Is this plastic really necessary? My brother says it helps protect the back of the screen from the slide out mechanism.I'm asking because some of it is starting to come off through regular use and I'm wondring if it's gonna be a problem if it is necessary and it all comes off.

I've had my droid since day 1.I just noticed a clear plastic film on the back of my screen when I slide it open.Is this just a temporary throw away plastic protector?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I noticed some (protective) plastic on the back of the sliding screen today. I gave it a little flick to see if it was meant to stay, but it peeled right off. Seems to be part of the plastic films put on before shipping. Can't believe I haven't seen this in over 2 months (of course I rarely slide it open).Sliding mechanism is much smoother now and certainly not loose.It has also opened up a whole new Droid Feature: It is so shiny and reflective on the back of the slider now, if you get lost in the woods and are out of cel reception, you can use the back of the slider to reflect the sun and signal the rescue plane while still playing your favorite game to pass the time Droid does Survival tool!
View 30 Replies View RelatedI had my X sent to me through the mail, which I've never done before. Always I've bought my phones in a store so the phone unboxing and set up has always been done for me. Since there was no instruction booklet I was left to my own devices. There was a little piece of plastic in the back that was marked pull or lift, so I did, thinking it was some sort of protection for the inerds while shipping. Pulled it completely off and then put the battery in. Now I think I've come to realize, that was to make pulling out the battery easier.
My question is this, is the sole purpose of that piece of plastic for pulling the battery out, or is it also protective layer between the phone and the battery? Should I get it replaced? Or am I fine leaving as is and it just being a pain to pull the battery out?
The plastic edge that runs around the lower part of the slider on my phone is a bit loose right next to where you plug the micro USB into the phone. It's very minimal, just a little bit of give that you can't actually see but if you press against it there is a slight clicking noise from the plastic edge moving slightly.

Its not noticeble unless you actually touch that part. And now that i know its there its bugging the heck out of me. I would like to know if anyone has this same problem. Or is there a way to fix this? i would really like to know.It's never been dropped or banged.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMore specifically, the rubber/plastic edge that runs around the keyboard the the edge of the keyboard itself (the piece without the letters).I got a tiny bit of super glue on that rubber/plastic (I'm sure it's plastic but it feels kind of rubbery) edge. I'm debating about trying to remove it (it's almost unnoticeable, except to me, meaning I'll notice it constantly ).I know acetone will remove super glue. I've heard that rubbing alcohol can too, which is why I would try it first (it's less caustic than acetone, less chance of damaging the plastic). Is this a bad idea? Also, if rubbing alcohol works, would the alcohol that's on alcohol wipes (like the screen cleaner wipes) work as well? They're both isopropyl so I don't see why it wouldn't (the concentrations may be different, that's the only thing I can think of).

Hard to tell from pictures, and I haven't found any official data on this.I'm hoping for a nice aluminum build like the Nokia N8/Moto Devour/ Original Droid, but even if it is a hard plastic, at least it's a matte finish which is superior to the "finger print magnet" finish of its rival EVO 4G.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased my Incredible only a few weeks after it was first released.Love it haven't had problems like a lot of the other people here when they first bought it.Anyways I love my phone.What I don't love however, is the freaking case I purchased when I first got the phone. Was a verizon snap on hard cover broke recently.Being the clutz that I am, I left the phone on my lap while in the car, and when I stepped out I forgot it was there and BOOM, clanked on the concrete.Have some abrasions on the shiny black plastic around the screen.I was wondering, is there anyway to fix this, or have it repaired? anything?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm on the phone and talk for over 15 mins or so my screen won't come back on.It goes off when I put it against my head like it is supposed to and comes back on when I pull it away like it should. But after 15 mins or so it goes off and wont come back on when I pull it away. So I can't end my call and when it's time to end the call of course I can't, nor can I get a call waiting. I had my phone's display set to time out after 10 mins then changed that to never time out but it still does this. However this setting shouldn't matter I wouldn't think, but it doesn't help either way. I'm having to do a battery pull to get my screen back,I have no other issues other than this. I hope I don't have to take it back! Will this be fixed on the December update? I plan on putting a call into Verizon tech support later but wanted to get your thoughts. Any ideas?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI dunno if this has been mentioned elsewhere,but as of a week or 2 ago,I've noticed the "invisible shield" (for lack of a better term?) on the backside of my screen is bubbling.I don't know if this is because I pop open the screen too often (coming from a Sidekick for 6 yrs,I use the physical keyboard constantly),or if its that, combined with the incredible amount of heat I've been experiencing lately from the CPU area.Either way.anyone else having this issue?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI don't know how I did it, but on my home screen, originally I saw this:with the phone on the left, 2nd home screen to get to all the apps, and the contacts button to the right with the 5-7 screens.somehow I got it on some "Linux" mode where when I press anywhere on the screen, it will shrink to three small windows, two of which are empty and 1 of the windows only displays the following icons: Droid Market, Browser, and Maps along with a dock at the bottom. I want to go back to the way it was beforehand. Does anyone know how to fix this?

When i go to the Display options I unclick the button for 30 seconds, click 2 minutes, then exit. A little while later the screen goes off and I go back to the Display settings and it is back at 30 seconds again. View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
Anyone know of a "skin" type case, plastic or otherwise that goes on the back and will lock or prevent the keyboard from sliding open. I have no intention of using the keyboard.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Moto Droid since it basically came out last Nov and I have never ever run into a problem with the phone until last night. I had a phone call and after I got off the phone, I noticed my droid reseted itself and it wasn't going back to the home screen. Meaning it would just display the word "Droid" then go right into the droid red eye screen, then right back to the word Droid and just kept repeating itself.
I took the battery out and put it back in, but it kept doing the same thing. I am really not sure what would cause my phone to do this, but the only new change I can think of was that I installed the "TMZ" application to my droid about 3 hours prior to this happening. But the application worked fine and I really hope it wasn't because of that. Is there anything I can do before going to Verizon? I would really hate giving up my phone with all my stuff in it, but I know theres probably not much I can do if I cant even get to the home screen.
Whenever I back out of a screen mainly txt msg, I get something highlighted in orange, and when I back out into the home screen it does the same thing. Usually it highlights either the phone shortcut or the wifi icon in my power bar.

My question is how do I get the weather from when i installed weatherbug back in the notification screen. I ended some tasks and it disappeared and for the life of me I cant figure out how to get it back. I hope im not missing something that is really simple here.
So I'm new to Android OS and the Droid X. I'm on the $54.99 plan that's just data/text, so I don't pay for any minutes. So I was wondering if it's possible to change out the capacitive phone button on the main screen to something more useful for me, or would I need something a little beefier than root access, like a whole new rom?
Also, would it be possible to create a capacitive back button on the screen to replace the mechanical back button?
