So I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

Much of the time I get a text message from an iPhone it either:
1) Comes through multiple times (this happens with AT&T iPhones)
Or
2) Comes through chopped up into individual messages that are also displayed out of order (usually from Verizon iPhones)
I have a screenshot of issue No. 2 but the AC app is not letting me upload it for some reason (never had an issue before) and I can't get the link to work from the desktop (grrr)
Are these issues because of iMessage and what looks like its inability to play well with anything non-Apple? LG-E970
Newly replaced Eris, so I'm reinstalling a lot of apps. But now I've forgotten how I fixed this problem the last time. I'm getting double the messages (and notifications), via both Messages and Handscent. All i really wanna see/hear from/use is Handscent.

Or at least plans to do so?I have been looking at this issue for a while, because in a corporate environment it is essential to be able to push information out, or trigger actions via SMS or other connections.I have successfully sent an SMS between emulator instances, and successfully received an SMS by using a BroadcastReceiver on another emulator instance. I have also been able to use SmsManager. sendDataMessage to send a data message to a port on another emulator instance, but in this case the BroadcastReceiver is never triggered. This seems to be the closest the API's get to what I'm looking for.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm writing an app which contains three tabs.. let's just call them TabA, TabB, and TabC.
In my main class which extends TabActivity I have a Bluetooth Adapter which handles sending and receiving messages. I initialize the BluetoothAdapter onStart. Part of the initialization tries to reference controls on the three tabs. But my problem is that only TabA (my default tab) has been initialized at this point so when it tries to access TabB and TabC, they're still null.. How can I initialize all 3 activities, and access controls on each of the tabs when receiving messages from the BluetoothAdapter? (Basically I want TabA to contain a TextView to log all messages, TabB will contain a few controls like sliders and checkboxes that will change based on the messages recieved, and TabC will just have an array of buttons that send specific data..)
So today I tried using the Google Talk app with a friend of mine who was at his computer. I could see he was online and so could he, and he could receive the messages I sent him. However, I couldn't receive any messages he sent me (which was unfortunate since I set up a really cool Beach Boys ringtone to go off for gchat notifications...). Anyways, has anyone else had this problem?

Just bought the droid and I cant text certain individuals they never receive my text I can get texts from them but they don't receive mine but its only certain people thanks in advance for your feedback.

I use the same translator and it sends the SMS in English only. I am wondering if this is an issue with the app, the phone or is this the way the phone works.

The only program I can see that could be causing it is SMS Pop Up, but I don't know if that is a culprit or has been known to do that. My girlfriend who was sitting next to me started getting text messages. She received about 13 instantly from me that she previously received from me.Can anyone decipher this dilemma?

Obviously I need a way to test this, in particular, sending and receiving MMS messages. I have one Android phone, a Nexus One. I know that MMS's cannot be sent between emulator instances, but other than using up loads of MMS credit, is there another way of testing out MMS sending/receiving without just spending loads of money?

One picture took around 10 minutes to send. My apartment has bad reception, but when I sent these messages I had 3g and 3 reception bars. Is this normal?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried the steps above, and it didn't work. I then compared it to the steps on the other link, and there it says to do mtdblock4, not mtdblock3
So I typed mtdblock4 instead, and I rebooted from the adb shell in the computer.
The boot animation went fine, and then when I got to my homescreen, I freaked out!
It is all black. Instead of the unlock button, there is a green button with an airplane symbol on it. It says NO SERVICE.
The bar IS transparent, but it has these weird symbols on it, not the normal ones.
AND, to make it worse, EVERYTHING is force closing. I'm getting messages after messages of force closing. NOTHING works.
I can't even pull down the notification bar to get mount my sdcard in order to delete the .apk file from there. All these stupid force close messages keep propping up.
Also, it says that the date is Wednesday, December 31 (the 31 is a thursday, though), and it has a time of 6 hours from now.
NOW,
I am actually still in debugging mode, and I still have access to adb shell.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
(Why oh why did I have to root my beautiful Droid! I think I killed it!)
I've been enjoying my phone so far but now its running kinda slow in the message department, so I figured I'd clear out all my messages, all 3000+ plus. Android just doesn't want to delete them, I've heard that it can take 5+ minutes to delete message threads 500+, I'm screwed because one of my threads has over 2000! This phone should be storing older txt messages to the sdcard anyway, not sure why it wouldn't. Basically this thread was made to complain how crappy clearing out messages was.
View 49 Replies View RelatedA couple of my friends and I all have the Eris. I seem to be the only one that has messaging issues though. If I try to delete a thread with over 30 messages the phone freezes up and I eventually have to hit the home button to make anything happen. When I'm on the home screen I click messages again to see if it did delete the thread and ALL my threads are gone and it says Compose Message at the top. But it freezes again. I end up restarting my phone, going back to the messages and they are all back like I never touched them.
Every time I try to explain this people seem to think I don't understand how to delete a thread. That is not the issue! If the thread is under 30 messages it deletes fine! I have to delete facebook statuses all the time. The only way I could clear a 700 count thread was to one by one delete the messages. What is going on? Is it just my phone and hopefully an update is coming? Or do I have a setting turned on that I need to change?
I have been using the Yahoo messenger app for the last week or so without problems, but today I have not been able to receive any messages. A phone call to a friend confirmed they were getting them from me, but I could not see anything back from them. One friend said she sent me over 50 messages throughout the day, to see if I would get one. I was signed in at the time, but never saw any of them. When I got home, I signed in on the computer and was hoping to see a flood of the messages, but nothing popped up. My guess is, the messages were getting sent and confirmed, since I was signed in through the phone, but the app was not displaying them.

I've read about text message issues on the Hero, but so far not anything about the Eris yet. For instance, a text that I sent days ago will send again on power on and sometimes this gets kind of awkward does anybody know a fix or anything to this?

1. How do I delete ALL text messages from ALL contacts?
2. How do I un-grey the notification sound options?
My phone is incapable of sending MMS messages...everytime I try, the phone goes to send the message, but never completes sending. I have tried the default message app, as well as Handcent.Same results with both. Any tips for what I may be doing wrong? Only other piece of info that might be relevant is that the picture I'm trying to send first says "picture too large - resize?" and then I do resize it (comes out at 9k I believe).

My question is how to set android to do multiple rings for texts instead of once? Also, is there a way to make it sound the notification ringtone for texts only, and not for app alerts, like the weather channel widget?

So I sent one and while I didn't receive any kind of message that it didn't go, he didn't receive it.He turned around and took a picture and sent it to me and I didn't receive it.It's probably a setting but I can't find it, can someone please direct me in the right direction
