View 8 Repliesjust got home and my UPS package was waiting for me! Got my vibrabt tonight. My super amoled screen will not produce any true whites. Web pages and anything that should be white has a gray tone to it. Is this normal or is my unit defective?Quick update. After adjusting all the brightness settings the gray tone now looks like a blue tint. Anything that should be white looks either gray or a cool blue tint. Anyone else with this issue?
I've been comparing my vibrant to other vibrants. It appears not every vibrant has this blue tint, some do infact display warm whites instead of cool blues. I don't know why some Super Amoleds are displaying blue tint while others don't, but I think the warm whites produce a better result.
I'm going to swap my iphone 4 for a captivate this afternoon.
Are folks still seeing any occurances of the extreme blue tint?
Just wondering if I should have them open a few boxes for me to look at....
I had a little time with the captivate today and noticed it has 4(i think) horizontal scrolling screens for apps. What happens when you fill those? Does it automatically add another one or what?

I have update our game to be able to handle devices with rotated screens (http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/09/one-screen- turn-deserves-another.html#links). I used a Motorola Flipout as a reference device and that one works great. The problem is that when the update with that fix came out I started to get reports that our game had stopped working for Dell Streak.
Do anyone know if there are special problems with screen rotation related to accelerometer output on Dell Streak?
And do anyone know what Dell Streak returns on the android.view.Display.getRotation() function call?
I am trying to display a SpreadSheet in the Android application with auot adjustable columns and each columns should surrounded by lines.I used the Table Layout the data are displayed in the Table format but i don't know how to surround each column with lines, auto adjustment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I painfully watched my Cappy's battery door crushed under my friend's car as one of their "harmless" joke. Now there's not a single site on the internet selling these doors, and I'm desperate. I found dummy/display Captivates though, so I was just wondering if anyone knows if the dummy battery door can replace the REAL door by any chance?

View 49 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that will randomly change your home screen and wallpaper to a different one at some pre-determined interval, say every time the phone restarts? There are so many cool looking home screens and wallpapers that I can't make up my mind. It would be nice to select a bunch and then have them randomly selected every restart or specified interval, kind of like shuffle on a CD player.

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust a quick question about the Captivate. I just got myself an HTC Aria and I love how easy it is to use the touch screen on it. Its extremely responsive. Now my sister has the SamSung Instinct on Sprint and the touch screen is horrible compared to HTCs touch on the Aria. Im thinking about taking the HTC back to AT&T and getting the Samsung Captivate. I am just worried about the touch screen on it and if it will be like the Instincts? If the touch is as good as HTCs Ill get it. If its not, then Ill stick with the Aria because despite its size, its an extremely fun and responsive phone. Any thoughts?
View 10 Replies View RelatedTwo related questions regarding the Captivate's built-in "Contact" app - both dealing with linked contacts from Gmail and Facebook:
1)Has anyone found a way to change which picture is displayed for a linked contact? On the HTC Aria, you could choose whether you wanted the picture from Gmail or the one from Facebook.
2)Has anyone found a way to change the displayed name in Contacts. Again, on the HTC Aria, you could pick whether to display the name from your Gmail contact or the one from the Facebook contact.
After 18 months of dealing with Apple's crap, I switched to an Android. I picked up the AT&T Captivate yesterday at a store in another city (50 miles away) since my local store wasn't open on Sunday. I love this phone. The display is crisp, the response speed is smoking and surprisingly, I like the touch whiz interface, so far. I am having an issue however. When I left the store, I was on EDGE, and all was fine. Drove home on the EDGE network and had EDGE in town yesterday. When I got home I setup my wireless network on it and the web was crisp. Played for a bit, then went to bed. This morning, when I left for work and left range of my home wireless, The phone didn't pick up the EDGE network. ie. I have no EDGE connection. I've rebooted the phone and still no EDGE. (3G doesn't exist in this 1/2 horse town...sigh) I got EDGE pretty much everywhere with my I phone 3G in this crappy little town.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone have an issue with their Captivate Display turning on by itself?
Lately my Cappy will turn itself on and stay on. For example, I have my phone on my desk, and the phone display will turn on, and stay on. No message, phone call, text or meeting reminder is received.
I have done everything that I can think of in order to increase my battery life. I even took the old jeep to the shop to get the AC port fixed so I can charge in my car. I don't know if I have a genuine problem here or if I am just being picky. I know I have been using my phone more the past 3 days because it is a new toy and I can't keep my hands off of it, but I have noticed that the battery does not last more than 8 hour of normal use before it is completely depleted. I rooted it, removed the bloat, turned of GPS and Wireless assist, don't use WIFI, installed a task manager, and turned screen brightness to the minimum.
With all that being said the phone still does not last near what I think it should be. I have had it for 3 days now, so I am guessing what I am hearing from other people is that my battery should be broken in by now. I don't know what else to try. I noticed that when I check the battery use, the display is usually 70+ percent. Is there some day to decrease the brightness beyond the stock settings or something to increase life?Does it sound like I may need to do a battery swap. I know I have been playing with the phone more, but I feel like I haven't been using it so much that it should die that quickly.
are there any shortcuts available? for instance, on the iphone while listening to music and the display turns off, I could double click to home button to display the player's controls. also, i think i saw in another thread that the captivate does NOT support headphone controls.. this stinks. my headphones have a button where I can pause the song.. or use it to answer the phone I receive a call.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI never do graphics type programming. I'm designing a screen that will need to look good on all phones, and all resolutions. It's for displaying in a list view, and there will be a small graphic for the summary view, and a larger graphic for the detail view. Normally I use a 32x32 (res 72x72ppi).png for the summary view which looks good on my G1. The second image is for the detail view and it basically should fill the entire width of the screen (roughly, it's ok if it doesn't use the entire width as long as none of it is chopped off). The size I use for my G1 is 468x60.
So, the question for the guys that really know this stuff is: What sizes do I need to make these images to support all screens and densities with the fewest number of images? I know that the answer is a little subjective, but I remember seeing a post with a link to a page that recommended 3 different images for the different screens (and it seemed to make sense when I read it), and I think but don't remember for sure that then you would need 6 layouts to support those with both landscape and portrait orientations.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just updated to Galaxhero and I love it except one quite big and annoying problem with internet connection. Problem occurs when I try to set up the APN for my service provider. I have to change the MNC from 05 to 21. So I did put all the settings in and pressed save. What happens I found out the whole APN is gone.
Played around a bit with it, and noticed that if I touch to MNC setting and change it to other than 05, it causes that very APN to disappear from APN list. Is there any way to fix this? Somehow maybe modifying the "default" MNC to 21 if there's no fix for the disappearing one? Sad thing is that I don't have 3g without it.
