View 3 RepliesI got my Droid at the beginning of July and I really liked the idea behind the multimedia dock, but I thought $30 was a lot for something that did so little. Once I found out that media mode could be accessed with a magnet, I started looking at other people's designs for home-made docks. I used Crayola Air-Dry clay to hold the plug in place as well as make the phone fit perfectly. I wanted to be able to drop my phone into the dock quickly, it looked like other designs require you to plug in the phone, then set it in the dock.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VTEG7Q/ref=oss_T15_product. For 5.95 + shipping of like 2 something you can't beat it. Ordered mine today. Now I can keep a charger at work and you never know when your sync cable may die and a car charger.
I purchased a car charger from an independent Sprint store for my SPH-M900 moment. When the guy scanned it, the price came up $5.00. He said, "oh, it's okay, it's the right charger in the wrong box." I figured he should know what he is doing (that was my first mistake) so I went on my way. When I looked at the charger, it is a model #MOVR9PC, which I believe is for a Motorola phone. When I finally found that charger online, it says it is compatible with a Moment 1350.
I am nervous about using this with my phone. When I called the 800# for tech support, they told me that right model # is PVX8720C and to return this one to the store for an exchange.Does anyone know for sure whether or not this is okay to use with my phone? I have been told that "universal" ones and non-brand-name chargers "may" be fine, or they "may" kill your phone. Deciding between a $25-30 car charger or the $100 deductible to replace my phone, I will go for the Sprint car charger. Please help!
Thanks.
I went to the Sprint store and bought an extra charger for my Moment. They gave me a Palm charger. The palm charger outputs 5 volts and 850 milliamps. I believe the charger that comes with the Moment outputs 5 volts and 700 milliamps? They said it's a "universal" charger and that it's fine.Anybody know if this will cause any problems? The new charger fits when I plug it in to the phone but it's not as smooth fitting as the charger that came with the phone.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI purchased a "generic" wall charger at Best Buy. If it turn the phone off and then plug in the charger the phone turns on and boots up. If I plug the charger in while the phone is on and then turn the phone off, it immediately reboots. It's more of a minor annoyance, just wondering if anyone else has had this experiences. Running 2.1 (joeykrim 2.0.4).
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I ordered a Micro USB cable with a regular USB port on the other side so I could connect and sync my Samsung Moment with my computer, but all it does is charge it. I was under the impression that as long as it gets connected to the computer somehow it would be able to sync up but the computer doesn't recognize me inserting the phone. Is there such thing as a USB cable that just charges and a USB cable that charges AND syncs? And if so, what is it called? So I can look it up on amazon.com
View 12 Replies View RelatedIt seems like I have to jiggle any charger just right to get my phone to recognize the charger as plugged in. It never used to do it, but I think I may know what caused it. I was worried when I originally bought the 'Sprint' car charger and tried it for the first time (WAY over priced, but I figured better safe than sorry ). Compared to the included USB and a/c chargers, the Sprint car charger barely fit in the unit, and I mean it took effort to get it plugged in. I thought that was an intended feature, so that the phone didn't accidentally unplug if I picked up the phone while driving (like how the Razor charger used to fall out, if the phone was held sideways)So it seems that the Sprint brand car charger messed stretched the port inside my phone. Now the USB charger and the a/c and the car charger all have to be plugged in 'just right' to charge. I guess I'm going to have to risk swapping out for a phone that may not be in the perfect condition of my current phone Because, although I love it, it's of little use it it doesn't have any power.
In fact, last night before going to bed, I plugged my phone into the USB charger. I set it just right, held my breath, and left it on the desk charging. This morning I woke up to find my phone COMPLETELY DEAD with the USB plugged in... So on my way to school I tried to charge my phone via the car charger, I set it 'just right' but then if I hit a bump in the road the charge would stop, and then maybe restart after the next bump. And god forbid I answered a phone call, because that would disable the charging every time. So right now I have the phone charged at 5% sitting next to me, connected to my computer and intermittently charging via the USB cable. I really DO NOT want to swap out this phone for another Moment because everything else on it works. The GPS is fine, the battery is fine, all of it. And now it's wrecked because I wanted to take the 'safe' route using Sprint's car charger.
Big selling feature for the Moment over the iPhone is swapable batteries. I'd like to keep the phone with me at all times, and just swap in batteries. But I can not find an EXTERNAL battery charger. Google search only turned up a "universal" charger where the contacts are manipulated to match up with the battery. Not a good option. Anyone have a source for an external battery charger which I can use to charge spare batteries without using the phone?
View 49 Replies View RelatedJust got the 2.1 update for my Moment. Have a problem. I leave my phone on at night on the charger. I get up way earlier then my wife. Now after the update - my text notification ringer goes off when I plug in and unplug the charger. I tried turning off the "Notification Ringtone" - and that worked to kill the charger plug/unplug sound - but it also turned off the ring when I get an incoming text. That just will not work - turning that on and off all the time. Is there a way to just disable the sound when the charger is plugged/unplugged?
View 16 Replies View RelatedThe house charger that came with my phone in the box works perfect. I plug it in and the phone shows charging and then the screen goes out after the 30 seconds I have it set for while its charging.
I bought a Rocketfish charger from BB to have an extra one I can leave downstairs. When I charge the phone with it, after about 5 minutes the screen lights up on my phone and stays lit until I unplug the charger. Then the phone will go back out like it should.
I though there might be a difference so my nephew gave me his home charger he dont need. Its the charger sprint sent him by mistake for his phone. He has the Blackberry and they sent him the micro-usb wall charger. He gave it to me and when I plug my phone in with that charger the screen lights up and never goes out until I unplug the charger. I dont want to mess up the phone and was just wondering if there is still a difference with the chargers even though they are all micro-usb chargers?
Why does my moment ringer go off when I plug in the charger and when I take it out? It goes off only when I slide down the notification bar.

View 17 Replies View RelatedHere I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account. Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Maybe we can work out a swap. Now for the additional 1 to 2 feet of snow that is forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow, on top of the 2.5 feet still on the ground.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWill virtually any mini-USB based cable, car charger, and wall charger work with my HTC Droid Eris? Mini-USB cables are generally universal, but I want to ensure that I use a compatible car charger and wall charger that won't damage my phone. The official Verizon accessories of course seem overpriced, if any generic solution would work equally well.
For example, I am considering this product on amazon.com: Amazon.com: Home Travel Wall Charger + Rapid Cell Phone Car Charger + USB Data Sync Charge Cable for HTC Touch Pro 2 / Tilt 2 / Hero / Imagio / Pure / Touch Diamond 2 / Droid Eris: Cell Phones & Service. Overall, this mini-USB cable / car charger / wall charger combo gets positive reviews, but I've heard of random glitches for some cheap chargers.

View 29 Replies View RelatedI am using the OEM charger on my Dinc and nothing else. I randomly get a message something like, "The charger you are using is not compatible with your device. Remove the charger now to avoid damage to your phone". I have not used anything other than the OEM charger ever. It isn't loose or frayed or bent strangely. It also seems to charge even though the message pops up. For now, I'm using my computer's USB port to charge it but man, that's SLOOOOOOOOW. It has done it since I first got the phone and before I had even installed my first app. It also does it after a factory reset and reprogram. Customer service is sending an aftermarket wall charger free of charge until I can get an OEM unit as they are obviously out of stock.

View 38 Replies View RelatedI currently own a Palm Pre and I'm ready to ditch it for an Android device. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.
View 40 Replies View RelatedI have a desk job that I'm pretty much at my desk 90% of the time and was wondering if I have it hooked up to my PC through USB cable and have it fully charged all day, is that okay to do?Meaning I rather siphon off the power from the PC instead of the battery which might conserve it in the long run from not cycling as much. I use to do that with my Iphone 3g and my battery was still good after using it for almost 2 years.I wasn't sure how the power management was handled on the Captivate meaning is it sucking power from the battery and it's constantly recharging or if it sees that it's connected via USB, it powers the phone from the PC or outlet.

I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
