View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my first Android app stable enough for the marketplace, and I've hit a brick wall with one exception that I don't understand. Probably I'm doing something stupid, but I can't tell what, and after several hours googling and experimenting, I thought I'd see if I can get some help. My Activity extends ListActivity, and the parts I think are most important are extracted below:
GroupedListAdapter is a simple class that extends BasedAdapter to provide headings for sections of the list (not unlike the Fancy ListView tutorials that are floating around).
I create this in onCreate, and it works fine. Inside onListItemClick, I do some actions which will create a different set of list contents. I "clear" the adapter, which empties the contents, and call reload, which repopulates it. Then I call notifyDataSetChanged.
Most often, this seems to work, but also fairly often, I get the exception following the code snippets below - this seems to indicate the ListView is not in sync with my changes. Lately this crash happens 100% of the time under the simulator.

Can anyone who has used JIT before give me a link to how I should enable it (I know Fabulous uses it but I don't know who else)? I tried searching for JIT in this forum and got nothing. All droid didn't seem to help much more. It seems like there's really little to no documentation on how to get this running. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, I assume that it's still not too stable, so I should probably take a Nandroid backup first, right?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got the Eris-I love the phone, but I may want a keyboard in a smart phone. However, I want to be able to text like I used to on older phomes-with one thumb. The Eris allows people to change to XT9 input, something I really like. I tried to find something similar on the Motorola Droid and couldn't find any place to change it. Is this option available on the Motorola phone? If I can't change it, that makes two things which bother me about the Motorola phone-the inability to NOT get the mobile versions of web pages as the default and now this texting issue.

If I hit install later, it keeps popping up like every hour or something like that. If I try to install it, it just says installation failed. Is there a way to completely block OTA updates so I don't have to be annoyed with this anymore?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs soon as the 2.2 update was leaked for the Droid, I downloaded it and applied it to my phone, rather than keep waiting for Verizon to push it out weeks later. The update process went smoothly, and I have been running Froyo for a couple weeks now.
The problem is, now my phone bugs me with the OTA update notification constantly, and the only options I have are to install, or install later. I have no option to decline the update. Is there any way to tell android to stop attempting to apply the OTA update? I am surprised it is even trying, as its already running 2.2 so why would it still try and update? If it matters, I have rooted my Droid.
I heard that I can tell my droid to do automatic updates when ever an app needs it. I have searched for where I can adjust that setting but I have found nothing. Can someone point me in the right direction?

You should see about a 12-16% increase in linpack scores. Overall system performance should be boosted too. Whether it's noticeable or not depends on the user, I guess.
I've tested this on his BB 0.7. This will probably work for other ROMs too, but it flashes the BB 0.7 build.prop, so your build number will change if you're using a different ROM.

Be sure to make a backup before you do this so you can revert if you run into any instabilities. However, in my testing, the newer ESE53 ROMs are pretty stable with JIT.

View 4 Replies View RelatedTo try ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery because it is "obviously superior" in every way, shape and form. So, why so many updates ... especially for CwMod? And why does it seem that every other "update" causes something to break? And why is it that every time I tap on "Reboot into Recovery", it NEVER works. I have yet to have it boot into Recovery even once. It reboots, and that's it. O joy. I have the 'Boot Control' widget that boots into recovery each and every time, without fail.
So far, I'm not too awfully impressed. Sure I see the added functionality. But I'm also experiencing more than my share of FAIL.
I have two quick questions.
If I forced the 2.0.1 update, will I still get the OTA Update for 2.1?
And the other, if I upgrade to 2.1, will the rooting procedure still work should I want to?
At one point I managed to get the market Place to identify whether there were updates available to the apps I've downloaded to my Droid. I can't work out how I got to that list. Anyone know?
If not through the Market Place, is that an app that will check for updates for me?
