View 5 RepliesAs "Allow Automatic updates" is checked I would have thought that the update should download ....... erm . automatically. Nothing happened. until I stated to download something else from the Marketplace and hey presto down came the Maps update. This is the second time this has happened. I can only assume that by initiating a download the Desire is synched with the Market, but this doesn't occur by just browsing the Market.
View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes an app developer need to do something peculiar in code to get a newer version of an uploaded app to show up in the notification bar on installed users' phone?I am reading comments that vary wildly and I can neither determine if the message content I am reading is relevant or current. With the pace of change in Android, perhaps we should filter messages older than a year from results? :)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI frequently get unsolicited notifications that one or more apps have been updated. Is there a way to disable automatic app updates? I like to check for myself to see if I really want a specific app update. Examples: some apps want to enable new permissions that I don't necessarily want; some irreversibly change or even do away with the app - e.g., Currents.
Phone is a new Nexus 5. (Great phone, by the way)
I thought it's about a size and wifi.
But now Doodle Jumper appaared as manual. And Zen Bound is big and it is shown as automatic.
All three apps don't have automatic update checkbox marked.

For quite some time before getting my Android phone, I was using the iPod Touch, which would automatically tell me when there were updates for my Apps, and I would simply click "update" to update and install the latest versions.Recently, Facebook updated its App.I would not have known about this unless I read an article and went to the Android Market to find the Facebook App.It appears there are no automatic updates for Apps. Is this correct?

I swap sim cards out quite often as I travel between a few countries for work. Is that the cause?
I have a Motorola Droid running Eclair 2.1 that I rooted a few weeks back. Today I received the auto-update notice on my device, but I don't want to just go ahead with it and lose root access. So I am hoping someone can tell me how I should handle this. I would like to update, but only if I can keep root access as I have overclocked and run a number of other root-only apps. Here is my device info... I'll try to provide as much as I can. I used the instructions listed HERE to root my device, and HERE to overclock. Also, will it be necessary to wipe all my data to perform this update and re-root? And if it turns out that I am not ready to update right now, is there a way to stop the automatic notifications?

Anyone else have notifications for updated apps stop working? The option is turned on in Market, sync is active etc and I don't get notifications, have to manually go into Market and check the downloads list. Sometimes there will be 10 updates in there. I am the happy owner of a new smart phone and am gradually finding my way around it.
I was offered an update and the instruction book, p203, recommends me to check that the automatic backupis enabled by HOME>MENU>Settings>Privacy.
However there is no "privacy" heading in the list of options.
How to make the check?

Also, any decent facebook app that isnt the default one? I have also read that you can set different profiles up for work or home etc.
View 7 Replies View Relatedwaiting for TMobile to reissue their OTA update to 1.21.110.4 so wanted to install it myself. Am desperate to install it as have read in couple of places on XDA forums that it increases the media volume which is a big issue on my device (yes, yes I know some of you get blown away by yours but trust me I'm not deaf or stupid, it's just ridiculously quiet). Anyway I have managed to download a zip of the update but am confused as to what to do next.
