Jul 22, 2010So after rooting my phone. Couple days later i had it charging and decided to turn off my phone and before I knew it. It automatically turn itself back on? Y is that? I am using bb 0.4 p3 kernel 1.0 on blue energy theme.

Jul 22, 2010note: this is an artist rendition because my digital camera is terrible and i couldn't figure out how to get the dust in the shot. but it looks just like this. it's a black speck under the screen that can only be seen on bright surfaces and only if you are looking at the screen head on. i'm not sure if it might be a dead pixel. i can certainly live with this problem although i'd prefer if it wasn't there.
1. is this a dead pixel or dust?
2. how do i fix this, can i just exchange it at the vzw store whenever they stop being sold out?

I have to send my dead phone back once I get the new one, and am concerned about the fact that it's rooted running Froyo. I'd like to restore the nandroid backup I made of stock 2.1. Can somebody give me advice on how to do this with a dead screen? Perhaps from the command line on my computer via USB, or perhaps the key strokes to do it in nandroid so I can replicate it by feel?

Mar 28, 2010From a black screen, sitting on my desk, or bed...the screen would magically turn on. And not always to the lock screen. Sometimes would just turn on and be unlocked (I don't have it password locked, so it would open to the desk top without having to swipe) And if left alone, it will go to dark after 1 minute. It has cycled through this on/off 3 or 4 times, all without me touching the phone at all.If I power it down, it appears to solve this until.I don't know what, but eventually it will go through this routine again.

Apr 13, 2010For the record, I am not rooted. I installed the OTA 2.1 update last week.Before the 2.1 update, I never saw this. But recently, my screen will turn on (it will display the 'lock' screen) all by itself. It's draining the hell out of my battery; I'm down to 80% after 2 hours, just due to the screen turning on while it's in my holster. Not cool at all.I've noticed this only happens at certain times at work. It hasn't happened to me at home yet, and I don't notice it while It's just sitting on my desk at work. I mainly notice it when I take it out before or after I take a break (leaving my desk to go out for a smoke, or whatever). So here's what I think it is.On my work laptop (Ubuntu 9.10), I'm running BlueProximity, which probes a paired Bluetooth device (my Droid, in this case) and locks my laptop if it's not within a certain range. It *seems* (not 100% sure) that when I leave and re-enter the maximum range of my laptop's BT receiver i.e., breaking and then re-establishing the connection -- that the Droid's screen turns on.Again, I'm pretty sure it's the 2.1 update that caused this to start happening. It only started happening within the last week. I suppose it could be an app, but that seems unlikely. Has anyone else seen a problem like this? Anyone have any ideas for resolving? Is there any info I can provide that would be helpful in pinning down the problem?

Dec 15, 2009This is weird and took me a while to pinpoint exactly when this happens. When I am done using my phone I usually hit the home button to get to my home screen, regardless of what app or what screen I'm on. Then I press the power button at the top top turn off the screen. Almost everyday with what I thought was no clear pattern, my phone would reboot just after setting it down when I was done using it. I found that when pressing power too quickly after pressing home when the app hasn't fully gone away yet causes the phone to reboot. I have been able to consistently do this today from the gallery, not just at a specific picture but when viewing the list of my phone pictures. Over half a dozen times just now, every time, home then power and it reboots. I uninstalled OpenHome thinking it was related to the custom home app, but even with the default home it is still happening.Gallery is not the main problem, it has happened from other apps, but that one I have been able to most consistenly reproduce it because it takes longer for that to close before getting to the home screen (I only have 52 pictures, so I can't imagine that is the reason). I am about to go to a verizon store and see if I can reproduce it on the phones on display.

Nov 22, 2009Just a neat trick, but not sure how useful it really is.If you want to lock the screen without turning the phone backlight off, you can do so by placing a finger on any of the four "touch-sensitive" buttons and pressing the power key.The screen will stay on, but the device will lock.It's up to you to find a practical purpose for doing so.I just though I'd share the feature (bug?) with you all.

Aug 16, 2010Has anyone noticed that if you uncheck the box to enable the lock screen that the Droid X's screen will turn on for incoming text messages? It's rather annoying as I would rather not use a lock screen but don't want the screen turning on for every new text either. Screen stays off fine if the lock screen is enabled. This is my first Android phone so not sure if this is how Android behaves or if it's a Droid X issue.

Nov 19, 2009When I'm on the phone and talk for over 15 mins or so my screen won't come back on.It goes off when I put it against my head like it is supposed to and comes back on when I pull it away like it should. But after 15 mins or so it goes off and wont come back on when I pull it away. So I can't end my call and when it's time to end the call of course I can't, nor can I get a call waiting. I had my phone's display set to time out after 10 mins then changed that to never time out but it still does this. However this setting shouldn't matter I wouldn't think, but it doesn't help either way. I'm having to do a battery pull to get my screen back,I have no other issues other than this. I hope I don't have to take it back! Will this be fixed on the December update? I plan on putting a call into Verizon tech support later but wanted to get your thoughts. Any ideas?

Jul 16, 2010I don't know how I did it, but on my home screen, originally I saw this:with the phone on the left, 2nd home screen to get to all the apps, and the contacts button to the right with the 5-7 screens.somehow I got it on some "Linux" mode where when I press anywhere on the screen, it will shrink to three small windows, two of which are empty and 1 of the windows only displays the following icons: Droid Market, Browser, and Maps along with a dock at the bottom. I want to go back to the way it was beforehand. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Jul 15, 2010This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
Motorola Droid :: Phone Reset After Call / Not Going Back To Home Screen
Jul 8, 2010I've had my Moto Droid since it basically came out last Nov and I have never ever run into a problem with the phone until last night. I had a phone call and after I got off the phone, I noticed my droid reseted itself and it wasn't going back to the home screen. Meaning it would just display the word "Droid" then go right into the droid red eye screen, then right back to the word Droid and just kept repeating itself.
I took the battery out and put it back in, but it kept doing the same thing. I am really not sure what would cause my phone to do this, but the only new change I can think of was that I installed the "TMZ" application to my droid about 3 hours prior to this happening. But the application worked fine and I really hope it wasn't because of that. Is there anything I can do before going to Verizon? I would really hate giving up my phone with all my stuff in it, but I know theres probably not much I can do if I cant even get to the home screen.
