Sep 8, 2010in about a month or so my cntract will be up and I was woondering bfore I buy the samsung captivate from att if it can download third party apps without havng to be rooted this will determine wether I get it or not because I nd wireless tether for my house I had it on my windows htc pure so.

Aug 29, 2010Is it just me, or has anyone noticed that if you use any other USB cable aside from the one provided, that your Captivate only charges up to 50%? I tried using the sync cable from my old Nokia (which is that same USB A type to mini B like the Captivate), plugged into the Samsung wall charger, and even after a full night of being on the charger, the battery indicator was only at 50%! What's the deal with that!? The other thing to note is that, when I use the Samsung cable and the Samsung charger, it just charges, like what you'd expect. But if I say, use my Samsung charger, and the USB cable instead, it prompts me with the same question you get as if plugging into a PC (Mass Storage, Kies, Media player, etc.)What's going on re?

Jul 21, 2010I'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

Aug 17, 2013I've just moved into as SG Mega. But have a problem with contacts. All my contacts have safely come down from Google and appear to all be there and fine, however my third-party apps aren't seeing them. If I start a text message in "Messaging", it reads the contacts and offers me choices. But if I do the same in "Handsent", my messaging app of choice, it does not. Likewise, "Gmail" sees the email addresses in my contacts fine, whereas my regular email app, K9, does not.

Dec 22, 2009About a week ago when I booted my phone everything forced closed while the desktop loaded up (phone, gps, settings, etc...) and nothing worked except third party apps (thank god.) Well I rebooted and everything worked fine after that... Fast forward to today and it started happening again except this time no matter what I did nothing would work. I even dropped the phone off with a Sprint service center (my device is a Sprint Hero) and they just ordered me a new phone because nothing they did worked. After I left Sprint I went out to eat and while eating I kept messing with my phone more and more until I admitted defeat and started backing up all my apps with Astro . Welllll apparently somewhere along the way I got this effing awesome idea to uninstall via Astro all the applications I've downloaded in the last week and freaking bam; phone works again. Here's a list of applications I deleted and I've starred the ones.

Feb 25, 2014I have a Sprint HTC One. I recently flashed a new ROM. VENOM 5.0 which supports my PDA.
So, after installing it I downloaded all the required apps and they worked fine.
Later the next morning when I switched on my data connection, all the apps ran on data and everything went on well. Then I installed Root Firewall PRO and set all my required settings, after that none of the third party apps didn't receive any data connection. Neither Whatsapp nor Facebook Messenger received data. Even though they are only messaging apps, they also did not receive any Data Connection.
General :: Kitkat 4.4.2 - Duplicate SMS Using 3rd Party (non-default) Apps
May 29, 2014I've noticed something since I updated my phone to kitkat 4.4.2 (it's a Z1 compact).
Whenever I use another app than my default app to send SMS, eg. I'm using SMSPopup, Glowfly or event another "real" SMS app along with my default one (let's say hangouts or Handcent), I have duplicate sent SMS, that means I have twice my sent messages in my list. I didn't have this issue on JB.
I tried to tweak access/read/write permissions via AppOps but the result is still the same. I now have to use the same app for popups/Notifications and SMS. Other SMS apps are useless because they duplicate the text messages.

Granted, I don't think gallery/music/video uses data, but still. It seems weird that they just decide to start up. Is there any way to BLOCK applications from starting up unless I do it myself? Or at least a way to make sure they don't use the data network unless I say? I have ATK, but they still start on their own randomly.
