View 8 RepliesHow do I enable notifications for updates to apps I've downloaded from the marketplace? Can't seem to find the option.
View 8 RepliesSince I reset my phone a few weeks ago, I get "Application updates available" notifications every day at 8:50am.
I cannot switch them off. I have disabled notifications in Google Play -> Settings -> Notifications, yet I still get them every day at the same time.
I am running Android 2.3.5 on a HTC Desire S, with HTC Sense Version 3.0
Okay, start at the start! got this phone (unlocked pay as you go) from Clove (Excellent) and put my o2 pay as you go sim inside, and straight away im on 3g no problems.....
Then..... See some nice new firmware, (JM2) and think i will have some of that! (Install with odin, not using CSC file Initially, then using CSC -- EURO ? not UK specific? file included with update
And now....
On both counts i have had to manually install the apn settings, (no problem)
But....
Apps are missing from the market place, (new google id & with & without csc file)
Im thinking the CSC file is more important than we think, in that it holds APN information for UK operators, and that when you go into marketplace this CSC file reflects a UK phone in some way, and displays according apps
Battle for Mars ... only the lite version is available HistoryEraser ... is no longer available etc etc...
So two things can anyone with JM2 see those apps?, and other thing I have a feeling that Kies won't update our phones to the latest firmware (Eventually) if our csc file reflects that our phone is a EURO phone, not neccesarily a problem if you use odin but you know what i mean!
Other thing that i wasnt aware of ... using odin resets battery stats. On xda developers there is a fix for this
Last thing......
Can someone who can see these apps upload the csc file somehow.
Just rooted my Galaxy S, applied 1 click lag fix and installed JuiceDefender....Now, can anyone tell me which rom I need so that I can enable the 2g/3g toggle and the CPU manager options on Juicedefender? I'm on JM2 Firmware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Samsung Galaxy Nexus via ebay yesterday and it came with Android 4.0 ICS software. I went to "Settings >> About Phone" - No "System Updates" option available!!
how do I get this option or update my phone to the latest software Jelly Bean 4.2.2 without this option on the phone.
So you want to see if you're gonna get the OTA update tonight, but running a custom ROM? Well, here's the file required to re-enable OTA updating (I'm sure by now, it's been removed from every custom ROM):
otacerts.zip
Place it in your working directory, and using adb:
Code:.............
Problem: When pressing the power button to turn phone on, there is no samsung boot logo. the only thing that shows up is a black screen, [the backlight] it will stay that way until the battery dies.
i know it's not a problem with the display because i can get to the recovery screen by pressing the three buttons. i tried numerous wipes and factory resets, even tried to reboot from there. but it still wont boot up, it only ends up with that black screen. Also the green battery shows which further indicates that it's not a display problem.
Phone Description:

That's basically all i know about this phone, i know it's a clone because on the hardware differences under the hood compared to the real S4. [it's probably a legend or a superking since it's from korea i think] im not sure which operating system it runs, from the looks of it i dont think it has one.
Some things i've tried: i downloaded android SDK, MTK droid tools, SP FLash tools, for some reason, i keep getting error 8200 in sp flash tools and mtk droid tools doesn't detect my phone. I tried flash updating firmware with adb sideload, it always ends up with an error ''aborted''. i can't enable usb debugging since the phone wont turn on.
I am using Google Latitude and my location updates are very infrequently.
My update reach from half and hour to 7 hours. Often it only updates every 3 hours. My battery is full to 3/4 at this time.
According to Google the updates depend on how often you move and how strong your battery is, but the update will never take longer than 1 hour.
Do you guys experience the same problem?
I have rooted my phone and have now the recovery mode from HD blog. It's was working fine. So I tried to get the Galaxhero ROM installed. I did the following steps:
1) Reboot in recovery mode (Volume down + both Call buttons) and choose "Nandroid backup" to save a backup of your current ROM just in case.
2) Backup G apps
3) Then, choose "Wipe data/factory reset". The phone will reboot in recovery mode again.
4) Choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip" (second menu entry on the recovery screen)
5) Restore Google applications ("Restore G.Apps")
6) "Enable root (su)".
But then enable root failed! Anyway I went on further with reboot system. It rebooted till the "android HD logo" showed up and then suddenly the screen went off and it seemed like my phone went off. So I went back to the recovery mode and did the following steps:
Wipe data
Restore backup
Restore G apps
Enable root SU, but again enable su failed!!
Again I choose reboot system, and when the reboot came again to the "android HD logo". It stuck there and stayed looping.
First, why do I still see the android HD logo again because I did a wipe!
Second, How can I get my phone working again!
Do Apps installed using ADB get updated from the play store? if not is there a way to enable the Auto updates through ADB?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Virgin Mobile Galaxy S3 that just got the 4.4 update this morning. Afterwards it had to redownload/update nearly every app on the device as well as all my SNES and Playsation ROMs which I though was odd.
Now all the notifications for thos downloads will not go away. I've cleared them all at once, I've cleared them all individually. When I turn the screen off and then turn it back on an dunlock the phone all those notifications are back in the notification bar.
Lately I have realized that at home I don't get notifications from most of my apps. I have notifications turned on and I do get them pushed to me when I go to other places with high-speed internet. The internet at home isn't blazing fast but isn't slow at 13 Mbps. I don't get notifications for most games and some other apps, like hangouts, where I could end up missing out on a conversation because I never got the notification. I get notifications about new emails and updates from the Play Store but that's about it. Is there something I can try or do to fix this problem and get my notifications?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was wandering if anybody could help me with the email notification problem im currently having. Iphones and blackberrys all give you a notification when you receive a new email or a new facebook message. The galaxy s does nothing when you receive a new mail. In settings you can select a ringtone, set it to vibrate when you receive a message. But nothing happens. The only way to find out if there any new messages is by clicking on the email app ( in which i am using hotmail).
View 6 Replies View RelatedToday I flashed XWJM8 on my Phone and it's all working perfectly, except there are no default sounds for my ringer and notification sound. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have both my hotmail and gmail accounts set up but don't seem to get notifications of new emails. I only receive them upon going into the app itself. How do I get it so that I get a number icon or whatever over the app to show I have received emails?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have created an application that creates notifications, using the following code:
// Notification notification = new Notification(R.drawable.notification_icon, title, System.currentTimeMillis());
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
// parameters
String ringtone = prefs.getString(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_ringtone), "");
if (ringtone.length() > 0) { notification.sound = Uri.parse(ringtone);
notification.audioStreamType = AudioManager.STREAM_NOTIFICATION;
} boolean useVibrator = prefs.getBoolean(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_use_vibrator), false);
if (useVibrator) { notification.defaults |= Notification.DEFAULT_VIBRATE;
} boolean useLed = prefs.getBoolean(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_use_led), false);
if (useLed) { notification.defaults |= Notification.DEFAULT_LIGHTS;
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_SHOW_LIGHTS;
} // alert
RemoteViews contentView = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.notification);
contentView.setImageViewResource(R.id.notification_icon, R.drawable.icon);
contentView.setTextViewText(R.id.notification_title, title);
contentView.setTextViewText(R.id.notification_text, text);
notification.contentView = contentView;
Intent notificationIntent = new Intent(context, MyActivity.class);
PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, notificationIntent, 0);
notification.contentIntent = contentIntent; notificationManager.notify(1, notification);
The notification works, and the correct ringtone is used. However, even though the preferences are correctly activated and notification flags are correctly set (I checked by debugging), the notification never vibrates and never cause the lights to be activated. I would have blamed my phone's settings, but every other app using notifications, like messaging, gmail, and others correctly use all these features. (My phone is a HTC Hero with Android 2.1)
My iPhone would tell me if I have a new SMS, Facebook notification, or message + a # indicator on the icon. anything similar for Android?
Right now I get a notification and it is available at the top if I slide down from home screen (hangouts, sms or mail) but is there anything that would enable similar to the below iPhone screen shot?
I have installed Desktop Notifications and Pushbullet. Both apps require me to enable them in the Notification Mirroring Service. To do that it always takes me wifi to switch the wifi on.I don't have wifi, I have 3G. How do I enable the service without wifi?
