I rooted my phone yesterday and haven't done anything except remove AT&T bloat ware, install launcher pro, Titanium backup, and busy box. I haven't received any texts since yesterday but all calls and outgoing texts work fine. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to un root?

I'm wondering if it's possible to block my phone from receiving incoming texts through VZW. I'm using GV for texting and want to completely drop my texting plan but also don't want to get hit with loads of texts coming to the wrong number. Is there just a way to prevent incoming texts altogether?
Obviously, I plan to send out a couple of "notices" of the change of number BUT you know how some people are...they just won't change the number and forget by the next time they try to text me...LOL (well sort of!) I don't want to pay per text. That could get expensive FAST!
I just activated my new fascinate and can not receive or send texts from my GF (who is on att) but I can get texts from my roommates (on verizon). Anyone know what the deal is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my Vibrant a week after launch date, I noticed most people would tell me they had been calling me but I never received the call. Sometimes they said it would go straight to voicemail, sometimes it would ring and ring and ring with no answer and voicemail never coming on. Some times I wouldn't get text messages either, or just get the text messages hours after it was sent.
I ended up having to switch to Edge, which I really don't like because it's so much slower in my area than 3G. I know 3G is not what carries phonecalls, and that it shouldn't really matter. But my girlfriend and I both bought a Vibrant the same day, and we both have the same problem. She has gotten her Vibrant exchanged for a new one about a month ago since it ended up having a problem with the SD Card, and I had to get my Vibrant replaced a few weeks ago as well because my first one was lagging like crazy, and freezing............
I own a Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket on AT&T's GO Phone network and I haven't been able to receive confirmation texts from apps and businesses that require phone number verification (Uber, Facebook, Twitter, ect.) Even services like ChaCha can't get through to me. Is there a setting I can turn off to allow these messages to come through?

On my Captivate, I have all my contacts synced from my pc's google account. So when I click on Phone, Contacts, all my contacts have the google logo next to the phone number. When I click on Groups it shows Family, Friends, Google, etc. It has zero contacts in all groups except for 30 contacts in my Google groups.(which is all the contacts I have in my phone.) On my friends Captivate, he doesn't have his contacts synced from Google. He goes into his Contacts, Groups and can click on Family or Friends and can add people from his contacts to the Family or Friends group. I can't do this cause all my contacts are synced from Google.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday I noticed that I would occasionally receive multiples of the same text message. It started out only being once or twice, but it has increased in frequency. Today, I reset my phone with Odin3 and installed SRE 1.2.2a. Also, I added the lag fix. Unfortunately after resetting, I am still experiencing the same problem. I thought it was an issue with handcent, so I switched to chompSMS and the same thing is happening. Most recently, I have received the same text message 7 times, and it was originally sent an hour ago. The odd thing is that each copy that is sent to me shows the ORIGINAL send time, so its something on my end that is going wrong. For the record I have notifications only turned on for one SMS client at a time, so thats not an issue. i have toyed around with my sms settings and everything but for some reason I still am getting this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWell, right now, I have an iPhone 2G with a 20 dollar data plan that also includes 200 texts. It's part of a family plan, and I'm probably going to go Samsung Captivate or iPhone 4 in a few days. My questions include
1. Can I just use the 20 dollar data plan for the iPhone with that phone, like, without them knowing? Any serious consequences involved with it?
2. Similar to the first question, can I just use the non-smartphone data plan, which is 15 bucks a month, and use that with the Captivate? Would they know which phone is using it?
3. Once I switch to limited data, like 200 MB or 2 GB, can I switch back to unlimited?
I don't pay my own bills, parents do, but don't want to put on an extra 10 or 15 dollars a month right now, just for data, when I could just continue using whatever I'm using.
Just got my refurbished Captivate in the mail today, charged and activated it as per the instructions. It worked just fine for about 30 minutes or so. I put on a few apps and showed them off to my roommate, and things were going fine. Then all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive phone calls, nor was I able to get/send text messages. With no pattern or logic I would go from 3g to edge to neither of the two symbols (just full signal strength) to the international no sign where my full bars just were. If I typed and tried to send a text while the no sign was visible it would send and receive texts as soon as I got signal back, but that would only last a few minutes.
I've tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone to factory settings, all to no avail, as well as checking my message center number. I've looked around in the forums and can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem, and I was hoping someone would have some advice or could point me to a thread that I may have missed. I'd talk to AT&T but chat hours are over and I have to be up early for work tomorrow and need my phone for that, so I'm not sure I can ask customer service tomorrow beforehand.
I used chompSMS, and after updating to their 4.6 version, I was no longer able to receive text messages. I tried everything and finally resorted to doing a factory reset, now everything is working, and I am receiving all the messages I was supposed to get during the period it wasn't working. Now that I am getting all the messages, I realize that I wasn't getting them from before the update as well. I guess chomp is not to blame.

I could see he was online and so could he, and he could receive the messages I sent him. However, I couldn't receive any messages he sent me (which was unfortunate since I set up a really cool Beach Boys ringtone to go off for gchat notifications...). 1) My ringer, when someone calls me, starts off quiet for a few seconds then goes to full volume. The ringtone I have doesn't do that by itself, it must be a setting. Is there a way to make it ring full volume as soon as someone calls me?
2) Is there a way to make the phone vibrate when receiving a text message either while the phone is on vibrate or on normal volume.
I am having trouble hearing the beeps that are heard for incoming calls when I am listening to music. Is there anyway to change this to something more obvious?
Either making it louder and the music playing quieter, or even pausing the music and notifcation sounds or ringtone playing would be good. I cant seem to find a fix. I am missing many calls like this.

this happens sometimes but not all the time if im in a conversation with someone i wont recieve a text from the for a while but once i call someone or send another text i will recieve a text from them that they sent a while ago anyone know a fix for this.

I checked hand cent delivery report under the hand cent settings and unchecked delivery report from carrier. I searched all the other menus and can't figure it out. I get one pop up that has a done/later/eply window and then another underneath that is bigger that has little icons(paper,mike,person,trash and volume) Is this normal behavior? Or is there a setting that I just cannot find.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my EVO has decided to stop accepting any incoming calls, texts, or voice mails. I was only able to receive these messages when I was able to get a call to connect and I got a flood of voice mails and texts as if it hadn't been connected to the network the entire time. It also does this thing where it doesn't connect the call when I dial someone. Instead of connecting and seeing the time duration for the call appear, it instead takes forever to connect and just says dialing for a really long time. It was doing it last night, and then this morning it seemed to be normal again, but now it's doing it again. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I won't have time to go to sprint until Monday and this is really irritating me.

I've noticed that I am receiving double texts from people. Its not just from one person, but a few (but not everyone). I will receive a text say at 7pm and then at 3am, I will receive the same text again. This only happens periodically and not for every text I receive. I think this might be a Sprint issue and not an EVO issue. Anyone else experiencing this?

I spent an hour of useless troubleshooting with him having to turn my phone off and on a bunch and doing a factory reset. After that didn't fix it (surprise surprise, all that inconvenience for nothing) he tells me I'll have to have it replaced with a refurb. I told him that I don't consider a refurbished phone to be an equal replacement and I'm happy to pay a fee of some kind to get a new Eris, just like I would if I went through the insurance (cause those are new, right? if they're refurbs I'll be pissed...). He LAUGHED at me, and said "Every time a phone comes to the end of its term people call in with excuses to get the new model. This is why we don't make exceptions, or else more people like you would be calling in."

I have an S3 rooted running the latest AOKP ROM.
When one particular contact of mine sends me a text I will receive an old text instead. Sometimes from that conversation, that day or it may be even older than that. Usually I receive the new text they sent me at some point later but not always. The contact is on the same carrier (Verizon) and using an iPhone 4. I should add that this was also happening on my Motorola Razr (same particular contact). The Razr was rooted and had a new ROM as well, but I believe it also did it when I went back to the stock ROM.
Does this sound like and issue with my friend's phone or mine? Her phone does not do this with any other person but me. And mine doesn't do it with any other person than her.
It happens when using stock messaging or Handcent.
