Motorola Droid X :: DX Lagging / Phone Actually Freezing?
Sep 20, 2010Anyone else having an issue with their dx lagging to the point to where the phone actually freezes and a battery pull is necessary to undo the problem?
I'm running rooted dx with stock 2.2 with flyx final ROM with black glass theme
if there are others having this issue let me know what you did to correct it, or if its just one of those days
Motorola Droid X :: Phone Freezing / Rebooting Randomly - Fix It?
Jul 31, 2010Seems to be getting more frequent. At first it was just freezing and would sometimes return to a usable state while I was listening to music. In the past couple of days it has begun freezing completely when using gtalk or other messaging applications when I would go to enter text. Voice to Text hangs and then force close, but everything else freezes up. I hold down the power button and feel the vibration when the screen to choose what option comes up, but nothing on the screen changes. A minute later, it reboots. I haven't had to do a battery pull yet.
Droid is rooted and I have removed maybe 3 apps... I can't pinpoint an installation of something that maybe caused this to start. Anyone with similar issues? Any fix? Should I just try and swap it out? I have the newest update...

Sep 24, 2010Recently when I use the stock/default music player, when I try to pause or stop it, it keeps playing. If I press the hard home key, it will go to the home screen but the music will keep playing even if I press pause. If I am still in the music player app and press the back button, it goes to a black screen and keeps playing. Today I tried to shut down my phone to get it to stop and it kept playing for a couple minutes and took much longer than usual for the phone to shut down.
Do I just have to use a different music player? Is the default one really buggy or something? Not sure if it has anything to do with it but I only noticed it after I updated to 2.2.

Dec 4, 2009I had my first reboot today...which isnt a bad thing i guess but my droid has been freezing a lot too. It asks whether or not i want to force close...I say "wait" then everything is fine. This is my first smartphone. Is this normal or should i think about an exchange.

Aug 21, 2010This dude helped me root and then install 2.2 all through PM! Had a couple issues that wouldn't have got through without him, and he also explained a lot of the terminology for me! Now pulling high 1500 quadrant scores. Time to get to freezing apps, and all the other rootie goodness!

Jun 23, 2010I am running Nexbeast 1.1 fabs release clocked at 1.25ghz and I've dropped my phone maybe 4-5 times. None of them were big falls but the 3rd or 4th time I dropped it and all the times after that it has turned off. Anyways, whenever I do something for an extended period of time on my phone It freezes up. Seriously even if I'm only on it for 10 minutes. I can't do much without having this problem at least 1-2 times a day. Is their any fix to this? I don't recall it doing this on 2.1 builds. Could that be it?

Oct 12, 2010I am having a constant issue with my DX freezing when I use it, VZW has replaced my battery, done a hard reset, so I guess the next step is a new phone. It was fine until the update and now it freezes when I do only what it is supposed to.

May 19, 2010My Droid keeps freezing then automatically closes applications... especially when I'm doing something online. And if it doesn't end up closing out then there's a bad delay. I just got it and i dont have many apps. Any ideas as to why or what I can do to fix it?

Jul 23, 2010I saw a thread where a user removed several apps after rooting the droid x and then successfully did a factory reset. I proceeded to remove the same apps using Titanium Backup. Before doing so, I saved the whole system/apps folder to the sd card in case i wanted to reinstall any later. I figured the reason these apps were installed in the system folder is so users couldn't touch them (assuming they weren't rooted). So just as a test, I tried reinstalling CityID using Root Explorer, and it installed it in the data/app folder (which uses the 8GB of internal memory). 1.) Can we effectively uninstall all the apps from the system folder and then reinstall them manually onto the 8GB of internal memory using root explorer, so we are no longer using our RAM space? 2.) Anyone feel brave enough to try doing this with a factory reset to see what happens? 3.) Another question I've seen asked and not answered is whether 'freezing' an application with Titanium will cause any harm with a factory reset (for something with a known issue like Backup Assistant), or would the app be re-enabled since the factory reset would blow away Titanium?

Mar 8, 2010I just discovered this issue - it may be only relevant to 2.1 since I upgraded (or to something else entirely) but when my Eris is plugged in and I use it the Home Screen seems to act crazy - well not that crazy - just that with motion the Homes Screens roll "left( that is to the left most screen) almost like I am using the track ball (but only in one direction) - unplug it and it works fine - its not a major issue but a wierd one - anyone else notice this behavior.

Aug 31, 2010Since we got the phones mine has been fine and my wife has had nothing but trouble. Her phone reboots all the time and freezes. We finally went to the Sprint store Friday and they determined hers was bad and sent her a new(refurb). We received it last night. We activate the new one and this one is worse. She has had it reboot 3 times today alone. It also keeps freezing on her.
Another strange issue the new phone is having is when she clicks on an email in the Gmail app the screen flashes like it is going to open the email and it just goes right back to the inbox.
Did she get 2 bad phones ? Now we have to go back to the Sprint store again. She also only receives one out of every three of my text messages.

Aug 21, 2010Ever since the 2.2 update, or downgrade as I now call it, my phone has been freezing nonstop. I have no clue what's going on. I have very few apps. The only reason I got this phone was because I'd thought it would be better than my old Samsung Instinct, which also constantly experienced freezes.
Here's an in depth look:
Press top button, slide down to unlock but no response.
Home screen, will not respond to touch.
Placing a call to someone, and before they answer, another call will come in completely freezing my phone, hard reset required.
The only reason I switched from the instinct is because I was sick of the freezes. And this phone hadn't done it before the update. Now, since my 30 day return is over, and the update came after the 30 grace period, I'm stuck with this POS phone.
Do you guys have any clue about this?
If not, looks like I'm switching from sprint after my 12 year run with them.

Sep 13, 2012I have a LG Optimus G2X (p999), running CM7.
The phone got waterlogged being in a backpack during a thunderstorm. The common "overnight-in-rice" remedy worked to dry the phone. On power up everything seemed fine except for one thing, the notification that says "Safe to remove SD Card". Upon further inspection it seems to be irrelevant to the real problem, as the sd card is still readable and writable by the phone.
The phone "freezes" after allowing the phone to sleep (locking not necessary for the problem to occur). After the screen goes off for more than a few seconds, then next wake action will turn on the screen but the system will not respond. Only hitting the power button seems turn off the screen. From that point onward, no key is responsive (screen will stay off). The cause seems to be caused by the following logcat message

waitForCondition(LockCondition) timed out (identity=67, status=0). CPU may be pegged. trying again.
This warning is spammed from the point of "freezing" untill I pull the battery. Also the following message seems to be an indicator as to why the phone won't wake again.

The problem is difficult to debug because I cannot debug it, literally. The problem only occurs while on battery power. Connecting the cable to a usb port stopping this problem from occuring.

-Airplane mode (to eliminate any communcation device as being the problem)
-Loaded an entirely different rom (Paranoid Android CM9 Based)

Nov 8, 2010So my Vibrant has been freezing on me and then consequently restarting to the state right after the Galaxy S boot screen, where it shows no signal and searching for media on the SD, etc.
Today it did some really really weird stuff!
I was using Google nav and then all of a sudden the screen froze, but it didn't reset or anything. The screen it froze was not good looking either, it looks like it's faded with scan lines.
I attached a picture, sorry for the low quality, but only had a friend's Pre to document it before I had to do a battery pull. But you can see the scan lines on the screen faintly.

I have only installed 1 app: System Panel Light.
I have not seen my CPU Clock go below 500Mhz or so. just sitting here watching it it goes from 500 to 800 ish. this was happening both before and after my reset
anyone else notice this? this must be causing huge battery drain/slow charging
HTC Droid Eris :: Freezing Up In The Cold
Dec 6, 2009I've been out side smoking and playing on my eris and I notice it really starts to lag in the cold. I live in Minnesota and winter here is pretty cold. I'm just wondering if any one else has experienced this?
