Just got the moment from Sprint.According to the phone, it's still on version 1.5Is there a way to update it to 2.1? Would like to get some apps, (Launcher Pro, Epocrates, etc.). When I do a search on the android marketplace, it doesn't show up.I assume its because of the older OS.Help please!Didn't know I was getting such an old phone?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with my application when a user gets a system update (for example from 2.1 to 2.2). i am wondering how I can reproduce this experience on a phone (Nexus One). does this involve rooting the phone and then applying a system update? I need the update to look as though it came from the system. In other words, I can't take a full ROM image, because then I think I would lose my application being installed between upgrades.

I was just thinking that one day in the near future we will have Google operating systems on all of our devices i.e. phone, laptop, and tablet/pad. I am not sure what if any difference between Chrome and Android and how this will affect the likes of Microsoft and Apple. View 1 Replies View Relatedwe all know there are problems with stuttering and skipping in Pandora. Here's some proof of what's going on when it happens. I hooked up my phone and grabbed the system log as I started Pandora and easily got it to stutter and skip. I added notes as to what what happening at each step.Perhaps this log will raise some awareness of the problem and if we're lucky all this will make it back to Sprint and Samsung and get fixed soon.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI went in on Friday morning to the Sprint store and got the update for my Moment. I must say it fixed my key complaints. When I got back to my office (where I never got GPS reading before) it showed me on Google maps right where I was -Yeah! The lag in keystroke to letters appearing appears to be almost entirely gone. And Battery Life is really improved - to a crazy point (in a good way). I pulled it off the charger this morning, checked some scores today and then pretty much spent all evening downloading apps / playing games, etc and I was shocked when I got done - Still had about 70% battery life. Good job Sprint. I would have liked to have had this w/o going into the store, but it only took about 15 minutes and I have store close by, so no biggie.

Since I'm still waiting on the Update myself, I've had a brief chat with my Source at Samsung & he confirmed there isn't nothing life chaning in the kernel regarding problems. All fixes was addressed mainly to the OS it's self.
The Faster I can get the System Dump of the Update, the Faster I roll out updates to the system.img for everyone..
A few minutes ago I have updated my Samsung Galaxy with the "New PC Studio" for Germany (not Android 1.6!!!). After that, my mobile restarted and now the whole system isnīt working. There always appers an error message that process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Normaly( when I bought this phone ) I was able to tap to Wait, but now there is no way to do it. Now I can only tap to close but then it cuttes all my conections. This wouldnīt be the problem if it appeared only one time, but THE ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS EVERY 5 SECONDS.

Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.
Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.
The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:

What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.
I'm updating my moment to 2.1. i got the download, followed all instructions... my phone is sitting here connected with the "update in progress" yet... nothing is happening. it's sitting there. completely still.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhy is the 2.1 update for the Moment so complex. I have a droid and convinced my mother to get the moment a few months ago when she was do for an upgrade. She was over last night and I went to update her phone for her. Verizon updates are easy. You put an update.zip file on your sd card, reboot into recover, apply update.zip, reboot and your done. No computer needed since with Astro you can copy paste the update.zip file to the proper location if you download it via your phone. Not so with the moment. You have to download a .exe file and leave the device connected to your computer? there is a multi page guide to read? what? And no over the air update at all? With verizon you only had to do the update manually if you were too impatient to wait for your hand set to get the update OTA. This is another example of why sprint is doing so poorly. This is terrible customer service. My computer has all of its usb ports broken, but i have my phone rooted and flash new roms all the time and the lack of usb ports is no problem but i couldn't even update my mothers phone to a long awaited update because of this.
