Recently on Sprint's Moment forum a member by the name Mkeng5 has been posting pretty vocal complaints about the Samsung Moment. Not only does he claim the Moment is defective, but he goes a step further and even cites Samsung's own Warranty Policy.

When I'm using anything that streams data (like slacker, pandora, even a lyric stream from tune wiki) about 20 minutes in it will stop streaming and kill my data connection. This used to happen sometimes before I updated to official 2.1 and I could just cycle it with airplane mode. But now it seems to lock anything having to do with the phone radio up. Wifi stops working, can't get calls or browse web sites. The signal bar will go full and it shows no data connection next to the signal bar. I've run the 2.1 update 3 times and it happens every time. I can listen to Slacker for like 20 mins then it will lock up. I'll reset the phone and start listening again and it will lock up within 5 min after that (so it does it sooner if the phone was just rebooted.)
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm willing to suffer through the data lockup if 2.1 will fix the problem, but I'm concerned that it may be a hardware issue. If it is a hardware issue I would hate to get stuck with a phone that I have to reboot 20 times a day like I do now. Does the Hero suffer this same kind of problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOk so I'm about a week and a half maybe more in with the froyo rom the newst one and while I love it especially the battery life. I'm experiencing some new problems that I don't recall having before. The screen will randomly turn off even though I have the screen delay set to 2 minutes. Other times it will just get dim to about 30 percent regardless of the brightness setting. I'm wondering if this is strict lg a hardware issue or something to do with the rom? I'm just afraid one time its not going to turn back on lol. Also I'm having data lockups where I have to restart the phone at least once a day. I don't recall experiencing this before. A little help and or understanding would be much appreciated on these 2 topics....also does anyone know of any better roms? Like one where wireless tethering app actually works? I have yet to have it work since installing this rom.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo im running the froyo rom and meat kernel and have been for a couple weeks. Within the past couple of days i have been suffering from thje random restart problem at least once a day. Anybody know what the cause of it is and how to stop it? Same with the data lock up? what gives? I dont recall either of those 2 things happening with the stock os but the airplane mode problem did. Also my wifi tether absolutely does not work and nobody has been able to tell me why yet lol. That was one of the main reasons i rooted and flashed. I dont really wanna go back to stock because my battery life is better. What gives here with these 3 problems?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI think I have found a quirky solution to this nagging issue with Moment but it requires some patience. Basically whenever I see that dreaded EVDO up arrow stuck in place, I quickly switch to WiFi mode. I will keep it in WiFi mode anywhere from 5-15 minutes and then will turn it off and switch to EVDO. So far in 3 out of 3 tries, the CDMA lock went away. Now, you might say that just rebooting is a faster fix but there are times when I'm browsing a page or doing something else and don't want to reboot. Give it a try and let me know if it works with your Moment. I'm running Amstel rom 2.0
View 13 Replies View RelatedI currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to use my upgrade to aquire the Moment without commiting to the data plan?
If you've forgotten your MSL, it seems you can load up the ADB drivers and run ADB.exe with the following command: adb shell getprop Look for the line that says "[ril.MSL]: [xxxxxx]" and that's your MSL.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.
View 40 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect the USB cable to my wife's phone, it will charge, but it never gives me the option to use it for data like my EVO does. I have searched here and over the net and the only suggestion people really gave were rebooting and turning on/off debugging mode.Neither made a bit of difference for me whatsoever.It is a used phone that I purchased from someone on here, but everything else on it has been flawless. I think it may be using a custom 2.1 install, but I am unsure.I guess I could try reverting it to stock.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMoment keeps losing evdo. Then the browser will timeout on all web pages. Email will not send or receive. Sometimes when this happens, I cannot text, or make a call. When it happens you can only see the up arrow on the left. Sprint store swapped it out for another Moment, and it did it in their parking lot. A few times after this happens I have to do a hard reset to get my email working again. Typing is slowing down on here as well.

I'm not sure what did it but the last message I got was there was too many songs on it and that is not true. It's an 8gb card with 700+ songs 15 pics and 4 ringtones so it being full is bs. I don't know what killed it but I suspect Ringdroid or 91Pandhome both have been acting funny for a couple of days force closing alot. Anyone else have this happen to them and is there a way to recover the data on the card as my laptop just does not see it anymore.

I've learned through the forums that turning off Background Data on the Momemt saves battery life. I've done that. I've also left the Auto Sync button checked (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts). However, my email never comes unless I physically go into Gmail and press refresh. I don't get it. While I love the many features of this phone, I am really missing my Blackeberry . Any suggestions, or is this just the way it is?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?
Does setcpu speed up the Moment at all or is its only real use for downclocking to save battery?

set up the wifes new moment her gmail still says 109 unread I went intp gmail on the pc and marked all as read then refreshed on the phone, no luck, tried going to manage apps and clearing all gmail and refreshing, still no luck short of one by one deleting all 109 any way to fix the count?

A lot of the apps are on the I phone and I touch which is pretty cool. But can anyone tell me if it is possible to maybe change the phone kinda like jail breaking? Is there anyway of making the Moment a wireless tether for internee?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMost every other "issue" to this phone has been a non-issue for me to this point.However, the one feature Samsung really screwed us on is the voice capabilities of the phone.I think they are tied to the Nuance system and therefore unusable by other apps like google voice search and where.I hope samsung or sprint writes a live search app for this phone.I bought the phone with the expectations of this phone being capable of voice commands without being limited by nuance.

The biggest concern I have is how fast will the Moment be rooted. Its sounding like they are close with the Hero, and once that is done will that make it easier for someone to figure out how to root the moment? Or is it like starting from scratch from phone to phone? Im also a bit concerned that no one at XDA will be helping with the process since the moment is not an HTC phone. I had a Treo800 when it first cameout, and it seemed like it took FOREVER for roms to make it way to that device. Any thoughts?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am a Sprint customer looking for an Android phone for basic functions. I am trying to choose between the Hero and the Moment. I have 1 of each right now from Sprint, on the 30 day trial. Here are the challenges I find with each. Does anyone know of any fixes for these?
Hero
1) Phone hangs up during calls because of lack of proximity sensor
2) Speaker phone wont turn off once activated, unless I end the call
3) Vibration mode is very weak and basically useless. Cant feel it in my pocket
4) Sprint Navigation does not work
Moment
1) Battery runs out before end of day
2) Bluetooth is spotty and wont always connect
3) Web navigation not as smooth as Hero.
I keep having this problem with my Moment where it will refuse to do data connections. Sometimes rebooting helps, sometimes it doesn't. It happened three times today, and I was ready to throw my phone out the car window. It's happened on and off since I got the phone 2 months ago. I hoped it would go away after I updated to 2.1, but no dice. My wife, who doesn't use the phone as heavily, doesn't have these problems. Some days (like today) it seems worse than others. I see scattered forum posts about "evdo lockup" and "cdma lockup", but no real idea of how to diagnose what the problem is, and more importantly, whether it's worth taking it back to Sprint and trying to get them to do somethin.
