On my samsung galaxy s captivate, There is a little glitch I've ran into where notifications are with the wrong contact label and some times pushes my messages to that person. I'm wondering if this is a glitch that comes with adroid and can be fixed with the up coming froyo up date this month Or should I exchange with my vendor

Purchased my Samsung Captivate about 2 weeks ago. I was told that you can speak to text, I did the setting for text to speech. No were do they have a microphone to speak to text.

I'm trying to set the tone for text notifications.If I go to Settings>Sound>Notification Ringtone it only gives me the pre-loaded sounds.If i go to the sound file in my phone and click "set as" it only gives me options for voice call ringtone, caller ringtone, and alarm tone.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI got my Captivate about a week ago and some far I am liking it a lot. However, I thought I was having some battery issues, as my phone is draining faster than my brother's iPhone.
Using one of the battery status widgets, I've noticed that my batter drops about 1 percent for every text that send and receive (send one text+receive one text = 1% drain) meaning that I'd only be able to send about 100 texts in a day on a full charge. Most days I don't reach that but there are some days which are pretty text heavy. Is this a normal rate at which the battery should be draining for doing something like that? I am using Juicedefender and Advanced Task Killer to monitor what is going on, and the only widget I have running is Fancy Widget.
I can text anyone outside my area code, but when I try it with anyone in my area code I get a message that says to use the proper 10 digit phone number. I understand what that means, and have the 10 digit numbers programed for all my contacts, but when I hit on a contact and hit the text button only the 7 digit number comes up. That works fine with voice calls, but not with texting. I've been through my phone 20 times trying to find a way to make it use a 10 digit number for texting, can't find it.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with texting. Not always. Soemtimes when I am replying to a text to one person the name in the grey box is not that person. It seems like it will reply to someone that I had texted earlier. Verizon replaced my phone once, we have done a hard reboot...still problems. Verizon contacted Motorola and they have not heard of this issue.

Also, my screen is very glitchy does everyone have that problem? One more thing. I will go to the call list and tap on the person I want to call and it will call someone else. I love the phone and the interface but would love to get these problems solved.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded a picture attachment from my Gmail that is an 'unwanted picture' which I opened when I went to Gallery/Download folder.It is currently the default preview picture now for the Download folder. I've already deleted this picture from the Download folder, but anytime I download a new picture attachment, it still uses the 'unwanted' pic as the folder preview.I've even tried manually deleting the Download folder using AstroFile Manager.Everything I've tried doesn't seem to work.I desperately need help because currently I'm not able to download any picture from my Gmail account without that stupid picture showing up as the preview for the Download folder.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyways, Is anyone else having issues with the Speakerphone? When in speakerphone mode the person on the other end isn't able to hear anything I say. However im able to hear them just fine on my end.
So the main issue is that for some reason my mic isn't picking up my voice when I am trying to use the speakerphone.
so i put in my headphones to listen to some music and when i pulled them out all sounds on the phone have been deleted. the only sound it makes is when someone calls me but i cant hear the person on the other side.

Basically my problem is when I make a call to anyone of my contacts, what happens is that the other person can't hear me, I made a call to Skype Test Call service and I can't hear my own voice when I record the message that is requested in order to test the recording part.
This problem is in both ways, when I make a call and when I receive a call. I'm using only wi-fi because I don't have a data package that allows me to make calls over 3G. In addition I have a skype subscription and an online skype number that allows anyone with an landline or mobile phone reach me on skype.
anyone else's phone recently get ridiculously slow while texting? it seems my phone's perfomance has gone to crap. my orientation from horizontal to vertical pauses, and I can't send text after text. it seems like my phone has to stop and think. it used to be really fast, but recently has gotten really bad.
I only have quick settings and ATK for apps, so I don't think it's an app causing problems. could it be the whole data exhange drops? Changing from 1X to EVDO and back and forth?
I am new at texting and would like to know if there is a program were you can text to all phones brom you pc rather than just to your own carrier. I have found sprint.com's texting program but will only allow you to text to sprint customers. What I am looking for is a site that allows texting to and provider.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI used my dad's upgrade to get the Evo on launch day. Bought it on his line and transferred it to mine. Now whenever he calls me, instead of saying "Firstname Lastname", it says "Voicemail".
Obviously my voicemail is not calling me. His number still shows up on the incoming call screen.
Same thing happens when I call him. It says I'm calling my voicemail.
My ACTUAL voicemail works just fine.
I am using lockbot pro and I noticed my phone was being woken up by all the buttons not just power. So I went to the app, menu, config and checked prevent wake up. But now the power button wakes it up fine but all the other buttons wake it up to a dimly lit lock screen. Is there a way to get it back to only the power button working like without the app?

This comes up when I start to compose my text and also if I try to delete that message. Doesn't seem to happen on any other conversations that I have (only have 3 conversations)
I have Factory Reset my phone 3 TIMES already, my last reset about 12 hours ago so I don't have a lot of things running or loaded up.
My question, is it possible for me to somehow get the stock Touchwiz texting app on a Samsung S3 running CyanogenMod 10.1.3? I'm not really a fan of how the Google one is set up.

Has anyone had this happen? I want to know how or why it was there. It took restarting the phone to clear it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...

Dropped calls mainly, sometimes 4-6 times during one conversation.My main irritation right now is that if I'm in the text screen or any messaging screen for that matter and I get a call my phone screen goes black and I can't answer it. It won't even let me silence the ringer.I love all of the things that this phone does, the whole android deal is awesome but lately I am seriously missing my blackberry.Will rooting help ANY of these issues or is that a waste of time?I have already watched the tutorials and written down the steps, just such a noob I'm scared. I will try it if it will help any of these issues though.
