I haven't gotten text messages in 3 days. I haven't changed any of the SMS settings so I'm wondering what happened. I can send out, but not receive. Any ideas?

Just got my refurbished Captivate in the mail today, charged and activated it as per the instructions. It worked just fine for about 30 minutes or so. I put on a few apps and showed them off to my roommate, and things were going fine. Then all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive phone calls, nor was I able to get/send text messages. With no pattern or logic I would go from 3g to edge to neither of the two symbols (just full signal strength) to the international no sign where my full bars just were. If I typed and tried to send a text while the no sign was visible it would send and receive texts as soon as I got signal back, but that would only last a few minutes.
I've tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone to factory settings, all to no avail, as well as checking my message center number. I've looked around in the forums and can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem, and I was hoping someone would have some advice or could point me to a thread that I may have missed. I'd talk to AT&T but chat hours are over and I have to be up early for work tomorrow and need my phone for that, so I'm not sure I can ask customer service tomorrow beforehand.
I just got my samsun captivate a week ago and i love it! but lately its been sending old messages that i haves sent before to people without me sending them. i look in the text log and the messages are there like if i had sent them but didnt. sometimes the messages that got sent on its own dont show up tho. why is my phone doing this? should i take it back to at&t and get another one? help. i really love this phone and dnt want to get rid of it

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had my captivate for a couple weeks now and everything has been great. All of a sudden today I stopped receiving text messages. I can send them just fine. Nothing incoming though. I checked the max per thread and all that stuff.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just got off a half hour conversation with AT&T and We cant figure out for the life of the phone, why MMS messages cannot be sent. Although, when they did send me a small AT&T logo I did receive it. And When I sent that to myself, it did send and I received it again. I then took out my SIM and put it in my BlackBerry 9700 and MMS sent find and received fine. Any size picture. I then took a picture with the camera on the Captive in Fine, Normal and Super Fine. And each picture I tried to send to myself. Each said Compressing picture and when I go to send it, it stays on sending. That guy got so fed up he told me to Google it lol. So I did, and I see some others are having the same issue.
View 38 Replies View RelatedIve noticed that when I send a text and the phone is out of signal, it just says, "FAILED" and calls it a day. I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

First, it only lets me send to 10 contacts, but more importantly when I sent it the message shows up 10 times in same window. Is that normal for android or is there some way to change that and is there something better out there to send mass texts?

I could see he was online and so could he, and he could receive the messages I sent him. However, I couldn't receive any messages he sent me (which was unfortunate since I set up a really cool Beach Boys ringtone to go off for gchat notifications...). Anyways, has anyone else had this problem?

Today I recieved a SMS from my wife and i had an option to use voice to send my reply. I don't get that option when I start HandcentSMS nor do I when I use the stock messaging app. Anyone know what app my phone might be using that has the voice option?

This is using Handcent SMS on the GalaxHero ROM, but I was getting the same issue on stock II5.

On my Captivate, I have all my contacts synced from my pc's google account. So when I click on Phone, Contacts, all my contacts have the google logo next to the phone number. When I click on Groups it shows Family, Friends, Google, etc. It has zero contacts in all groups except for 30 contacts in my Google groups.(which is all the contacts I have in my phone.) On my friends Captivate, he doesn't have his contacts synced from Google. He goes into his Contacts, Groups and can click on Family or Friends and can add people from his contacts to the Family or Friends group. I can't do this cause all my contacts are synced from Google.

This is the 2nd phone I've had because the other one was having "seizure like activity" and this is the new one I got yesterday and it STILL WILL NOT send picture messages. View 18 Replies View RelatedWell, right now, I have an iPhone 2G with a 20 dollar data plan that also includes 200 texts. It's part of a family plan, and I'm probably going to go Samsung Captivate or iPhone 4 in a few days. My questions include
1. Can I just use the 20 dollar data plan for the iPhone with that phone, like, without them knowing? Any serious consequences involved with it?
2. Similar to the first question, can I just use the non-smartphone data plan, which is 15 bucks a month, and use that with the Captivate? Would they know which phone is using it?
3. Once I switch to limited data, like 200 MB or 2 GB, can I switch back to unlimited?
I don't pay my own bills, parents do, but don't want to put on an extra 10 or 15 dollars a month right now, just for data, when I could just continue using whatever I'm using.
