View 6 RepliesI have both my hotmail and gmail accounts set up but don't seem to get notifications of new emails. I only receive them upon going into the app itself. How do I get it so that I get a number icon or whatever over the app to show I have received emails?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have created an application that creates notifications, using the following code:
// Notification notification = new Notification(R.drawable.notification_icon, title, System.currentTimeMillis());
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
// parameters
String ringtone = prefs.getString(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_ringtone), "");
if (ringtone.length() > 0) { notification.sound = Uri.parse(ringtone);
notification.audioStreamType = AudioManager.STREAM_NOTIFICATION;
} boolean useVibrator = prefs.getBoolean(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_use_vibrator), false);
if (useVibrator) { notification.defaults |= Notification.DEFAULT_VIBRATE;
} boolean useLed = prefs.getBoolean(context.getString(R.string.key_notifications_use_led), false);
if (useLed) { notification.defaults |= Notification.DEFAULT_LIGHTS;
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_SHOW_LIGHTS;
} // alert
RemoteViews contentView = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.notification);
contentView.setImageViewResource(R.id.notification_icon, R.drawable.icon);
contentView.setTextViewText(R.id.notification_title, title);
contentView.setTextViewText(R.id.notification_text, text);
notification.contentView = contentView;
Intent notificationIntent = new Intent(context, MyActivity.class);
PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, notificationIntent, 0);
notification.contentIntent = contentIntent; notificationManager.notify(1, notification);
The notification works, and the correct ringtone is used. However, even though the preferences are correctly activated and notification flags are correctly set (I checked by debugging), the notification never vibrates and never cause the lights to be activated. I would have blamed my phone's settings, but every other app using notifications, like messaging, gmail, and others correctly use all these features. (My phone is a HTC Hero with Android 2.1)
My iPhone would tell me if I have a new SMS, Facebook notification, or message + a # indicator on the icon. anything similar for Android?
Right now I get a notification and it is available at the top if I slide down from home screen (hangouts, sms or mail) but is there anything that would enable similar to the below iPhone screen shot?
I have installed Desktop Notifications and Pushbullet. Both apps require me to enable them in the Notification Mirroring Service. To do that it always takes me wifi to switch the wifi on.I don't have wifi, I have 3G. How do I enable the service without wifi?

View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there a simple way to enable / disable vibrate for the phone / notifications? I tried using the volume rocker, going to vibrate there. That works for the ringers, but not notifications. I mainly want to set / unset vibrate for gmail and Google Voice. I have tried various 3rd party apps like Volume Control / Audio Manager, but nothing seems to work consistently.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.
In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.
Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"
Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.
None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.
I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.
Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.
I just got my HTC incredible yesterday from my preorder. I have problem to enable other keyboard such as Swype or others like Chinese input from google. I went to settings-keyboard & language and checked these keyboards, but when I typed text, only the default HTC touch input keyboard popped out, I did not find any key to switch. I did not find a way to disable the touch input keyboard either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to enable car dock mode on an Incredible? I don't mean just starting the car dock app, but having it automatically start when you put the phone in a dock. I know it works on motorola phone with magnets. I've been using Custom Car Home and it's supposed to take over the Home button when you're in a car dock, but doesn't work on the Incredible since we don't have fancy magnetic docks. I read on the EVO board that the new HTC car dock for the EVO puts it in car dock mode and was wondering if there was a way for us to enable this too. Perhaps a special USB charging cable to use in the car that sends some sort of signal?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIS there a quick way to enable bluetooth during a call? Now I have to jump to the home screen where I have a button. However, this is rather akward since I have to answer the call, then fumble with the buttons and my headset turning them on. Ideally, I would want the bluetooth to automatically turn on anytime I receive a call and automatically turn off whenever I hang up. And having a bluetooth button in the dialer gui would be nice too.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my Incredible almost two weeks ago and haven't modified it in any way other than switching to LauncherPro instead of Sense. I've seen these buttons (highlighted in red in the screenshots) in various places; Used for selection of a single item or as "enabled" or "disabled", they just don't look right. Especially in Astrid, they don't look like they do in the screenshots from the market. what are these buttons called (they're not radio buttons or checkboxes, so I'm assuming they have a name)? Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm about 98% sure I've changed what color my LED light (the one that comes on when you're charging) was for notifications. But now I can't find an option or setting anywhere to do it... did they remove this feature with the 2.2 update or something?it may have been a setting that was in handcent but i'm not sure
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do I get notified when I have a new facebook message? I don't seem to be getting any, but when I use the Facebook app, I can see new messages. I'm coming from a BB Curve where I got actual facebook message notifications when I had a new message or someone replied to a thread that I had commented in. Does Android not do that?

Hi guys. I have checked all the low on space threads and i feel like mines is definitely an odd ball
When i click on the notification it sends me to my Manage Apps menu. The Manage Apps menu kind of freezes and all the apps show but the disk space says "computing..." and doesn't change
This is the current amount of space I have in my phone.
SD card - Total space = 7.42GB / Avail. space = 7.05gb
Internal phone storage - Total space = 6.6gb / Avail. space = 6.53gb
Phone memory - Total space = 748MB / Avail space = 696MB
I have tried clearing the internet cache and etc..still to no avail. the phone seems to be functioning fine except for the notification that bugs me.
I am only using the stock sense messaging app and I get two notifications for sms texts. Not sure what I am missing here.
View 4 Replies View RelatedStarting today I haven't been getting my usual HTC email notifications and when I open the HTC mail client the messages are there, but I get an error message that says, "Alert, There is not enough free space. Please delete some messages and try again." I'm also not able to send photos via the photo app by email. The message sends but not the attachment, only a 1 kb attachment which isn't the photo at all. My phone storage is virtually empty and I always keep my inboxes clear. I've had this phone since launch with no real problems until now. I did update adw.launcher, launcher pro, smooth calendar and alarm clock yesterday if that helps. I called Verizon and they told me to do a factory reset. This shouldn't be happening two months later on a perfectly running phone, should it? I trust everyone on this forum over the Verizon tech support every day of the week.

View 5 Replies View Relatedhas this been asked before? I tried searching but everything i found was notifications for regular SMS, and notification not waking the phone up. Basically i'm looking for a beep of some sort that notifies me of when i get a text when i'm on the phone. I've had that little bit or sound since 1998 when cell phones were getting heavy on the market and in the US, but for some reason, the droid does not notify me when i get a text while i'm on the phone. Is there an option i'm missing somewhere?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI noticed this morning that my alarm didn't make a sound when it went off this morning. Fortunately it was set to vibrate and I heard that. I than noticed it didn't ring when I received a call. I had my GF send me a txt and no sound with that either. When I go into setting to change my ringtone none of them play. The volume button beeps when I hit it and I other apps that play sounds are working fine.
