View 4 RepliesI manage a project where users upload JPEG images for processing. Generally the images are taken with Nikon cameras, but recently one user took images with a Droid and the client software did not recognize the Droid JPEG images for upload. The client software developer said it's because they read images written in the standard JPEG file interchange format (JFIF), and Droid JPEGs are not in this format. Why, and can this be corrected?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNo matter what I do I am unable to open a file, either in my app's data directory or on the sdcard and also in a folder on the sdcard. To test I placed a test.txt file in all three directories.When I do listfiles, I get the correct list of files set in an array. I've even tried getting the list and filtering out a specific file and try opening it that way and just trying the first item in the array. Is there some security that may be set that is making it so I cant open files? This is not the emulator, it is on a device.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friend and I have HTC Hero phones. I am with Sprint, she is with Cellular South (a carrier here in south Mississippi). We are both unable to see pictures sent to us as part of an email (like pictures in a joke). And she is unable to open pictures as email attachments in her Yahoo acct. We have played with settings and Goggled this problem, to no avail. nothing works.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded K9, having read on here what a good email program it is. I can't get the thing to work with my Yahoo.co.uk account. It's Pop 3. The account works ok with the standard HTC email program, but when I try to set it up using K9, I get "Setup could not finish Cannot connect to server (Unable to open connection to POP server)." I've googled it, I tried setting it up without using wifi, and tried changing settings to IMAP and port numbers, but just can't get anywhere with it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUp until now I have been able to open attachments with no problem but now I cant seem to be able to open any. I get the email and the paper clip is there but I cant do anything with it. No long press, or tap, or double tap or anything. Its just not opening anything. Done battery pull but still a no go.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have exchange set up on my Droid through the email program that comes with the phone.. Its been working fine until this weekend, really. 3 separate times, it's failed to load my inbox or sync new messages, and it pops up with the unable to open connection to server message.Ive quadruple checked all of my settings, removed my account, re-added my account, refreshed it, and still, it wont sync my inbox and it still shows that message. I even tried installing touchdown, and touchdown wouldnt sync my email either? I didnt like how it kept my contacts all separate from my gmail contacts, so I went ahead and uninstalled it. I REALLY just want to use the regular exchange email program..But get this, I am able to sync my sent mail though, and Im able to SEND email messages, just not receive them.
We have our own exchange server for our company, and we have 4 other people in our office running exchange on their phones, (2 Motorola Droids, 1 Droid X, and an HTC 6800...) Nobody else is having issues with their phones syncing their email so I know this isnt an exchange issue, but a phone issue instead.Ive run an update (just the *228) on my phone, reset it like 3 times, killed all the apps, and it still wont sync my inbox (just my sent mail..) And again, it'll send email but wont receive it.I know calling or going into a verizon store will be a waste of time.
i recently brought the xperia x10 and i can not add my hotmail account it keeps coming up with unable to open connection to the server. i was able to add my gmail account though.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI understand how to use the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications process to clear settings for applications. Unfortunately, I managed to set .xls files to open with the included QuickOffice on my Droid. QuickOffice is not listed in the Manage Applications list. Does anyone know a method to reset this file open binding?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to link my 1and1 email account with my x10 on orange. Tried following all guides I can find but always says:
"Setup could not finish Unable to open connection to server."
When forwarding a message on an exchange account, it attaches the forwarded email as an attachment in the .EML format.
Motorola's troubleshooting page indicates that it cannot open this file format.
Does anyone know of a workaround or APP that can open this file type?
"Unable to open connection to server." That's the message I'm getting from my Droid every time I try to set up a connection to my web hosts SMTP server using IMAP. The settings I put in the Droid work fine on my laptop and on my blackberry.
I've tries using ports 25, 1025, 465 and 587. I even tried 143 and 585. Anyone have any clue why this is happening? Anyone else having trouble with SMTP/IMAP connections to their email server? Right now I can't send emails from the Droid and that's a HUGE problem.
My company's exchange server is similar to mail.company.com/exchange, but when I put in that address, it removes the "/exchange" and it gives me an error saying "Unable to open connection to server". Is there a way around this, or am I stuck without the ability to sync my work email?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCan I have sub-folders to hold my drawable resources. For example can I store an image in, say, 'res/drawable/content/images/myimage.jpg' and then find that resource via a call to:
id = context.getResources().getIdentifier("com.mycompany.myprog:drawable/ content/images/myimage", null, null);
I have tried this and it doesn't seem to be working (but I may have something wrong). Is it supposed to work or do all the resources need to be in the root drawable folder? Also, are jpeg files supported and drawable resources?
How do I get my phone to open a list of files when posting to a forum and using the 'manage attachment' button?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that I am unable to send mail using an email account on my web domain - I get a generic message that states something similar to the email is unable to be sent. I was previously able to email on my old Blackberry using the same account, so I would think it'd be possible on the Droid X. I have tried all ports I saw suggested in the forums on my web host's site but none of the three I tried work for me. I am able to receive mail without any problems and my web host confirmed the below settings should be correct. I know for certain that the user name requires the full email address, rather than just the user name portion. Please see below and let me know what I need to change to get this working. Thanks in advance for your help.
SMTP server: mail.redszone.com
Port: 25
Username: (myemaillogin)@redszone.com
Password: (my email password)
Use secure connection: unchecked
Verify certificate: unchecked
While developing for Android, I am unable to open more than one main.xml file in an Eclipse editor at a time.Each time I open one, it simply replaces the editor (tab) of the first main.xml with the new one, instead of opening a new tab - even if the contents of the existing tab were unsaved.Even stranger, I can open multiple main.xml files from different projects with no problems.This only happens when they're within the same project.

Can anyone help me by directing me towards and app or setting that will allow me to view rtf files received as email attachments?
I have Documents to Go full version but the phone won't even download the file.
1.myJpegFile = new File("images/jpegImage.jpg");
2.output = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(myJpegFile));
3.encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(output);
4.encoder.encode(myJpegImage); Please could you give me the equivalent code for line no. 3 and 4 in Android?
On a few apps I have downloaded I am unable to actually open the app. The app does not show up in my apps list and when I open it in the marketplace it says it's installed but the "open" button is grayed out. Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's an app error? This has only happened on about 4 apps I've downloaded. The most recent one is BatterLife.

When I try to do this with Windows Explorer, it just hangs there, and the sdcard area of the phone gets really hot. Once I unplug the USB cable Windows Explorer resumes, but the phone is still stuck there and unresponsive to any button/touch screen presses, and the phone remains hot. Copying from the sdcard works.

2. Is there anyway to copy entire email (Text part) and save it as a file or txt memo? Or can you highlight a paragraph in email, and save it as a text of copy to memo file? No luck so far, I can't even select desired part of email text...
3. Can you easily capture a screenshot and save it as a jpg file?
