My friend and I have HTC Hero phones. I am with Sprint, she is with Cellular South (a carrier here in south Mississippi). We are both unable to see pictures sent to us as part of an email (like pictures in a joke). And she is unable to open pictures as email attachments in her Yahoo acct. We have played with settings and Goggled this problem, to no avail. nothing works.

My company has both Ev's and Intercepts. When users forward email using these devices the forwarded message gets attached as a .e mail file and neither can open attachments sent by these phones.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI cannot open email attachments of any type using the stock email or TouchDown app, which I use to pull email from my job's Exchange Server. Email functions fine otherwise. I can see that an email has an attachment, but when i click to download, the process begins then always ends with the message 'Not implemented". This happens will all file types.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've written an app that can handle the VIEW action for a given mime Type, say "application/foo". By adding the following to Android Manifest.xml the Browser automatically uses my app to open downloads of that type. The G Mail app also tries to use my app to Preview attachments of that type, but it's passing a URI with scheme "g mail-ls://" rather than a "file://" URI. I guess I need to use a Content Provider to get the attachment data, I haven't looked into that yet. But the real mystery is the Email app there just doesn't seem any way to make it open the attachments. Any pointers? Opening attachments is a very common requirement of course, and I would expect the Android platform to encourage developers to write apps to handle more mime types. Instead I couldn't find any answers.

But when I get emails with attachments I have to save the attachments on the phone then navigate to where they are saved to be able to view them. Is there a setting that can be changed or an app to download that will allow me to view the files without saving them to the SD card?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of the tickets are electronic tickets (pdf) saved in my gmail, and I thought I would be able to open up the files and just let them scan my phone. Yet when I tried to open the file, it pulled up the PDF viewer app and then told me it wasn't able to open it. Why is this? I also just tried saving the attachment to my sd card from the gmail app and open it from there, but I couldn't figure out how to save an attachment from an email to my phone. Any help here would be great.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have used the stock sms, Chomp sms, and handcent sms and they all seem to have the same problem. I can send a pic through them, but when the person responds to the text, its says download, I press that and its unable to DL it says. My friend sent a pic twice on handcent, the same one, and it came through the second time only. Sometimes no pic will work at all. With hancent it resizes automatic, thats great, but still the same issue. Man I love everything about this phone but this is really annoying.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed the wireless tethering app today and decided to play with it for the heck of it, I was able to set it up, and when I went to my laptop and hit refresh I was able to see the network, I then tried to connect and it would not connect, as it said something about a 13 key ascii so I checked to see and checked the password and still could not connect got the same error message, i then decided to disable the encryption and then refresh the network and tried to connect again, I was able to connect but was not able to open a page up, now i don't know if that was because my reception was not great but still would not open a web page, any suggestions, another note, it rebooted the phone about 3 times and froze the phone once, I am on the AOSP Mod ROM V 0.9.7. I know the Cat mentioned he got his to work, just curious if it was with this Rom or the CM6 one, any input would be great, just want it as a backup incase of in a bind.

This can be done any which way, and I'm open to suggestions if you can tell me how to send over network or something like that. Currently, I'm looking at sending the file as an email attachment, but I haven't found any good documentation on how to do it. I need two things to accomplish this, be able to send my file (stored on sd card or somewhere on device) as an attachment, and have my app recognized by android as the app to open an attachment with the file extension (.lst).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded K9, having read on here what a good email program it is. I can't get the thing to work with my Yahoo.co.uk account. It's Pop 3. The account works ok with the standard HTC email program, but when I try to set it up using K9, I get "Setup could not finish Cannot connect to server (Unable to open connection to POP server)." I've googled it, I tried setting it up without using wifi, and tried changing settings to IMAP and port numbers, but just can't get anywhere with it.

"Setup could not finish Unable to open connection to server."
I've had my HTC Hero for one week. First day I got it, I walked into a Radio Shack and connected to the open WiFi instantly no problem. I can connect to any secured network (w/ pwd) no problem. However, ever since I put the phone in airplane mode while on a flight, I haven't been able to connect to any open Wifi network. The Hero detects the network and says I'm connected, but I can't get on the internet at all. The phone says it's not in airplane mode but maybe it still is? help please. I'm running android 2.1.

I have one now and am tasked with getting all the synchronization set up and working for the 30 attorneys and administrative staff I support. The only issue I am having is that I am unable to see, let alone open attachments on emails I receive on the phone. I can see that the message has an attachment because it has a paper clip next to the subject/sender in the email list. When I open the email, I see no evidence of an attachment. One thing I just figured out was that I can open PDF attachments as the phone came with a PDF viewer, but cannot open .DOCs even though I have installed the Docs Togo basic program. (It includes the DOC and XLS viewers). Is this not sufficient to open the attachments? If not is there some other FREE app that will allow me view these attachments on my EVO?

Sprint updated my profile today (turn on the picture mail app) and every since that time, I have not been able to open attachments. I have rebooted several times, un installed and re-installed the yahoo app, updated my profile and PRL. Still no luck. Any ideas?
