Samsung Captivate :: Screen Not Very Bright Compared To My Ipod Touch

Why is the IPOD touch brighter on white back ground than my new captivate?
Just a quick question about the Captivate. I just got myself an HTC Aria and I love how easy it is to use the touch screen on it. Its extremely responsive. Now my sister has the SamSung Instinct on Sprint and the touch screen is horrible compared to HTCs touch on the Aria. Im thinking about taking the HTC back to AT&T and getting the Samsung Captivate. I am just worried about the touch screen on it and if it will be like the Instincts? If the touch is as good as HTCs Ill get it. If its not, then Ill stick with the Aria because despite its size, its an extremely fun and responsive phone. Any thoughts?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've found a lot to complain about (see the wishlist thread). But there's a lot good with this device. My list:
- Beautiful bright screen. I really do think that it puts the ip4 to shame in the combination of size and brightness. The ip4 screen is a better resolution but for the things I use a phone for, this one has it whipped.
- Ergonomic perfection. It is weighted beautifully, and sits in my hand nicely. I never feel as if its too big or I'm going to drop it.
- Implementation of keyboard. Android keyboard works great; swype is pretty nifty too. Im already more comfortable typing on this onscreen keyboard than I was with the physical blackberry 9700 keypad.
- Great as a phone. Its loud, nice dialing features, clear and crisp conversations on both ends of the line, and a nice distortion free speaker. THis makes me happy happy as I found the phone aspect of the HTC aria to be a bit lacking (not loud enough, crappy speakerphone, folks on the other end thought sound quality bit.)
- Speed. I know I've complained about lag, but that seems to be a transient issue. By and large, its a very snappy phone and moves into most apps quickly.
Okay so here is another strange thing I noticed with the update.2 of the 3 phones that got the update now have a little home icon on the bottom of one of the touchwiz screens when you are in the edit mode. This page with the home icon can now be moved to whereever you want it in the positioning of the 1-7 screens you have and when you click on the "home" key at the very bottom it will go to that screen. Previously there was no home key and your home screen was either the middle or far left screen depending on the number of screens you had.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm really struggling between the EVO and the iphone 4.My HTC Touch Pro looked shiny when I bought it a year and a half ago, and now it feels obsolete. I can barely use it for more that texting/phone, far less than the device promised. In the time I've had it, there was one update which mostly just fixed bugs. And in my other pocket I have a first generation ipod touch that feels superior in every way, except the phone part.I have no confidence in HTC's ability to support it's products and improve them over time, Apple does do this, my ipod touch is better than when I bought it four years ago. But the EVO runs android and it looks like that is something that is going to develop over time. Will the device be able to rely on android in that way? I'm already seeing people suggest that HTC will lag behind android updates because they'll fail to update their android skins in a timely manner. Can the EVO run on just android if that UI experience turns out to be better than what HTC can offer?
My other primary concern is itunes syncing. I have dozens of 'smart playlists' that I've pretty carefully designed to change and improve with my listening habits, and all of my podcasts sync through itunes. Also, I've been using 'itunes U' to listen to full courses and my itunes is set up so that every time I sync my finished lectures are replaced with the next in the series.... So, I'm sure many of you have seen the EVO "tutorial" showing you how to load music onto the device, literally just dumping files onto the devices hard drive, that is effing laughable. Is there a reasonable way to sync and listen to music on the EVO?
Anyone notice compared to other screens the saoled display makes whites look kind of bluish?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been wondering, after I upgrade from the Moment to another Android phone in the future, and no longer have Sprint service on the Moment, can the Moment be used on wifi to browse Internet, check email, play games, etc?
In other words, like how the iPod Touch can be used without service, or a jailbroken iPhone.
I am used to doing my music and playlists through Itunes. Now that I have my EVO, I would like to use my EVO as my music player instead of carrying my phone and iPOD everywhere. Please help me and suggest the proper apps to use to allow me to create and save playlists as well as a good music player.

Have you sold yours? will you sell it or are you still into it after having a droid?

I'm upgrading from my Blackberry Storm (for obvious reasons) to the HTC Incredible. So I'm having a tough time deciding if I should sell my iPod Touch when I get the Incredible. Is the music player as user friendly and high quality as the iPod's? How is the browser speed over WiFi?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI know this gets asked from time to time, just thought I would ask to see if anything has changed. Is there a current or an announced future of hardware similar in size and price to the Ipod Touch that supports Android 2.X?My guess is that the answer is no. Apple can sell it at low margin because of the Itunes store lock in, which is not applicable to sellers of Android hardware.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am currently using a dumb phone and an iPod Touch for my mobile needs. I was hoping Apple would come out with a Verizon model, but that may or may not ever happen. I have been reading about the new Droid X and have been impressed with what I've read. However, I have a number of apps on my iPod that I use on a regular basis and am wondering how happy I would be with what's available for the Droid.I am using Gmail, so that's not a problem. I use Apple's address book and have not been satisfied with the way Google handles that, so I would need to be able to sync my contacts to Apple. I have tons of music and audio books in iTunes, I have a number of books from Audible.com, and I use Fluent News for the iPod for my newspaper fix (along with an AP app, the NY Times, and USA Today). I have a diet program that keeps my meals on the iPod, not on the web, and allows me to quickly enter without any fuss the foods I eat and gives me a balance of how many calories I have left (and allows me to customize the food bank without having to scan through hundreds of foods I don't eat). I have a few e-books from Project Gutenberg that I read on Stanza, though any e-book program that would allow me to access them would work fine. I also keep my ToDo list on Toodledo and use their iPod app to access it on the move.
Have any of you made the move from an iPod or iPhone to a Droid? How happy are you with the apps. Would the Droid have apps that would give me what I have above (not the same developers, of course, but something comparable)? I've done some reading and my son-in-law let me play with an older model Droid, but before I invest, I would like to know more. I can return the Droid X to Verizon within 30 days with a re-stocking fee, so a switch that didn't work wouldn't be devastating, but I hate to invest the time if I don't have a good chance of being satisfied.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI see a previous question about the fact that the Blue tooth technology on an iphone will only allow it to pair with the Nike shoe thing and some kind of head set, and will not allow it to pair to the Droid for transferring files or even to access internet. So, is there a way to use the wireless capabilities of the Droid to share its internet connection since the ipod touch can also use wi-fi? I don't have an ipod touch or I'd try it but I'd like to buy one (for the wife) and if we're in the car, she can use my droid's Verizon signal to get on the internet with the ipod torch's wi-fi capabilities.

I was a little hesitant to order based on the flak the N1 screen got regarding resolution and fuzzy text, but I've found the improved vividness of the colors more than makes up for the very slight degradation in sharpness.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got home with my new Droid and I am wondering if I got a lemon. My screen seems very dim. I didnt really notice it in the store, however compared to my Droid Eris (which is at about 30% screen brightness) the Droid looks much dimmer, even when its at 100% brightness. The only other thing I can think of is that its the Invisible Shield the guy at Best Buy applied for free. Do they dim the screen at all? With my Eris I can literally have it turned to 25% brightness and it seems brighter than the Droid at full. As does my iPod touch. It has to be turned down to 50% or so before it matches the Droid at full. I have turned off auto brightness and manually turned up the Droid to full.
