I have the car dock. the one that didn't come with a charger of course. so i am having the issue of it going to sleep while in GPS mode. Is there any way, aside from buying a car charger, to make it so the phone does not go to sleep when it is in the car dock?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI first tested the alarm out and set it to go off in 2 minutes. it worked. so I set it for my morning alarm and to play an mp3. it said that it will go off in 6 hours. morning rolls by and it never goes off. i check it and its still set, but never went off. another problem that happened was my music player would not work after this incident. i would click load play list and it would take my to a blank screen. the previous song wouldn't play either. i had to reset my device to fix it.
View 18 Replies View RelatedOn the charger all night and this morning did not hear it at all, woke up 30mins after I set it to go off, does anyone have this issue or know why and how to get it working....it was on battery saver mode if that's the reason, I have it on the charger now and on smart mode to see if it will sound off.

I downloaded superdial, which has this capability, but it is running a bit slow.
Does anyone else have some comments on other dialers that can do this.
By this I mean that if I want to call DAD, I type in 323 and it brings up DAD in the address book. I have 700 contacts, and cant try scrolling to find names!
I plan to go to verizon later today to see what they say, but i anticipate little to no help from them... so i decided to post this here. i tried the forced update to the stock 2.2 a couple weeks ago to no avail... kept getting this error every time i tried:

Installation Aborted, so i decided to wait for the OTA update... had it waiting for me when i got up this morning... pressed install and let it go to work... came back 20 minutes later and it was still on the triangle w/ exclamation logo... so i let it sit longer... came back yet another 10 minutes later it was on the Motorola logo and just stayed there for about 5+ minutes (i let it sit for awhile to make sure it was done) so i took out the battery and restarted... and no update still "2.1 Update 1" now what do i do?
I've had my DX for about a week now. At first the battery life was just terrible. Now it seems to be improving a little bit more every day. I didn't install a task killer or anything either.I saw some threads where some have experienced this with other phones but didn't see any with the DX. Anyone else have a similar experience with the DX? Sorry if this has already been discussed. I looked but didn't see it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed the latest Facebook app on my Droid today and found that it synced most of my contact photos beautifully. (I chose the second option: only to sync photos with my current contacts) However, one minor issue and two less minor issues:
- For one of my contacts, the picture didn't sync. Dunno why but I guess I can just add the photo manually.
- Another thing is weird. After making a call I've noticed that in my dialer's "favorites" tab, there is a contact who I am friends with on Facebook but whom I do not have the number for, nor whom I have ever called at all! This person keeps reappearing (with FB profile pic and email address) in my dialer app, but the person is not in my actual Google / Android contacts.
Any ideas on how to fix that latter issue? Whenever I delete this person's listing from the Favorites tab, they keep reappearing after I make calls (to other people) O_o
Oh, and since we're talking about the Facebook app..
- Is there any way for Facebook to use the Android notification system to let me know about any new FB notifications? As it is, I'll be on the computer and see some new notifications, but on my Droid I have to manually refresh notifications in the app before it knows about them. Kinda weird.
First off, im running HC2.1,
1.Dont you have to root to be able to upgrade to a different software type? I rooted before in stalling greek35 2.1, then upgraded to HC2.1, do i have to reroot?
2. Rooting is just, using the update.zip file you download, then using droidroothelp.apk program, mount3, update those 3 things, flash 15.0, rename, reboot ect...so basically as long as you have SU app on your phone your rooted no?
Now boot animation question
I downloaded a boot animation, connected my phone with usb debugging, used the cd command and abd push bootanimation.zip /data/local, rebooted and the boot animation didnt change..after i used the push command, it said x.xkb transfered in 1.23seconds or whatever...any suggestions?
Will virtually any mini-USB based cable, car charger, and wall charger work with my HTC Droid Eris? Mini-USB cables are generally universal, but I want to ensure that I use a compatible car charger and wall charger that won't damage my phone. The official Verizon accessories of course seem overpriced, if any generic solution would work equally well.

I have the VZW car charger they were bundling back in November, it was not meant for the Droid as it wasn't even listed, it was meant for BB etc. What I have found is that it doesn't give out enough power to charge the Droid at the same time that you are using GPS so the phone actually discharges the battery as you are using. I found the Moto charger on Amazon and am wondering if anyone else has used it and if it provides enough power to charge the phone and use GPS. It did not say "charging" and it actually never di gain any battery life from it.Maybe it was defective?So I decided to go and get a Jabra USB car charger and still the same problem. Should I be seeing "charging" on the phone just like you see when you are hooked up to a pc?

When you plug it in the phone says charging, and the red light on the adapter goes on when plugged in, but the battery percentage only decreases over time and the little light on the left that normally goes on does not. Has this happened to anyone before? I switched out the USB cable but it's still not charging. The next obvious idea is to buy a new charger but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas before I did. Also, if need be, anyone know of cheap places online to buy one?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a generic car charger for my Droid. My thought was something along the lines of "a micro USB charger is a micro USB charger" and clearly I was wrong.
I noticed that after an hour on the charger while i was using GPS, 3G and Bluetooth, that the charge on my phone had actually dropped by about 10%. At best, the generic charger only slowed the drain from the battery. I replaced it with a Rocketfish charger from Best Buy and, while charging was painfully slow, it did charge.
Maybe it was the brand of charger and maybe my charger was faulty but I thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who is going to grab one.
I'm looking at a nice auction on ebay. Reputable seller, Droid X w/ clean esn, Car mound, Multimedia dock, extra battery and oem case for . The one thing I'm wondering before I spend extra buying something I don't need, will the car charger for the D1 work w/ the X. I have the oem verizon one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a micro USB charger for my Bluetoth headset (Electronics) and another for my work phone (LG). I can't seem to get the X to charge up using either??? Interestingly, if I take the iPhone charger and change the cable from the USB/30 pin to the USB/micro USB it works fine. All the chargers are rated 5V. The X on any regular USB port on any computer I've tried so far. So, if the 5V is the same for all those chargers, is then just a question of driving enough amps into the X?

They look the same to me (just one is $10 cheaper!) so I thought I'd ask if anyone had any experience with this device. How does it charge the phone? Is there a micro USB connector inside the dock, or do you have to use your own cord? Any other perspectives you can offer on these devices, or any other devices that would charge and do FM transmitting at the same time will be greatly appreciated.
I can find the car dock on the site, but not the multimedia. Need this dock! Has anyone had any luck finding it?
