Anyone else having an issue with their dx lagging to the point to where the phone actually freezes and a battery pull is necessary to undo the problem?
I'm running rooted dx with stock 2.2 with flyx final ROM with black glass theme
if there are others having this issue let me know what you did to correct it, or if its just one of those days

Just got my Epic 2 days ago and I'm noticing a huge issue and I'm not really finding any help by googling it.
The issue:
Pretty much any time I use an app that accesses the SD card there's a 50/50 chance it lags out my phone and/or freezes it completely prompting me to have to pull the battery. Sometimes it does it while I'm not even using it, I pick it up and it's frozen. I can only assume that an app ran in the background to access the SD card.
Apps that have caused this:
media hub (downloading a tv show)
amazon mp3 (downloading a song)
asphalt 5 demo (downloading content)
mounted to computer (transferring a movie) -and-
random times when using or not using the phone. The most common denominator though is adding files/content to the sd card. Any help?
I have been flashing roms a long time, since the days of sholesmod. Things have gotten easier, developers add great tools to roms to make switching over even easier, but there is one thing no matter what rom i run that i notice. Typically after 2-3 days after rom and kernal settles in, no matter what rom( I have tried almost all) i get so many redraws and home screen lag that i am starting to get tired of having a slow phone. I know your going to ask how much memory i have left on the internal(normally roughly at least 90 mb), Did i wipe boot/system/ data/cache/ yes before every rom install religiously. Am i over clocked? yes normally run in the 1200s, my droid is a beast at accepting every kernal/rom i throw at it. Lately i have been running lfy 1.7 and UD 2.0 in the last month and they start off so fast and impressive and then just get so lagged after a few days. I typically use launcher pro, although i have used adw alot, some roms work better with one or the other. I always use titanium backup, i always let the new rom install its own system apps and never use backups from other roms.I can deal with some lag at times but my biggest thing is app draw re-draw and when i have more than say 5 widgets running it gets so bad. a big culprit seems to be beautiful widgets, yes its pretty much my favorite of all. I am looking for any good advice from all the amazing helpers in these forums. My current set up is UD2.0(first time with UD) i still am running the stock kernal but looking for best advice on working (non-boot-looping) kernals to try that have ulv and interactive governors.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSeems to be getting more frequent. At first it was just freezing and would sometimes return to a usable state while I was listening to music. In the past couple of days it has begun freezing completely when using gtalk or other messaging applications when I would go to enter text. Voice to Text hangs and then force close, but everything else freezes up. I hold down the power button and feel the vibration when the screen to choose what option comes up, but nothing on the screen changes. A minute later, it reboots. I haven't had to do a battery pull yet.
Droid is rooted and I have removed maybe 3 apps... I can't pinpoint an installation of something that maybe caused this to start. Anyone with similar issues? Any fix? Should I just try and swap it out? I have the newest update...
Anybody having a freezing issue with the Google search widget freezing? When i try a search it lets my type in a few letters, then it just freezes.I'm using OTA 2.2
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently when I use the stock/default music player, when I try to pause or stop it, it keeps playing. If I press the hard home key, it will go to the home screen but the music will keep playing even if I press pause. If I am still in the music player app and press the back button, it goes to a black screen and keeps playing. Today I tried to shut down my phone to get it to stop and it kept playing for a couple minutes and took much longer than usual for the phone to shut down.
Do I just have to use a different music player? Is the default one really buggy or something? Not sure if it has anything to do with it but I only noticed it after I updated to 2.2.
I was wondering if there is a fix to this problem. when someone calls me, they say the phone rings like 5 times before it even rings once or the notification light comes on. I tell them i heard one ring but the caller says 5.is there a fix to this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'll start by saying I have been reading these forums for quite awhile. The information on here was what swayed me toward purchasing my DX, and I thank you for that as the phone has been great.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced pretty severe lagging with the stock media player as it has been happening to me quite often lately.
I will be listening to an album and not using the phone otherwise, then I will try to switch to another application and everything will freeze. The music will stop, occasionally a black screen appears and no buttons work.
The result is usually a battery pull.... This has happened to me twice already today, so I wanted to see if others have experienced the same thing with the media player, and if it is the media player that's the culprit, perhaps recommend an alternative.
I got my Droid X yesterday and for the most part I'm impressed. (I didn't realize how much I liked HTC's Sense UI until replaced my Incredible with this phone.)
So far my only frustration is the touch screen. When I'm swiping between home screens, or even in applications, it often doesn't register anything or it'll open the first icon I touch even though I'm swiping. Sometimes I have to press an icon a couple times before it'll open up as well. This is getting REALLY frustrating because I can't just do things quickly but I have to watch to see if what I selected actual opens or swipes, etc.
I've only installed a few applications, including LauncherPro. Is anybody else having any issues like this?
My Droid Eris is lagging terribly and I'm fairly certain its due largely to the number of texts i have saved in my phone. After going through the site for what seemed endlessly and trying for 2 days to erase the mass threads I've decided to do a hard reset. My contacts and calendar are backed up on gmail so I'm not worried about losing any of that but are the photos/video saved to the SD card or will they be erased?

Had a couple issues that wouldn't have got through without him, and he also explained a lot of the terminology for me! Now pulling high 1500 quadrant scores. View 21 Replies View RelatedI am running Nexbeast 1.1 fabs release clocked at 1.25ghz and I've dropped my phone maybe 4-5 times. None of them were big falls but the 3rd or 4th time I dropped it and all the times after that it has turned off. Anyways, whenever I do something for an extended period of time on my phone It freezes up. Seriously even if I'm only on it for 10 minutes. I can't do much without having this problem at least 1-2 times a day. Is their any fix to this? I don't recall it doing this on 2.1 builds. Could that be it?

i installed launcher pro, rebooted phone and it appears to be frozen on the skateboard screen (never happened in the past) what can i do?
My Droid keeps freezing then automatically closes applications... especially when I'm doing something online. And if it doesn't end up closing out then there's a bad delay. I just got it and i dont have many apps. Any ideas as to why or what I can do to fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI saw a thread where a user removed several apps after rooting the droid x and then successfully did a factory reset. I proceeded to remove the same apps using Titanium Backup. Before doing so, I saved the whole system/apps folder to the sd card in case i wanted to reinstall any later. I figured the reason these apps were installed in the system folder is so users couldn't touch them (assuming they weren't rooted). So just as a test, I tried reinstalling CityID using Root Explorer, and it installed it in the data/app folder (which uses the 8GB of internal memory). 1.) Can we effectively uninstall all the apps from the system folder and then reinstall them manually onto the 8GB of internal memory using root explorer, so we are no longer using our RAM space? 2.) Anyone feel brave enough to try doing this with a factory reset to see what happens? 3.) Another question I've seen asked and not answered is whether 'freezing' an application with Titanium will cause any harm with a factory reset (for something with a known issue like Backup Assistant), or would the app be re-enabled since the factory reset would blow away Titanium?

View 17 Replies View RelatedSince we got the phones mine has been fine and my wife has had nothing but trouble. Her phone reboots all the time and freezes. We finally went to the Sprint store Friday and they determined hers was bad and sent her a new(refurb). We received it last night. We activate the new one and this one is worse. She has had it reboot 3 times today alone. It also keeps freezing on her.
Another strange issue the new phone is having is when she clicks on an email in the Gmail app the screen flashes like it is going to open the email and it just goes right back to the inbox.
Did she get 2 bad phones ? Now we have to go back to the Sprint store again. She also only receives one out of every three of my text messages.
I have baked snack and htc sense keeps freezing it says force close htc sense and i do that but then it starts loading and it says force close or wait. how do i fix it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedEver since the 2.2 update, or downgrade as I now call it, my phone has been freezing nonstop. I have no clue what's going on. I have very few apps. The only reason I got this phone was because I'd thought it would be better than my old Samsung Instinct, which also constantly experienced freezes.
Here's an in depth look:
Press top button, slide down to unlock but no response.
Home screen, will not respond to touch.
Placing a call to someone, and before they answer, another call will come in completely freezing my phone, hard reset required.
The only reason I switched from the instinct is because I was sick of the freezes. And this phone hadn't done it before the update. Now, since my 30 day return is over, and the update came after the 30 grace period, I'm stuck with this POS phone.
Do you guys have any clue about this?
If not, looks like I'm switching from sprint after my 12 year run with them.
I have now been using the samsung galaxy for a week now and there is only one factor that is letting down the phone for me and thats the lagging. I have no complaints about the camera even though its without the flash, the internet speed is top notch and the innovative swype makes life so much easier. However what irritates me is the time it takes to access an app or returning to the home page. It must take 30 seconds or more before the screen is loaded which is annoying when you want to do something in a hurry. This also occurs when someone is ringing me and I'm trying to answer, the phone freezes for 10 seconds. I,ve only downloaded around 10 apps so surely that cannot be the problem. I've got a week left before I have to come to a decision whether or not to keep the phone or return it back to vodafone and would like some advice or reassurance about this problem. Also out of interest I would like to know if anyone has encountered the same problem on the iphone 4. The one area in which the galaxy beats the iphone 4 is the price considering what you get with both however it may be worth it to use a phone that dosent lag.

View 4 Replies View RelatedToday my phone has been randomly freezing up, once in dolphin browser, and once in a game called drop.each time the phone screen freezes, and i cant do anything and none of the buttons work. i turn off the display by hitting the top button, then it wont come back on ever, so had to take out battery and restart phone.any idea whats causing this? i've had the phone since june 4th, and today is the first time this happened and its happened twice.
