My screen keeps coming on while the phone is locked then it will go off and come back on like 2-5 sec later just an endless cycle. This is a factory 2.2 droid x with 2.2. Have launcher pro and some stuff on it did a virus scan with AVG said it was clean what gives here?

I trying to help a friend with her email on her droid she currently has a (smtp) email set up on her phone. The problem is all old emails are continuously coming back to the device! she has deleted them both from the phone also from a regular pc and they come back still....I looked into the app called (k9) however it doesn't look like it supports smtp only Imap and pop3.

since installing petes bugless beast, the only problem im having is that the phone will ring, but the screen stays blank, or locked. anyone else having this issue? i cant tell who is calling.

What is happening is I keep getting the emails over and over no matter how many times I delete them. I dont understand what I am doing wrong. It works but I delete the emails and they come again and again. I had to delete the account to stop the endless loop.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy DroidX has several pieces of bloatware from Verizon or Motorola. I don't mind giving up a little Ram space for them, but many are running all of the time. After you kill them they come back to life. Why does Music, Maps, SkypeMobile, CityId etc. need to run when I haven't even started them? I "assume" that they are just waiting until the end of a time period (an hour I hope rather than a second) to check if the need to "call home". If they are doing much they are eating battery time which isn't as good as I would like. I realize that I would have to root my Droid to remove the apps. Is there an easier ways to keep them from running?
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently my Desire has started doing something odd.I put it in standby mode (i.e locked screen,screen dark etc - by pressing the power button once) and around 50% of the time when I press the power button once again to wake it up,the four buttons at below the screen light up,but the screen takes up to 5-10 seconds to come on!Has anyone else ever had this sort of thing happen?It's really intermittent and slightly concerning.

1) How do you get the locked screen to show for more than 5 seconds?
2) Where is the clock that is on the box?
3) Is there a way to be able to use the "droid" theme that is shown when you power the phone up?
I've had my Moto Droid since it basically came out last Nov and I have never ever run into a problem with the phone until last night. I had a phone call and after I got off the phone, I noticed my droid reseted itself and it wasn't going back to the home screen. Meaning it would just display the word "Droid" then go right into the droid red eye screen, then right back to the word Droid and just kept repeating itself.
I took the battery out and put it back in, but it kept doing the same thing. I am really not sure what would cause my phone to do this, but the only new change I can think of was that I installed the "TMZ" application to my droid about 3 hours prior to this happening. But the application worked fine and I really hope it wasn't because of that. Is there anything I can do before going to Verizon? I would really hate giving up my phone with all my stuff in it, but I know theres probably not much I can do if I cant even get to the home screen.
First off let me say that I was wrong about this issue. Its not an issue with Easy root it is just something built into android. So I apologize to anyone I argued this subject with but specifically Patch. Its also not an issue with rom manager. This applys to users that after flashing a custom recovery they can boot into it once but the next time you try to boot into recovery it has reverted to stock.
This mostly happens to users of easy root or users that use my guide for rooting using Linux
So for the fix.
Download this file and place it in the root of your sd card.

Download Terminal Emulator from the market. The one by the dev Jack Palevich.
Open it and type the following commands.
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
dd if=/sdcard/install-recovery.sh of=/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
chmod 550 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
sync
after that just flash the custom recovery of your choice and you should be good to go.
I tested this on my phone and another user tested it for me and it worked for both of us. If anyone has an issue let me know. This issue is so sporadic that its hard to have people test the fix.
I listen to Slacker Radio a lot and I noticed that even though my screen will be locked, the volume rocker on the side of the phone will still be active to change the volume for the music. I'm kinda on the fence about whether I like this or not (sometimes it's annoying to unlock the screen just to change the volume by a notch or two, but I also don't want to change the volume by accident when it's in my pocket), but either way, is it supposed to be like this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just flashed UD v8 last night and got into the LED hack and adjusted my settings so that when I dock it all LEDs turn off. Cool and the gang. Except now when I get an email or text message I don't get the blue or green flashing LED in the top right like normal. I actually love this cuz I can tell if I have an email/sms without powering up out of sleep mode. Granted, that isn't that big a deal, but I like my damn LED.
Anyone experiencing this or have any ideas on a fix?
I am running lithium mod rom. I ran fix permissions in RM and rebooted the phone. Now when it pulls up the screen to enter my PIN the PIN I had set no longer works. I have tried several battery pulls trying to get into recovery with no luck.

I saw a thread where someone belived it happened at the Verizon Store when they synced the phone for the end user. After getting home, I noticed he'd also downloaded all the accumulated contacts 9 mostly crap) from my Google Mail account as well. I went and deleted them all but now I keep getting a notification saying that I deleted TOO MANY? It then gives me three choices, one of which is delete them. The notification keeps coming back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I had my Voyager, I could use my bluetooth earpiece to talk on the phone, and also get the audio from the Navigation to come through the earpiece. I was surprised tonight that when I was using my GPS on the Droid it didn't come through my earpiece which resulted in me turning my radio down significantly so I could hear the phone.
I also have a stereo bluetooth headphones that I already paired and see the icon on the screen, but when I play a video or some music, it doesn't come through the headphones. Its still coming out of the Droid's phone speakers. Its showing that it is connected in my notifications bar too.
When the phone is locked, but the screen is on, if you hold down the search button for a couple of seconds and then say something, the voice search will run. when you unlock the phone, you will see the results. when the screen is off however, it doesn't work. it only happens with the screen on and the phone locked. i thought that none of the buttons should work when the phone is locked?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was curious why at home when I'm connect all the time with wireless that the wireless status would not display immediately when I unlock my phone.
So today I left my wireless settings page up. Then let the phone lock and sit idle. When I opened it sure enough the wireless had diconnected and as soon as it was unlocked began obtaining an IP from my network.
THIS IS NOT THE BEHAVIOR I'M LOOKING FOR!!
I like to have various apps running while at home and I want them to go through my home wireless not 3G.
This seems like something Verizon would probably prefer as well.
