I just got the phone, read over the whole FAQ and had some questions.
1. Is there a way to keep wifi on as the phone seems to turn it off, or does it really kill the battery?
2. Is there any application that is capable of removing the system apps. I didn't understand what they meant when that was asked in the faq.

This isn't the first time someone has posted a stock app removal guide and probably wont be the last but lately I've seen a lot of threads on the topic so decided to put together a guide of apps that i have removed that has greatly helped out my battery life. For all intensive purposes this is the 'easiest' free way to get rid of the bloat, it does however require root access. You can always just buy root explorer from the market and delete them with it. I tried to make this guide as nob friendly as possible.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am new to this (less than a week) and I removed everything with root explorer (and it was so simple). You can get it from the market. I would recommend it if you are not used to linux commands. It was well worth the two dollars for me. The main thing to know is r/w (read/write) vs. r/o (read only). It is just as it says - r/o will only let you read files, while r/w will let you read AND write files (which includes move and delete).

There was no easy, step by step guide.So I decided to post my guide up here for anyone who like me, wants to uninstall system apps but hasn't the foggiest.This is for if you have the ROM already installed and don't want to do a wipe/re-install. for ROMs you are about to install, just open the zip, browse to systemapp and delete the .apk prior to installation.Enjoy your bloatware free ROM. It goes without saying that you shouldn't remove anything you don't recognise and that if you do, you risk doing harm to your phone. I can take no responsibility for damage caused.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwe all know there are problems with stuttering and skipping in Pandora. Here's some proof of what's going on when it happens. I hooked up my phone and grabbed the system log as I started Pandora and easily got it to stutter and skip. I added notes as to what what happening at each step.Perhaps this log will raise some awareness of the problem and if we're lucky all this will make it back to Sprint and Samsung and get fixed soon.

But has anyone noticed how much more vibrant and polished the Palm Pre apps are as opposed to Android apps? Take the weather apps for example (Weather Bug or Weather Channel). I was recently on an airplane that had WiFi wireless connectivity (Delta using GoGo). I had my Moment and wanted to try it out. The problem is that the only way I could find to turn off the cell radio, as required by the FAA, is by putting the phone into "Airplane Mode". But, in Airplane mode, I could not get the WiFi to turn on.
So, what I really wanted was not "Airplane mode" but WiFi on and Cell Radio turned off. But I could not figure out any way to do that. Is it possible?
Is there a way to connect the Moment to a home wireless router? We just got our Moments Sunday and have really bad data reception inside the house. I couldn't set either of our emails up inside the house and when we do a search in an app it goes on until we stop it.

Phone: Rooted Samsung Moment.So I'm literally 6 feet away through one wall from a WiFi hotspot where I work. The campus is set up so that there is an unprotected WiFi access that is used for downloading configuration software. The other signal is protected and can be accessed using a common login. The configuration software is not needed if you know how to setup WiFi.
Here's the problem: the unprotected signal is the only one that the Moment will acknowledge, which is useless because it doesn't provide any internet access. The protected signal does not show up.Except when I use WiFi Analyzer when I can see both signals (which bounce around between 45 dBm and 60 dBm). I've tried to add the internet WiFi signal manually (WPA2) which is supposed to be a trick that works, but that's a no-go.Why can I see the signal on WiFi Analyzer, it be the same signal strength as the other signal, yet I can't see nor add it in the Android WiFi Settings? It's bugging the hell out of me.
