Motorola Droid :: Contact List - Identifying Incoming Phone Calls
Nov 11, 2009So I have something like 470 people in my Google Contacts under "All Contacts" and only about 60 under "My Contacts." I like it that way, because then my Droid contact list isn't full to the brim with people whose numbers I really don't need at the touch of my fingertips. That being said, however, it would be very cool if somehow the "All Contacts" section of my Google Contacts could be used to identify incoming phone calls.
For instance:
I want my Brother's phone number in My Contacts so I can call him.
I don't want my ex girlfriend's Stacey's number in My Contacts because I don't need to call her.
I still have my ex-girlfiend's contact info under "All Contacts" because there's no reason to delete it outright.
I would, however, like for my Droid's caller ID to tell me that the person calling me is "Stacey" instead of "unknown caller."
Am I asking too much? I know I could just add everyone to "My Contacts" and that would work, I just don't necessarily want 500 people in my Droid phone book. It's unnecessary. Or even apps that do this?

HTC Droid Eris :: Unable To Send / Receive Texts Or Calls
Aug 15, 2010Even after numerous factory resets, through both the Volume Down+Send+End and Settings>Privacy>Factory Reset methods, my Eris has been unable to send or receive texts, and will not allow me to send or receive calls. When I try to text, I get an SMS error with Cause Code: 34 and Error Class: 3. When I try to call, I get an automated error saying that my phone can't be authenticated at this time, and am advised to call #8899. Even after doing so, I get the same authentication error. Wi-Fi seems to work correctly, and my Google and Facebook accounts all sync pretty much perfectly. Is anyone else having any kind of problem like this? And, either way, does anyone know of any possible alternatives that may fix the problem besides a total replacement of the phone?

Motorola Droid :: Phone Never Vibrates For Calls Texts
Dec 7, 2009My Droid never vibrates, ever. No matter if it is set to vibrate only, silent, or max sound. It doesn't vibrate for calls, texts or for anything. I set vibrate on for both, calls and texts - and it never vibrates. I temporarily installed other apps to see if the phone is physically able to vibrate, and it is. I am not sure if I am missing an option, or if there is a software malfunction.

May 20, 2012There's actually a phone made by Fujitsu that's similar in that it can be booted into the full desktop windows 7 32 bit by the switch of a button. The downside I see to it is that when you are running it the phones radio is turned off so you can't receive calls or texts also the phone UI is some proprietary Fujitsu software. Needless to say it looks pretty lame compared to Android but nevertheless it's still pretty awesome looking. Here's a few links: URLs....

Aug 21, 2010I?ve had my HTC desire for about 3 weeks until now not had any problems, but now i can?t seem to make or receive calls or text. When I try to ring someone it just beeps and ends the call. When someone rings me it says unavailable. Nor can i send or receive texts. I?ve spoken to my network operator and everything is fine on their end and also got a new sim card from them just in case it was a sim card fault. Anyone know what the problem could be?

May 11, 2010I rooted my phone successfully last night and installed MoDaCo.
Everything worked OK. Today I tried Cyanogen and it seemed to work OK. I've tried to install a couple of themes. One worked and one didn't.
I don't know when, but my phone will now not send or receive texts or calls. I still have a 3G data connection (back to MoDaCo) and the internet and Market work fine.
I really don't know what to do. The recovery image "recovery-ra-nexus..." seems to have disappeared from the bootloader. The phone isn't bricked so I guess that there is a way out of this?
SO I've restored my first Nand Backup which is the recovery image ra-nexus-v1.7.0.
It quoted restore complete. I backed up and rebooted. Weird thing is it boots up into Cyanogen ROM!!! And now I have no service, NOTHING!

Oct 27, 2010Just got my refurbished Captivate in the mail today, charged and activated it as per the instructions. It worked just fine for about 30 minutes or so. I put on a few apps and showed them off to my roommate, and things were going fine. Then all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive phone calls, nor was I able to get/send text messages. With no pattern or logic I would go from 3g to edge to neither of the two symbols (just full signal strength) to the international no sign where my full bars just were. If I typed and tried to send a text while the no sign was visible it would send and receive texts as soon as I got signal back, but that would only last a few minutes.
I've tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone to factory settings, all to no avail, as well as checking my message center number. I've looked around in the forums and can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem, and I was hoping someone would have some advice or could point me to a thread that I may have missed. I'd talk to AT&T but chat hours are over and I have to be up early for work tomorrow and need my phone for that, so I'm not sure I can ask customer service tomorrow beforehand.
General :: Can't Send Or Receive Texts Or Make Calls Intermittently?
Feb 1, 2012Got a problem with my new Samsung galaxy S2 that's stumping.Several times a day, for several minutes at a time, I'm unable or send or revive text messages. During this ~5 min window I am also unable to make or receive calls. Outgoing texts will time out and outgoing call just stay at "dialing" and then time out. The issue resolves itself after a few minutes.
NOTES:
• This started when I switched to an iPhone on Sprint from my Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint. Thinking it was the iPhone issue, I switched to a Galaxy SII... which does the exact same thing.
• I have signal bars the whole time
• my girlfriend, who shares the cell plan and my house never has this issue (she has an Evolution 4g)
• tried updating the PRL, profile and even had Sprint reset my MSID#.
• happened on stock EK02 ROM, and rooted EL29 roms.
Motorola Droid X :: Not Able To Receive Texts?
Sep 12, 2010I have not been able to receive texts since last night. What happens is I will get nothing for hours, then I reboot, and will get like 8 at once. I don't want to take it to vzw, because they will just reset it and i want to only use that as a last ditch effort. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Jul 20, 2010Came over to the X from a Storm 2, the verizon rep brought over my blackberry contacts to the X.The problem is, when i go to phone, these numbers show up, but if i go in thru contacts it only shows contacts i have setup since i purchased the phone.I did a search and could not find this exact problem, any other former BB users have this problem?

Nov 12, 2009I just installed Handcent on my Droid and am having two problems. I checked the settings and can't figure out why these things aren't working properly.
1. The pictures from my contact list do not show up next to the texts. Every one of my contacts has a silhouette and question mark in place of the picture - which shows up fine in the default messaging app.
2. When a new text comes in, the new text notification pops up on the taskbar. I do not receive a handcent notification icon, and if I open the text with Handcent, the default message notification does not disappear.

Nov 16, 2009This is the only phone that it's ever happened to. Since I got the Droid, I've been missing calls. Not like I have missed calls. The only calls that are okay are the ones that I make. Everyone is telling me that when they call me it rings about 3 times and then just hangs up. Like I ignored it but didn't go to vmail. However, none of these calls are going through at ALL so I'm not ignoring the calls.
Also, everyone is texting me saying that I never texted them back when I know I did.

Sep 12, 2010I am still in the process of learning and customizing this phone so there may be a famous app that takes care of this but I did a search and found nothing. I am not a big fan of how the contact list shows friends from facebook/gmail/Phone. I only want it to show contacts that I have personally added on my phone. Is there a way I can arrange this. I have it to where it remembers phone contacts only when I hit contacts but as soon as restart, it goes right back to all contacts. It also comes up when I try to text someone or in the contact section of the dialer. I just dont like this. I don't mind that they are there, persay, but I don't want it to be default all the time. Is there a way to change this?
