I got sholes from the market last night and i absolutely LOVE it. I just have a few questions about my OC profile and a temp monitor
Right now my profile is set to
Charging:
Max 1
min 250
Sleep/Standby:
Max 550
Min 125
Power <100%
Max 800
Min 250
Failsafe
Max 550
Min 125
Do those look ok? Also what program works with Sholes to monitor battery and CPU temps?

For anyone running the Spare Parts app.. I'm just curious as to what your "normal" battery temps are so I can compare.
Light use - around 21 C
Medium - about 36 C
Heavy - upwards of 42 C (mostly while charging also)

Just installed sholes 2.0.6 and temp monitor for my cpu temp. I am fairly new to the overclocking world and don't want to mess anything up. What are some good temps to be seeing running at 1 Ghz and at what temp should I stop what I'm doing and let things cool down?

I updated baseband using recovery and everything went well. Afterwords, it appears to be messing with my temps. Previous to update SetCpu would consistently show temps in the 20's. Now it is almost always @ 30 or above. But Tempmonitor shows differently. Here are some pics. Any Ideas?

I have the paid Weatherbug app and live in Austin, Texas. The value reported by weatherunderground, weather.com, my car, as well as those drive-by LED billboards, tend to be within a couple of degrees of each other (usually 1-2 at max).
Weatherbug however (and correspondingly the Weatherbug site) tend to report temperatures 4-6 degrees lower. I understand that temperatures can vary across a metropolitan area, but 4-6 degrees?
I realize it's their data collection source rather than the phone app itself, otherwise their website wouldn't agree with the phone, which would be an app problem. I also realize it might be geographically isolated, but it's certainly consistently wrong at both my home and my job (26 miles apart, on opposite ends of town).
It would be nit-picking, except for the fact that it's a paid app, and I already dislike their radar/map. This is one paid app I wish I'd skipped.

TempMon is reporting 107 F + while streaming. That's battery temp, of course.CPU is significantly hotter than that.I've tried clocks from 700 up to 1100 and can't get it any cooler.at 700 its barely responsive enough to be functional.at 1200 it reboots.

I just deodexed the FRG01 build Pete posted a few days ago. I'm amazed i learned how to do it, although I had a tool that made it easier. Now I'm seeing during the deodexing it says the files are being put into a (origi_app) and (origi_frame) folder Root Explorer to look for these files and can't find them on my phone. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I'm on my way to making my first basic ROM.

on average what % battery is your android system using. mine usually uses from 20%-60%. On average its 40%, pretty much after normal use at any given time mine is at 40%. seem normal or a bit high? i have system panel and no app seems to be hogging or anything like that.edit: after some tweaks my android system is anywhere from 10%-40% tops.

Alright this thread is to talk about what kind of battery your getting with what kind of ROMS and KERNELS.
This shot is from Baked Snack 1.8 Kernel#6 with Low Rider theme with pretty little to medium use
Reason for this thread is to share what ROMS you've gotten best battery life from, cuz I'm trying to venture out and try some different ones with the best life.

Is there a Rom that has bare items in it? I'm talking about just the basic basic essentials that makes the stock rom look like a joke. Something that doesn't contain ringtones, music files, just the bare items to keep the rom going: basic phone, basic texting, etc. and no added items like facebook, twitter, etc. No added scripts, features. If none like this exists, then does anyone know what is safe to remove from a stock rom and what needs to stay? I'm looking into making my own personal rom (and maybe one I can share with you all) that I can play with as far as adding and removing items while maintaining max storage space on the phone itself.

Does anyone know of a simple, text only battery status widget? I am working on making a very clean minimalistic LauncherPRO UI, and would like to find a text only, transparent battery status widget. Ideally, something that fits nicely using the Beautiful Widgets Home (Small) widget for clock/date/weather info.

for the Droid X? Although I'm better on the larger screen I still mistype some and was wondering if there is good app that improves proximity and sensitivity issues. Preferably a free one but I'd listen if there was a good paid one.

I've had my DroidX for a few weeks now and a few days ago upgraded to Froyo. The phone is pretty much stock from Verizon, so no rooting and Froyo was from OTA update.
My question though is with running tasks. When I first got the phone it was commonly suggested on the forms to get a task application to kill unwanted tasks, but now I'm reading the contrary where people are saying to stay away from these types of applications. Why? I had Advanced Task-Killer installed which seemed to work, but I'm still unsure why so many applications are showing as running even though I haven't started them. For example the BBC News app is almost always running even though I've turned off all the auto-notification stuff. Skype is another one that seems to be running as a task even though I haven't launched it since restarting the phone.
Question 1 -- is there a good way to kill tasks that are running behind the scenes?
Question 2 -- is there anyway to view these start-up applications in Froyo and tell it not to run them?
Question 3 -- do such apps drain battery life or performance?

So what's the point of blacklisting numbers with handcent if you can still freely read them in the stock messaging?? Like if I didn't notice it first... holy crap... so is there anyway to fix this? Cause not everyone is dumb and won't think about looking under the app called messaging.

I have not found an installed app that does Notes or Tasks. I am coming from a Blackberry running Outlook 2007 on a Microsoft Exchange Server and I have lots of both Tasks and Notes and I need to be able to sync. There some in the apps store, but none that sync to Outlook, just ones that sync to GMail.
Terrible choice on Google's part. Even the iTouch and iPhone sync to Outlook. If I can't solve this I will have return my Droid and go back to my BlackBerry.

If not, please consider this a formal request. I understand it will take away the sliding keyboard functionality, but I still want one. Honestly, I just like the idea of a slip over silicone case, as opposed to a snap on case. Any help where I can at least find a basic black slip over silicone case for the droid?

I'm trying to get my new DX configured to my liking and am thrilled....except that I can't get Contact Quick Tasks to behave. I'm using Launcher Pro and suspect that's the problem. But what I need is to be able to one-touch dial a dozen or so contacts. (What a concept!) Is there a workaround or some other widget or app that can get me quick access to "speed dial"?

I figured I'd give everyone a heads up in regards to the Motorola Contact Quick Tasks Widget not working with Launcher Pro. You can use any of the stock Motorola widgets with Launcher Pro but they can not be re-sized. The only one that does not work is the Contact Quick Tasks, it will appear on the screen but when you try adding the type of task (text, phone) you get a message, saying that it needs to be re-sized, which you can not do with LP.
