Android :: Basic Text Only Battery Status Widget
Jul 11, 2010
Does anyone know of a simple, text only battery status widget? I am working on making a very clean minimalistic LauncherPRO UI, and would like to find a text only, transparent battery status widget. Ideally, something that fits nicely using the Beautiful Widgets Home (Small) widget for clock/date/weather info.

Its happy to see that there is a inbuilt battery status widget in android 2.1. But sometimes it hangs and % value isn't changing in widget. At the same time its working correctly in
Settings ----> About phone ----> status ----> battery level
If I restarts the phone widget is also working.

I recently had to do a factory reset and I lost all my apps. One of them was a text battery indicator that put a 1x1 icon on my screen that was transparent and just said "ninety percent" I can't find it at all in the market. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and remember the name?

The thread listed here is pretty old and it does not apply to my Epic Tough running 2.3.6. I am trying to accomplish the same thing but can not seem to locate any proper info on how to do it. I am still new to reading code and messing with .smali files and xml's but I have no problem learning.
I have tried the lockscreen mods but they all seem to give me Hot Reboots since most of the framework and jar files seem to have errors in them. I can deal with out the lockscreen mod but I truly like the text based battery and CM is not a choice for me at this moment until they get it stable.

I'm doing a bit of online copy-writing on the side at the moment, and it would be great if I could use this thing to write a few paragraphs here and there when I'm on the move. How would the HTC Desire handle multi-tasking between a browser and a basic text editor? I won't be looking for any crazy formatting options; don't need to change margins, add pagination or anything. Just a few sites open for researching facts and an application that can handle badly worded sentences with lame jokes thrown in
My contract is due to run out soon and I'm not sure whether I should negotiate one with a free Desire, or get a cheap handset and then buy a netbook. I'm broke at the moment so its a case of either/or!

I know this comes in some ROMs and maybe some themes, anyone seen a stand alone option for people in root to add this ability in the MENU bar, not the task bar?

Battery Left was the first thing I installed on my phone when I got it. My battery life has been terrible so I've been trying to track down the problem. I woke up today, unplugged my phone and didn't touch it for an hour. Battery Left says I have 70 percent left but the battery meter in the status bar showed full. I uninstalled battery left and installed Battstatt and it shows 90 percent (2 hours later). Anyone else have problems with battery left? I hope this fixes my battery problem.

Motorola Droid user coming from iPhone here. One of the features I miss is having the battery percentage indicated in the status bar next to the little icon (in fact, I'd rather just have the percentage rather than the icon). Is there an app to show that in the status bar? It seems the precision of the battery meter is by 10% increments until it reaches 20%, but even that would be better than just the icon.

First I want to acheive battery status and signal strength instantly. For Battery Status, we can use SystemProperties.get ("status.battery.level_raw") to get current battery level. This class is not in SDK reference, but we can see this function is used in BatteryService and other fields. I use it successfully But for Signal Strength, I only find the way to use onSignalStrengthChange(int asu) which only gives us an "asu", new version seems to support onSignalStrengthsChange(....). But now, is there better ways for exact signal strength?

I am trying to populate the text of a second EditText widget with the text from the first EditText widget only when the second EditText widget receives focus, the second widget is not empty, and the first widget is not empty. When I run it and click into the second widget it does not populate. When I remove the third constraint ('etxt.getText ().toString().trim() == ""')) it works. so getText() on the second EditText widget is returning something even though the second widget has no initial value other then the text that is displayed via the hint attribute.

private static final String APP_ID = "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX";
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
}

do you know what app/widget that is on the left? Maybe, do you know similar apps that can show all kinds of notifications on homescreen (not lockscreen)?
The screenshot was on Simple Calendar Widget but it has to be another app.

Just wanted to put in my two cents for those getting bad battery use with the Fresh 3.3.0.1 update.
Stock radio and PRI
Fresh 3.3.0.1
SetCPU profiles:
Normal: 652 / 245 onDemand
Screen off: 245 / 245 performance
9 hr 40 min down 15% with moderate use. I use Exchange (with push turned on) ~125 emails, gmail, ~25 text and ~20 minutes in phone calls, Twitter, BBC news feed and No 4G. And just a note that I had a reboot in there, so that took a few % away.

Whenever I use the Friend Stream widget to update my Facebook status, I get an error. It says "Unable to update Facebook at this time". But I can leave a comment. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I think this is a good widget. I would like to use it.

is there any app that will show notifications on a custom lockscreen (widgetlocker) ? I've tried iPhone Notifications, LockerPro, NotifierPro , Popup Notifier Plus, notification browser and Droid Notify Pro.
But no one seems to show all notifications for example: whatsapp, facebook, plume, dropbox, rummified (game) and all other status bar notifications. i would like an app that shows all messages from the status bar on widget locker.

Info about when the phone was last connected to the charger? I ran across that last night (my first day with the Evo) and I wanted to look at it again since I unplugged it in the middle of the night and don't remember when I did so. I've only had the phone since about 5 pm yesterday but I've put it through very heavy use and so far I'm 'very' pleased with the battery life. Definitely better than my Hero so far.
