View 8 Repliesjust got Verizon Eris. I like the touch screen and it's overall performance but several things are becoming major headache for me... I did search but not much luck.. but my apology in advance if these Q's annoys you...
1. Can't open any of MS Office 2007 files like docx, xlsx, pptx. Do I have to buy Officesuit or documents to go, or quickoffice programs to open these? Any other free softwares that anyone know about? These are really show stoppers to me.
2. Is there anyway to copy entire email (Text part) and save it as a file or txt memo? Or can you highlight a paragraph in email, and save it as a text of copy to memo file? No luck so far, I can't even select desired part of email text...
3. Can you easily capture a screenshot and save it as a jpg file?
Kind of like filez for the palm OS? ive downloaded a few things I want to delete but I am unsure how to do so. I see a file manager program, anyone have an opinion on which is best?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got my new HTC Hero and I really like it. But I have one small issue. I'd like to open and view word, excel and pdf files in the browser but it doesn't allow me to. It starts to load but suddenly stops.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy searches all bring back ways to transfer files using my Windows Explorer on my PC Interface via USB and on Android "Es file explorer" using wifi.
I use ES file Explorer to view shared folders on my PC via wifi. I want to do the same thing only faster through USB. Similar to how you connect the android to your pc and it shows the internal sd and external sd in windows explorer.
For example... I want to browse my vast collection of "Justin Bieber's Monkey confiscated by German customs for excessive spanking" pics on my pc to find one that looks good as my android wallpaper. I dont want to use wifi and cant load the 74GB of pics from my pc on my 8 GB SD card on my Android to go through them.
PDF, docx, xls, ppt. Is there an application on the market that allows me to view all these types of files? I have seen a few, but they all get crappy reviews. Anyone have one that works for them? Also, is it free or paid?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust curious how exactly to see your de card and what is saved on it. I saved ringtones and how no idea how to find them.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change the icons of files on the SD card? I'm using OI File Manager.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo as the title states, I'm an idiot and delted everything off of my SD card. The idiot part comes from me getting all gitty about the 2.1 v3 update, not thinking about the pictures and videos that I didn't back up (my music and ROMs already were backed up) and deleting my SD card purposely to get rid of all the old, unneccesary files and folders. Anyways, is there anyway to get these old files back? I've seen another post about a file recovery program but it wasn't very specific.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm not the only one with naughty pics of my girl friend or other girls on my phone that I don't want the girl friend, other girls, or friends and people in general to see...
Is there a way to put these files in a secure/passwored folder on the SD card that the "Albums" or any other video/pic app can't access? Besides keeping my phone locked, I don't want someone accidently flicking through the photo album and stumble upon these. Also I noticed even switching the Wallpaper shows all the pics on the phone.
I have an idea of an app called "Stash" where you can move any files (maybe even contacts/texts) to a particular place on the SD card that the phone can not find.
Verizon Galaxy Note 3, up-to-date, stock ROM, not rooted.
I have a 64gb MicroSD card installed, and put a copy of my photography website on it. I find I am unable to figure out a way to open it in Google Chrome.
I used ES File Explorer's FTP function to begin with, to copy files from my website to the card, and this worked beautifully. When I click on the index.html file on the card, the only options offered are HTML Viewer and some text editors. Chrome is not an option (Chrome is the default browser for my phone). I can try "Open as" and choose Chrome, but get the same error message as below.
If I long-press the file, and select Properties, I can copy the (full) Path for the file, but when I paste this into Chrome's URL bar, it won't open:
Access to the file was denied "The file at file:///storage/extSdCard/PhotoWebsite/index.html is not readable. It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access"
I have searched quite a bit, and tried various addresses, including localhost, localhost/mnt, content:, etc., etc., but nothing seems to work.
Ultimately I want to have a Bookmark in Chrome where I can view my website offline when necessary, but this seems to be more complex than would appear necessary.
How to view pdf files on my x10 mini pro? I copied a pdf to my sd card but the music and image files were visible but couldn't find the pdf file so I shifted it first 2 video folder than 2 album but I still cant find it on my mini pro? The specs say it has a document viewer but where? Is there a way 2 access 2 my sd card folder on mini pro rather on computer?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to "refresh" the SD card after copying new files to it? Scenario: I copied some new mp3s from my network drive over wifi, but when I go into the music player, the new mp3s don't show. I have to unmount and then mount the SD card or mount the phone as a USB drive on my laptop. It's not a killer, but it would be nice to be able to force a refresh rather than digging out my USB cable or popping the back cover off the phone every time I copy new music to the SD card.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have 3 different pdf viewer apps downloaded including the documents to go one that was 15 bucks. the problem is, there are certain types of pdf attachments that still wont open (they are text pdfs), picture pdfs do work. it says "this attachment cannot be displayed" after it tries to fetch it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI understand how to use the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications process to clear settings for applications. Unfortunately, I managed to set .xls files to open with the included QuickOffice on my Droid. QuickOffice is not listed in the Manage Applications list. Does anyone know a method to reset this file open binding?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.
Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.
I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.
I was able to move a few files to my X from my computer earlier tonight, but I unplugged it from my computer to do something on the phone, and when I plugged it in later, the computer showed the phone storage (drive F) and SD card (drive G). However, I can't open the SD card, and when I go into the SD Card settings on the phone, it keeps going back and forth between Mount and Unmount. The stuff on the card is there and everything works fine when I'm not connected to the computer. But I can't move anything to my phone via USB since I can't get the computer to recognize the SD card. I also noticed that there's no option to format the SD card (well, it's there, but grayed out).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI sent a pdf file from my corporate email to my personal email. On my Droid email it gives me the option to save or open. It opens and I know it saves on my sd card. How do I find it and view it after that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wrote an app that downloads web sites and all their assets (images/stylesheets) to "disk" and therefore stores lots of small files on the SD card.
Sometimes it fails to delete large amounts of files and afterward the file system is r/o. To analyze that behavior I tried to do the removal of the files by hand and then go from there. But that already failed.

The log contained nothing but the usual gc output and random WiFi status changed mumbo jumbo.
Anybody else seeing this behavior?
There were 6.500 files in that directory. Might that be the problem? I don't access the files with queries, I always have the exact name.
I rooted droid X and copied apk files into the sd card, but suddenly I don't see the files even though I did not erase. I can see them in ASTRO but not in the explorer (computer). Also, I realized that pictures of screenshots are not appeared in the explorer but I can see them in ASTRO and gallery in the phone. So how can I see and erase them?

I have Documents to Go full version but the phone won't even download the file.
My Sandisc 64GB SD card went kaputt last week, it froze at 33GB, luckily the existing files are all ok and I was able to copy all the files onto my PC, however nothing new can be written to it. I've tried formatting with no success. So I copied the files onto the PC and just got a new this time Samsung 64GB micro SD card. Problem I'm having now is that on several attempts it's failed to copy the files back to my SD card (from PC) I've formatted the card in the Note 3..the music files about 4 GB transferred just fine, the problem seems to be with the Pix and Videos. I'm currently trying to copy the DCIM folder back onto the micro sd and it's saying it'll take 6 hours.
I have tried: copying from PC to micro SD in the phone via USB copying from PC to micro SD in SD card adapter plugged directly into PC
copying from PC to micro SD in USB adapter plugged into PC
all results the same
I have a CyanogenMod nightlie I need to install on my phone. I downloaded it I and found it in Astro manager but I don't know how to move it to my sd card so it shows up in recovery mode. Moto droid. If someone could tell me how to move the zip files to my sd card that'd be great.

I am wanting to delete some things from my sd card to free up some space. Can anyone tell me what files to leave alone so I don't jack up my phone.
