I've recently got a Samsung Galaxy S.On my old Nokia, I used to be able to send and read SMS messages on the PC Sync software.Is it possible to send SMS messages from my PC via the Galaxy S, or even just via Android in general?

I just got my samsun captivate a week ago and i love it! but lately its been sending old messages that i haves sent before to people without me sending them. i look in the text log and the messages are there like if i had sent them but didnt. sometimes the messages that got sent on its own dont show up tho. why is my phone doing this? should i take it back to at&t and get another one? help. i really love this phone and dnt want to get rid of it

Today I recieved a SMS from my wife and i had an option to use voice to send my reply. I don't get that option when I start HandcentSMS nor do I when I use the stock messaging app. Anyone know what app my phone might be using that has the voice option?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOn O2 UK, APN settings look OK and I have good signal... but whenever I send a picture message it sits there sending for ages and recipients get multiple copies.
This is using Handcent SMS on the GalaxHero ROM, but I was getting the same issue on stock II5.
Ive noticed that when I send a text and the phone is out of signal, it just says, "FAILED" and calls it a day. I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

First, it only lets me send to 10 contacts, but more importantly when I sent it the message shows up 10 times in same window. Is that normal for android or is there some way to change that and is there something better out there to send mass texts?

I could see he was online and so could he, and he could receive the messages I sent him. However, I couldn't receive any messages he sent me (which was unfortunate since I set up a really cool Beach Boys ringtone to go off for gchat notifications...). Anyways, has anyone else had this problem?

Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

Plus i have tried a million different APNs to see if that would work, and it hasnt. Im able to send/recieve text messages, but i cant get MMS. I also use AT&T GoPhone as my carrier, but i didnt have this problem with my S1...
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis behaviour started some 2-3 weeks ago. I tried to analize what have I installed and only thing that looked like doing this was Wavesecure so I unistalled it (I had it blocked via autostarts anyway). But it didn't stop.
I'm actually not sure if it really sends any SMS. When I power on the phone and enter the PIN it shows me a "bubble" popup saying "Sending". None of my contacts reported receiving any SMS. I even tried to block "Messaging" from running at startup. Now it stoped but as soon as I start Handcent it shows the "Sedning" again. I tried to find any drafts that I may have left behind but I couldn't find any. Is there any solution to this? Handcent isn't the problem since I had it for almost 2 months without any issues.
I'm running II5, rooted.
Using chomp for sms on Samsung Galaxy Note. My phone sends erroneous sms without me even knowing until I get a response from contact saying "what?". When I look at the transcript of the text thread, the message is there and appears that it has been sent by me. The most recent example was a message sent to my ex-wife saying "I'm in class".
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just got off a half hour conversation with AT&T and We cant figure out for the life of the phone, why MMS messages cannot be sent. Although, when they did send me a small AT&T logo I did receive it. And When I sent that to myself, it did send and I received it again. I then took out my SIM and put it in my BlackBerry 9700 and MMS sent find and received fine. Any size picture. I then took a picture with the camera on the Captive in Fine, Normal and Super Fine. And each picture I tried to send to myself. Each said Compressing picture and when I go to send it, it stays on sending. That guy got so fed up he told me to Google it lol. So I did, and I see some others are having the same issue.

A force close didn't seem to make any difference clicked back to the home screen, powered off, waited a minute and restarted.Everything started up fine. Went back to Social Hub only to find that ALL my text threads are gone.E-mails are fine, but all my texts are gone.I know there is no way to undelete text messages, but technically I didn't delete them. They must be stored somewhere. Is they anyway to retrieve them or has the system "deleted" them? View 2 Replies View RelatedAlthough the promise of an Android phone is still exciting to me, I have to admit my first experience is leaving me less enthused. I was finally able to do the magic 15 second driver install and got 1.6.3.3 installed without any seeming issues. Since then it's been a long road. 1. The phone overclocks at 610, but definitely is unstable at 710. 2. I get constant FC messages. In accordance with a posting I found somewhere I got MinFreeManager and changed the defaults to: Foreground 8 Visible 10 Secondary 10 Hidden 24 Content 26 Empty 24 and that seemed to help. I also am using ADW, and wiping the Launcher.apk in /system/app seemed to help. But it's still a problem. 3. Audio and Bluetooth are problematic. I wiped the default Music.apk and tried Meridian which does seem to deal with the headphone bug. But mysteriously Meridian often plays one or two songs and then just stops. And Bluetooth A2DP is erratic and full of gaps. 4. All of these would be surmountable if it actually worked consistently as a phone, and that's were things that getting bad.......

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe market place was working fine until today when I started getting multiple "download successful" messages. I've tried the following to fix it.
1. go to your settings
2. select "applications"
3. then select "manage applications"
4. press menu and select "filter" then "All"
5. scroll down to:
a) "Checkin Service" then select "clear data"
b) "Download Manager" then select "clear data"
c) "Google Apps" then "clear data"
d) "Google Talk Service" then select "clear data"
e) " Market" then select "clear cache"
However, when I try step 5c) I don't get the option to clear the data, just force stop. Does anyone know how I can get the "clear data" option? I've also deselected Autoupdate time and date.
My wife has noticed that when she does a text message, once it has gone over a certain character limit (which seems to be about 50 characters), when she hits send a message comes up saying 'Converting to MMS' (or something like that). On all our other phones, if you do a long text like this it just sends the message as mutliple texts instead of converting to mms.
What this means is that as it goes as mms instead of a text message, she gets charged for it (she gets unlimted texts on her plan, but this doesnt include mms).
Is this normal with the SGS, or is there a way to stop it converting to mms?

I know it lights up and makes a sound when a new message comes, but afterwards there is no way to find out without pressing the middle button or the side unlock button.
I am so used to having a blinking LED message indicator in my previous nokia, I think it�s a really nice feature, because you can know just by looking at the phone without even touching it, very handy at night or when your phone is out of reach. I�m really going to miss that feature.
I went to send a text message today, and all of my conversations had been cleared. This has happened once before about a year ago and I eventually gave up trying to restore my messages. How to prevent it? I'm thinking the message database is somehow getting corrupted which is why it's clearing out all of my conversations?
I'm running 2.3.3 - my phone was rooted at some point but I'm guessing after an OS update I lost that capability. This happened before the OS update and now after.

I'm able to send messages from my Google Talk on Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.1 update 1.
However, I'm not receiving any messages at all from anyone. This is making me feel horribly disabled.
Has anyone found any solution to this problem?
I tried several things like restarting the phone, clearing Google talk service and app cache, signing out and back in, etc. I don't want to reset the phone again and loose all my current setup. I've read some posts that reset also doesnt work.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI got my Samsung Galaxy Precedent last week, and after some bumps trying to get used to this, I've been able to fix most problems I've had, except with images in texts.
I can send or attach messages to texts, but I don't get any images being sent to me. The Precedent runs on Straight Talk's network, and has "unlimited" talk, text and data. It's letting me send as far as I know, but I can't get any incoming pics in texts.
