Android :: Samsung Galaxy Isn't Working After Update Whole System Error
Oct 3, 2009A few minutes ago I have updated my Samsung Galaxy with the "New PC Studio" for Germany (not Android 1.6!!!). After that, my mobile restarted and now the whole system isn´t working. There always appers an error message that process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Normaly( when I bought this phone ) I was able to tap to Wait, but now there is no way to do it. Now I can only tap to close but then it cuttes all my conections. This wouldn´t be the problem if it appeared only one time, but THE ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS EVERY 5 SECONDS.

Nov 7, 2010When I try to check for firmware updates, I get an error that DM is not initialised and to check SIM card or network connection. Network is fine.....and presumably so is the SIM card. The phone is only two days old!

Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted�..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.
Motorola Droid : Error With System Update Two Days Ago
Apr 7, 2010I guess I'm one of the few that had glitches w/ the update. First the galery link on the front page didn't update and I kept getting "this application is not installed" error. I couldn't drag it over to the red waste basket...it kept changing back to gray and the faulty icon stayed on the main desktop. That evening while on hold to Verizon I "force fed" it by holding it over the waste basket longer, then added the new gallery app from the slider screen.
Also noted that the gold button on the r side no longer worked for the camera, it brings up a quick messaging screen instead. They determined the ONLY way to fix this is to reset the phone back to factory issue. Is there another way around this? Or if I have to, what's the best way to back up everything and keep track of the installed apps? I really don't want to reset the phone.

Apparently this app is required if you want to receive MMS (I can send MMS and send/receive SMS just fine with Handcent).
Does anyone know where I can get the stock app? Titanium says it can't restore it because it's a system app.

Oct 18, 2010I always keep my system volume turned all the way down. I don't know why anyone would want their phone to make obnoxious sounds when turning off. When do most people turn their phones off? Church, movies, meetings, basically anytime you want it to be QUIET. Anyway, I digress.
Something keeps turning up my system volume. Often when my phone shuts down due to low battery I hear the stupid shutdown sound. I think it may also have happened a few times when powering the phone off manually. I am rooted and I know I could rename the files, but I am getting tired of working around the bugs on this thing and having to keep track of all the files I rename. I try to keep it as "stock" as possible.
Any ideas on what might be turning my system volume up?

Sep 23, 2010If your download fully cancels in the middle, do not resume the download. When you try to resume - the phone will think you want to resume installation [it thinks the download is complete] and will update the phone with the partial firmware download. For those phones that were bricked, that is what was said happened to them - myself included. Now, why would the update not realize the firmware isn't complete and just abort the update is beyond me. Many of us ended up with paperweights from that. Had to go to AT&T to replace the phone last night.

Aug 10, 2010New to Android and new to this forum. I've converted from a blackberry and I can't tell you how much I love my Captivate. Well, enough of that :-) I have a few questions. I currently have my display set to time out after one minute. When I'm using the music player is there anyway to prevent the screen from locking. I have having to unlock it to switch tracks.
As a side, is there a way to change the locking system from a sliding pattern to a number code?

Sep 13, 2010For the past few weeks ive been trying to do a software update on my phone. i know 2.2 isnt available yet, but i just wanted to give it a try for sh!ts n giggles. my old captivate that i returned was able to connect to the att server and gave me a message saying that there are no updates available. the new captivate i have wont even connect to the att server. it sucks that i have to wait 24hours until i can try again. everytime ive done it, it gives me that error message. anyone else having this issue? i thought being rooted and having the one click lag fix was the problem so i undid the lag fix and unrooted, but i still got the same error message. im worried that when 2.2 is available, i wont be able to get it since i cant even connect to the att server.

Nov 17, 2010I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications.
Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library.
Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2.
The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error:
D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so
What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.

From looking on forums it appears it's because I mistakenly deleted the GTalk (Google Talk app). I'm trying to reinstall it but can't find the apk files for it and probably shouldn't tinker with it much more.

Jul 29, 2010I've seen different posts about this, but none for the captivate, and none in the past month, so.Last night I rooted my captivate using the stickied thread in this forum. Worked great! Simple, and not much to it. I have the Superuser Permissions app in my app list.This morning I installed the android sdk and the drivers from the samsung website, enabled usb debugging on my phone, connected the phone, and did the following in my cmd prompt:.C:android-sdk-windows yes, that is the correct location of the android sdk folder) but all i'm getting is 'error: device not found'. I tried uninstalling my drivers and doing it again, this time connected to a different USB port, and still the same thing. Anyone have any insights? I'm able to successfully connect my phone to my machine and view it like a storage device (drag folders around, etc)

Sep 26, 2010Wifi is on; hotel server found; connected to hotel server; but where do I input the hotel server password? Browser just indicates server error.
I also have my itouch with me and after it connects with hotel server, a sign-on screen comes up and I enter the server password.
Can't get the Captivate to supply a sign-on screen. Is there some other way to enter the server password that was supplied to me?
