Motorola Droid : Program Works With Sholes To Monitor Battery - CPU Temps?
Feb 13, 2010
I got sholes from the market last night and i absolutely LOVE it. I just have a few questions about my OC profile and a temp monitor
Right now my profile is set to
Charging:
Max 1
min 250
Sleep/Standby:
Max 550
Min 125
Power <100%
Max 800
Min 250
Failsafe
Max 550
Min 125
Do those look ok? Also what program works with Sholes to monitor battery and CPU temps?

For anyone running the Spare Parts app.. I'm just curious as to what your "normal" battery temps are so I can compare.
Light use - around 21 C
Medium - about 36 C
Heavy - upwards of 42 C (mostly while charging also)

Just installed sholes 2.0.6 and temp monitor for my cpu temp. I am fairly new to the overclocking world and don't want to mess anything up. What are some good temps to be seeing running at 1 Ghz and at what temp should I stop what I'm doing and let things cool down?

If you would like to test it then you can download it here: http://downloads.sholes.info/finalre...-2.0.6.rom.tgz Changes: 5 setCPU slots, temp moniter, new boot animation.

Is there a way to select an individual option from the sholes updater when selecting which music program you want? For instance I installed one option but want another. Is that possible or do I have to undo / redo the root?

Okay, I have been running sholes for a few days now and I am really digging it. I have also just OCd to 800 mhz (which I am currently happy with). I keep hearing about Pete's Bugless Beast. My question is, which of the two is better? I am not looking for opinions but more or less facts as to why someone would flash BB over Sholes or vise versa. Is there performance differnces, visual differences, etc.?

I just rooted yesterday and when I went to bed last night, I put my Droid in my multimedia and noticed that the temperature is displayed in Celcius, and I can't get it to change to Fahrenheit. I went to settings and Celcius isn't set, does anyone else have this problem?

I updated baseband using recovery and everything went well. Afterwords, it appears to be messing with my temps. Previous to update SetCpu would consistently show temps in the 20's. Now it is almost always @ 30 or above. But Tempmonitor shows differently. Here are some pics. Any Ideas?

First off, let me just say that I recently switched over to the Droid from my Palm Pre on Sprint, which was a huge letdown for me. I'm loving my Droid so far and I just rooted it today with Sholes 1.2 ROM. I'm not that impatient to install a 2.1 ROM on my phone, as I already like 2.0.1 enough to keep it stock.I was curious about installing some of the 2.1 apps on it, which is why I ended up installing Sholes 1.2. However, I've noticed that it seems to take quite a bit of my memory compared to stock 2.0.1. In fact, it seems to run slower in general than the stock 2.0.1. Is there any way to improve this, or should I just wait for the 2.1 OTA?

My phone "eris" was in my back pocket for about an hour as I was Food shopping. When I took it out It would not come out of Lock screen / sleep state. The Only thing that brought it back to life was taking the battery out and replacing it several times. I did not Sit on the phone or bump it in anyway that might have caused this. Also, when I put it in my pocket, the screen was already locked. This has happened about 4 times in the last week and the phone is just past the 30 day window for a return. On a side note, I recently installed Beautiful Widgets Version 2.85 and have noticed the phone will not go to sleep. I even unchecked the notifications option and chose all the different weather refresh settings, but it still would not sleep. Is this a bug or just the way the program works? By the way, When I say sleep I don't mean clicking the "End" button and locking the screen, But the internal phone "awake time" as found under phone status.

I wasn't having much luck with the video recording, but saw a thread on how to improve the quality with a few modifications. Thread here: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/39706-higher-quality-video-recording.html. It suggested that I change the bps from 300,000 to 800,000. I couldn't really figure out how to do it, so I never did. I eventually installed the Sholes ROM from the Market and noticed an instant improvement in video quality. I checked my Astro file, (in the system/build file as in the link posted above), and noticed that it is now set to 900,000 bps, rather than 300,000 obviously this was changed automatically by the Sholes ROM. Just another confirmation that the Sholes was a great decision, for me at least. Here's a couple of videos to show the difference. This is a breakfast/storage room and my dog, Riley, who never knows exactly how to behave in front of the camera.

I have the paid Weatherbug app and live in Austin, Texas. The value reported by weatherunderground, weather.com, my car, as well as those drive-by LED billboards, tend to be within a couple of degrees of each other (usually 1-2 at max).
Weatherbug however (and correspondingly the Weatherbug site) tend to report temperatures 4-6 degrees lower. I understand that temperatures can vary across a metropolitan area, but 4-6 degrees?
I realize it's their data collection source rather than the phone app itself, otherwise their website wouldn't agree with the phone, which would be an app problem. I also realize it might be geographically isolated, but it's certainly consistently wrong at both my home and my job (26 miles apart, on opposite ends of town).
It would be nit-picking, except for the fact that it's a paid app, and I already dislike their radar/map. This is one paid app I wish I'd skipped.

I'm looking for a task program that's more than just a start-up monitor or a one-time tasks killer. I'm after something which constantly monitors what programs are opening and automatically kills those I don't need (for instance Maps, MP3 Store, Outlook Tasks, Settings, Touchdown, all of which, however many times I close them, seem to keep reopening). So I need something intelligent that will run in the background and close apps as necessary.
Can anybody please recommend anything?

TempMon is reporting 107 F + while streaming. That's battery temp, of course.CPU is significantly hotter than that.I've tried clocks from 700 up to 1100 and can't get it any cooler.at 700 its barely responsive enough to be functional.at 1200 it reboots.

I started developing this yesterday, and wanted to get thoughts. My goal is a notification driven warning service. It's not going to "fix" the issues, but will at least monitor some key things.
I'm just trying to take all these forum posts where users don't understand what is causing a battery drain.
I don't want to make this app to complicated, but want it to be useful to auto catch issues before the phone dies.

Basically i went from getting 15+ hours of battery life to getting 4 hours today and maybe 7 yesterday. This is 2 days in a row. Running baked snack 1.9 with not too many apps.. I had gone a few weeks being amazed by battery life. I don't think I've added any apps that would cause this.

Can anyone recommend a good battery monitor-typed app? It can be a widget or app, but I'd like to have some sort of visual representation of how much battery is left (like a %). Doesn't have to be in notification area (unless I can hide the stock one). All the ones I search in the market just don't look like they are worth anything, and if I pay for one, I want it to be worth it. I'm monitoring my battery usage. I installed one and it told me 30% but the stock battery bar was full. It was then uninstalled.
