My Droid keeps freezing then automatically closes applications... especially when I'm doing something online. And if it doesn't end up closing out then there's a bad delay. I just got it and i dont have many apps. Any ideas as to why or what I can do to fix it?

This dude helped me root and then install 2.2 all through PM! Had a couple issues that wouldn't have got through without him, and he also explained a lot of the terminology for me! Now pulling high 1500 quadrant scores. Time to get to freezing apps, and all the other rootie goodness!
View 21 Replies View RelatedI got the droid about a month or two ago and to date I love it. The ability to customize it and the applications available are amazing. My issue though is the force closures on several applications, the ones I've had issues with are handcent, homerun battle3d, visual voicemail and helix launcher. I may have left one or two out but those are the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I emailed the developer of handcent and they were very fast in responding to my email and we spoke over google talk today at length.
We were unable to figure out the problem for sure but after I did a factory reset, handcent now works again because I love this sms app! I'm not sure about homerun battle and helix cause I no longer use either, but the factory reset fixed visual voicemail as well. After doing the f.r and handcent working again, spoke to the developer again and was asked if I had any other sms apps on my phone. Now I did have chompsms on there at one point and I was advised that this is a possible reason for the f.c issues with handcent. If this is true I would like to ask you guys who are more tech savvy than I if I'm installing certain programs on my phone that are causing the force closes.
I have noticed that many of my applications seem to automatically close making the phone seem "slower" when I try to reopen recently opened applications. The main applications that I have noticed closing are Handcent and the home screen (extremely annoying when the home screen needs to reload randomly). I have Advanced Task Manager (put the items i dont want closed on exclude) and noticed that when i click refresh some of the items sometimes disappear. I've tried turning off Advanced Task Manager and still have the some issue...Here are some things to know about my droid:
Rooted, Running Bugless Beast v1.0 -
Running at up to 1ghz (tried lowering and didn't make a difference)
Using Helix Launcher 2 (tried switched to default home screen and also no difference)
I download and installed Koush's Froyo Rom in ROM Manager. After I logged into my google account, and everything synced down, I got a message in the notification bar saying "35 applications restored"? My applications didn't get restored when I went from DroidMod 1.0, wiped everything, and then went to CyanogenMod 5.0.7.1 with a full wipe of 2.1. Is this a new feature of 2.2?

View 2 Replies View RelatedBeing new to the Android, I was wondering if there is a program out there that will close your application permanently once you're finished with it? I know Task Killer is out there, and use it quite frequently, but I'm noticing that when I get out of DroidLive, Google Maps, etc. they stay running in the back ground and the phone will start to get sluggish.
Also on Bootup the phone boots Facebook and Google Maps. Any way to disable this?
This has happened to me three times since getting my phone a little over a month ago. The four signal bars at the top go gray and an 'X' appears over the top of them. After this happens, all of my applications force close. The first time this happened, I took my phone to Verizon and they said they have never seen or heard of this happening so they just swapped out my phone for a brand new one. This worked for a day, until the same thing happened. Instead of waiting in line at Verizon for 3 hours again, I called customer service. The lady said it could be from an app. So I just decided to do a hard reset on my phone. It has worked for about 2 weeks and now its at it again.

Finally decided to bite the bullet and make an account.
Yesterday I bought my first android phone (LG Optimus 2x). Rooted it succesfully today and downloaded Bloat Freezer. I froze several applications successfully, but I think I went a step too far and froze somthing vital. Now my phone will not get past the intial 'StarHub' screen when turning on.
I have tried several things to try and fix this. I have tried unrooting the phone - this has not worked. I have also tried running the NVFlash and this has also yielded no results. I've tried the hard reset (holding volume keys when turning on) however it seems to freeze and nothing tends to happen.
My question therefore is, is it possible to defrost/unfreeze applications via computer?
When using stock browser, it closes automatically when going to a full site or one with flash. When going to the same site with dolphin, it opens but there is a green download box. Maybe I need to uninstall flash beta.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Nexbeast 1.1 fabs release clocked at 1.25ghz and I've dropped my phone maybe 4-5 times. None of them were big falls but the 3rd or 4th time I dropped it and all the times after that it has turned off. Anyways, whenever I do something for an extended period of time on my phone It freezes up. Seriously even if I'm only on it for 10 minutes. I can't do much without having this problem at least 1-2 times a day. Is their any fix to this? I don't recall it doing this on 2.1 builds. Could that be it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSeems to be getting more frequent. At first it was just freezing and would sometimes return to a usable state while I was listening to music. In the past couple of days it has begun freezing completely when using gtalk or other messaging applications when I would go to enter text. Voice to Text hangs and then force close, but everything else freezes up. I hold down the power button and feel the vibration when the screen to choose what option comes up, but nothing on the screen changes. A minute later, it reboots. I haven't had to do a battery pull yet.
Droid is rooted and I have removed maybe 3 apps... I can't pinpoint an installation of something that maybe caused this to start. Anyone with similar issues? Any fix? Should I just try and swap it out? I have the newest update...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI saw a thread where a user removed several apps after rooting the droid x and then successfully did a factory reset. I proceeded to remove the same apps using Titanium Backup. Before doing so, I saved the whole system/apps folder to the sd card in case i wanted to reinstall any later. I figured the reason these apps were installed in the system folder is so users couldn't touch them (assuming they weren't rooted). So just as a test, I tried reinstalling CityID using Root Explorer, and it installed it in the data/app folder (which uses the 8GB of internal memory). 1.) Can we effectively uninstall all the apps from the system folder and then reinstall them manually onto the 8GB of internal memory using root explorer, so we are no longer using our RAM space? 2.) Anyone feel brave enough to try doing this with a factory reset to see what happens? 3.) Another question I've seen asked and not answered is whether 'freezing' an application with Titanium will cause any harm with a factory reset (for something with a known issue like Backup Assistant), or would the app be re-enabled since the factory reset would blow away Titanium?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently when I use the stock/default music player, when I try to pause or stop it, it keeps playing. If I press the hard home key, it will go to the home screen but the music will keep playing even if I press pause. If I am still in the music player app and press the back button, it goes to a black screen and keeps playing. Today I tried to shut down my phone to get it to stop and it kept playing for a couple minutes and took much longer than usual for the phone to shut down.
Do I just have to use a different music player? Is the default one really buggy or something? Not sure if it has anything to do with it but I only noticed it after I updated to 2.2.
With Deodexed Froyo my camcorder crashes to desktop everytime I try to use it. It just closes the cam app and goes to desktop. This is both by clicking the camcorder icon and pressing the hardware button to access the software.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been running BB V0.4 with chevy's no1 ULV 1.2Ghz kernel (mostly as an experiment). All my normal applications run flawlessly and the battery life has been good. No issues streaming video, running Pandora, playing 3D games, running SetCPU stress test. However, about every 4th time I run Quadrant, it force closes on the program startup.
This looks like a warning sign that I'm running right on the edge and will eventually have trouble with my normal applications as well. I haven't run Quadrant before using this new kernel. Is this a program that will sometimes force close even nothing is wrong? Also it only force closes if I haven't run it in a while. Once it is in memory I can rerun it many times with no force closes.
Anyone noticed their phone randomly force closing? Mine just started and I've had it for about 6 weeks. I will say that my daughter and I both have DX's. Her brand new, out of the box DX forced closed within an hour of starting it up. It had done it a few times, when we swapped batteries. Now, mine (with her battery) just forced closed (mine hadn't done it previously).

Are there certain memory settings I should be using to prevent this?Also, when LPP DOES force close, there's no way to get out of it. It just closes down to where ever I was before the Internet was launched, w/o a "force close" message box. This has happened across many diff ROMs, many diff browsers, and many diff kernels. Hell, it's been happening since at least 2.1 and perhaps 2.0.1. I've tried clearing caches, wifi, lowering the kernel MHz, yet the issues still persist. Sometimes it happens instantaneously upon opening, sometimes it waits till I'm enjoying surfing away from my pc.
