Motorola Droid :: Loose Plastic Edge Along Keyboard

Nov 24, 2009

The plastic edge that runs around the lower part of the slider on my phone is a bit loose right next to where you plug the micro USB into the phone. It's very minimal, just a little bit of give that you can't actually see but if you press against it there is a slight clicking noise from the plastic edge moving slightly.

Motorola Droid :: Imperfection - Loose Battery Cover

Nov 19, 2009

First droid had an imperfection on the glass screen that caused a black spot (prolly 3-4 pixels big) on a white background in which I could not fix because it was part of the glass. Second droid had dust infiltrating on the sides leading to a distraction when viewing the screen. Now, my third droid has such a loose battery cover that it comes off in my pocket a lot. Am I too picky or do I just have bad luck? Really don't want to go to the verizon store again for a loose battery cover but I think that is a legitmate problem, and btw I have tried a different battery cover and that isn't the problem, it must be what the cover hooks onto inside the phone that is causing it to be loose.

Motorola Droid :: Gold Speaker Cover Coming Loose?

Nov 21, 2009

I was running my fingernail across the gold speaker cover strip on the back. I noticed in the middle that it pushes in quite a bit. It's like that part is not properly secured to the backplate.Could someone else attempt this for me. I want to know if it's how it was constructed, or if it's just my unit.Just run your fingernail with LIGHT pressure across the speaker cover. See if it pushes in in the middle.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Back Cover Loose

Aug 11, 2010

I just got back from having my headset speaker replaced (i think it blew) and when i got my phone back, the back cover is really loose. I pointed this out and they offered to put a new cover on. The new cover did the same thing and they said that it must have been like that when they got it in. I saw the guy struggle to take the cover off when he went to pull the battery and check water spot. Does anyone else have this problem and how do i fix it. It takes absolutely no effort what so ever to take the cover off now. The slightest bump or slide and its off.

Android : Apple Store Bars Loses Signal When Cover Bottom Left Corner Of Phone

Aug 8, 2010

It was earlier this evening in fact. I went with my friends to check out the iphone 4 for the first time. So i decided to try and see the reception problem for myself. I took out my nexus one and did a side by side comparison. However to my surprise the iphone 4 was already at 2 bars the moment i picked it up, no idea why as my nexus one (Which was on the SAME carrier btw) had more bars on it at the same time. I carried on with the test anyway. You guys can guess the result.

The bars didn't drop completely as the coverage in Singapore is much better. But that doesn't mean it had better reception than my nexus one.

But the interesting thing was the lady beside me noticed us and asked "what are you trying to prove?". So while her daughter plays with the ipad, I kindly explained to her the whole issue with the iphone 4's revolutionary antenna having a ******ed flaw by which it loses signal when you cover the bottom left corner of the phone, unlike my phone which did not suffer as much as a drop. She then proceeded to saying "But they fixed the problem if you use the bumpers right?". Thats when i explained that you should not rely on a silly bumper case to improve reception when the actual problem lies with the antenna's design itself. But again she said "but the problem is fixed with the case right?". With one of the store sales person watching us the entire time, i still carried on and said "no it doesn't solve the problem, it only prevents it from happening". So we continued playing with the phone and she asked "you all are not fans of apple are you?". Trying not to be so direct, i just said "I actually used to have an iphone, but i didn't like it so i got this instead *shows nexus one*".

Ive never done this kind of thing before, so it was kinda thrilling. Especially when you know the staff is looking at you pseudo-promoting a rival phone. After looking at the iphone 4, i really think it does look beautiful, but it will still be crippled by the limitations of the OS regardless of how you jailbreak it. When i left the store i kinda hoped i shed some light into that lady's decision on whether or not to buy an iphone 4 or any other phone (Android or non-android).

HTC Incredible :: Possible Loose Camera Lens Cover Repair

May 31, 2010

Like many other people, my camera lens cover pushed in slightly letting dust onto the lens. I didn't want to go to verizon, lose my phone for a month, and lose my data just for a tiny part so I'm taking matters into my own hands. This procedure is currently in progress and may or may not be successful. Cross your fingers for me!

1)Take off the back cover of your phone.

2)Using your fingernail, gently pry up the camera lens cover. It is only attached by a weak adhesive. When you're done, the phone looks like this with the camera lense exposed:

3)Now pop the glass lens cover and the foam piece behind it away from the red ring and scrape away the old glue that held these parts together. Sorry I don't have a picture of this.

4)Put a dab of gorilla glue on your finger and smear it on the red ring. Place the glass lens cover on the glue without smearing glue on the lens. Use the back of a regular Bic-type pen to apply pressure to hold the components together.Well, that I far as I am. At 11:00, I think the glue will be dry enough to continue and I will update my progress. At this point my biggest worry is glue smudges on the glass.

HTC EVO 4G :: How To Fix Loose At Bottom Screen / Seal Light Leak?

Aug 15, 2010

HTC now has an in store fix for the flying screen syndrome but you can do this at home. Take a credit card or similar type of item and wedge it in between the screen and the phones frame lifting the screen bottom as much as you can without causing further lifting damage. Then remove the battery door and locate the two holes in the photo with the tooth picks. Put a couple drops of crazy glue in each hole then remove the credit cards and quickly clamp the screen down for about a half hour. Clothes pins might work as make shift clamps try therm before starting. If you can get your screen up enough to put the crazy glue tip directly under the screen you can do this also but use very little glue and dot it maybe 4 times across the area for a good even hold then clamp. I would tape off the screen and phone frame just in case some leaks out by accident doing this method. Once the screen is secure use automotive black silicone adhesive sealant I like Permatex brand found at WalMart (now this stuff can also be used to glue the screen down but will take longer to dry 12 hours put it on a tooth pick and shove it under the lifted screen bottom then clamp) You can take this black silicone and dab a small amount around the screen crack and with your finger or a q tip force it in the light leak crack then simply take a tissue and wipe off any excess silicone before it sets you will have no damage to the phone from spilling it just wipe it off. You should now just have a tiny bit shoved in the crack with all the rest wiped off. let it set and you are done!

Sprint HTC Hero :: Bottom Button / Trackball Plate Little Loose

I just got my hero over the weekend and maybe I just didn't notice it until now. The bottom button/trackball plate seems to have a little looseness or play in it. If I push it left/right or up/down it moves a slight amount. It doesn't feel like it would pop off but its something I just noticed today. Or do I have to take it in to sprint for a replacement?

Motorola Droid X :: Battery Tab - Plastic Underneath

Jul 21, 2010

I had my X sent to me through the mail, which I've never done before. Always I've bought my phones in a store so the phone unboxing and set up has always been done for me. Since there was no instruction booklet I was left to my own devices. There was a little piece of plastic in the back that was marked pull or lift, so I did, thinking it was some sort of protection for the inerds while shipping. Pulled it completely off and then put the battery in. Now I think I've come to realize, that was to make pulling out the battery easier.

My question is this, is the sole purpose of that piece of plastic for pulling the battery out, or is it also protective layer between the phone and the battery? Should I get it replaced? Or am I fine leaving as is and it just being a pain to pull the battery out?

Motorola Droid :: Protective Plastic On Back Of Slider

Feb 5, 2010

So I noticed some (protective) plastic on the back of the sliding screen today. I gave it a little flick to see if it was meant to stay, but it peeled right off. Seems to be part of the plastic films put on before shipping. Can't believe I haven't seen this in over 2 months (of course I rarely slide it open).Sliding mechanism is much smoother now and certainly not loose. It has also opened up a whole new Droid Feature: It is so shiny and reflective on the back of the slider now, if you get lost in the woods and are out of cel reception, you can use the back of the slider to reflect the sun and signal the rescue plane while still playing your favorite game to pass the time Droid does Survival tool!

Motorola Droid :: Phone Tapping On Bottom And Top Left?

So despite my gut feeling I took off the film behind the screen as the other thread indicated. Now my phone slides smoother but when it is closed and using it in portrait view, the bottom and top left of the phone makes a tapping noise everytime I press there. It's really annoying specially when I'm typing something or going back and I keep hearing tap tap silent silent silent tap tap tap.As I took a closer look, it seems like the legs on the left side on the back of the screen don't quite reach the keyboard base, therefore creating a gap and tapping the keyboard base whenever i press there.Has this happened to yours too? If so, do you have the film in the back or have you taken it off?

Motorola Droid X :: Buttons At Bottom Of Phone Not Working

Jul 19, 2010

The buttons at the bottom of the phone (not the hard-press buttons, but the lower row of touch-screen buttons -- dialer, open app list, and contacts), are non-responsive.

Everything else seems to be working okay. Tried powering off/up, also tried battery pull, still the same.

I'm close to opting for "restore factory settings", but I've spent some time customizing, and that's really a last resort.

Motorola Droid :: Rubbing Alcohol / Acetone And Droid's Plastic Parts?

Dec 5, 2009

More specifically, the rubber/plastic edge that runs around the keyboard the the edge of the keyboard itself (the piece without the letters).I got a tiny bit of super glue on that rubber/plastic (I'm sure it's plastic but it feels kind of rubbery) edge. I'm debating about trying to remove it (it's almost unnoticeable, except to me, meaning I'll notice it constantly ).I know acetone will remove super glue. I've heard that rubbing alcohol can too, which is why I would try it first (it's less caustic than acetone, less chance of damaging the plastic). Is this a bad idea? Also, if rubbing alcohol works, would the alcohol that's on alcohol wipes (like the screen cleaner wipes) work as well? They're both isopropyl so I don't see why it wouldn't (the concentrations may be different, that's the only thing I can think of).

Hard to tell from pictures, and I haven't found any official data on this.I'm hoping for a nice aluminum build like the Nokia N8/Moto Devour/ Original Droid, but even if it is a hard plastic, at least it's a matte finish which is superior to the "finger print magnet" finish of its rival EVO 4G.

Motorola Droid :: Screens Have All Been Loose

Jul 6, 2010

So I have a squeaky clean account with Verizon, four lines, all smart phones minus one phone. NEVER missed a payment and always upgraded. I have had plenty of problems with my phones but never complained too much or created issued. I have been very nice with them, but I've about hit my limit here.

We have a defective Moto Droid on our account, and a defective Incredible. They have already agreed to give me an X for my Incredible. But, they have sent us not one, but now 3 refurbrished phones that are crap. The screens have ALL been loose, and the build has been absolute crap compared to the original phone. They are sending me another one from a different warehouse tomorrow. I am so irritated. If I receieve another refurb with a loose screen and bad build I don't think I am going to be able to deal with Verizon very nicely.

What do you think I should do? Should I be nice and wait for ANOTHER refurb if this one is bad? Or should I get mad and tell them they can take there refurb backs and send me a NEW phone?
