i recently brought the xperia x10 and i can not add my hotmail account it keeps coming up with unable to open connection to the server. i was able to add my gmail account though.

I am trying to link my 1and1 email account with my x10 on orange. Tried following all guides I can find but always says:
"Setup could not finish Unable to open connection to server."
My company's exchange server is similar to mail.company.com/exchange, but when I put in that address, it removes the "/exchange" and it gives me an error saying "Unable to open connection to server". Is there a way around this, or am I stuck without the ability to sync my work email?
View 25 Replies View RelatedNew to X8 and Android - was k850i user. I am trying to setup the X8 to work with my personal email, other than Gmail.My provider uses POP and SMTP servers. The POP server address is pop-server@xyz.site.com. The SMTP server address is smtp-server@xyz.site.com
I select the POP3 choice, I enter the POP server address and then the SMTP server address. At this point the "Continue" bar is present but grayed out - it cannot be selected. If I press the leftward return arrow at the bottom of the phone I am returned to email sign-in, the phone displays a spinner and then returns to the POP SMTP setup screen.
I recently downloaded K9, having read on here what a good email program it is. I can't get the thing to work with my Yahoo.co.uk account. It's Pop 3. The account works ok with the standard HTC email program, but when I try to set it up using K9, I get "Setup could not finish Cannot connect to server (Unable to open connection to POP server)." I've googled it, I tried setting it up without using wifi, and tried changing settings to IMAP and port numbers, but just can't get anywhere with it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just got the x10 mini. i have set my hotmail account up on the email function and have gone into settings and set up to get notifications of new emails coming through. the problem i am having is that i only get the notifications when i physically go into the email function and refresh- which completely defeats the point of the function. Has anyone else had this problem, or have i not set it up correctly?

I noticed that the backup hadn't saved my email details so I attempted to setup it up from scratch to my isp's pop3 server (Zen Internet). I input my details over and over and kept getting server not found/ authentication wrong. Then I realised one of my password letters should have been capitalised... So, I thought that'll be it. reentered my details but this time the continue button won't work... No amount of pressing gets even an error message. So, I turned the phone on and off...Still no good and now the phone can't find the setup guide that I carefully copied over to a new 16gb mini sdcard...

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have exchange set up on my Droid through the email program that comes with the phone.. Its been working fine until this weekend, really. 3 separate times, it's failed to load my inbox or sync new messages, and it pops up with the unable to open connection to server message.Ive quadruple checked all of my settings, removed my account, re-added my account, refreshed it, and still, it wont sync my inbox and it still shows that message. I even tried installing touchdown, and touchdown wouldnt sync my email either? I didnt like how it kept my contacts all separate from my gmail contacts, so I went ahead and uninstalled it. I REALLY just want to use the regular exchange email program..But get this, I am able to sync my sent mail though, and Im able to SEND email messages, just not receive them.
We have our own exchange server for our company, and we have 4 other people in our office running exchange on their phones, (2 Motorola Droids, 1 Droid X, and an HTC 6800...) Nobody else is having issues with their phones syncing their email so I know this isnt an exchange issue, but a phone issue instead.Ive run an update (just the *228) on my phone, reset it like 3 times, killed all the apps, and it still wont sync my inbox (just my sent mail..) And again, it'll send email but wont receive it.I know calling or going into a verizon store will be a waste of time.
Am looking for some help have had an issue on more than 1 occasion. Here goes hopefully i will explain it clearly . When receiving .jpg files via emails i am having problems and have had from day one is i cant seem to open the images through the phone. I have a image of the Android man in green in the emails with the filename eg car.jpg have tried clicking on it to open but no joy plz plz do you know what is wrong. Xperia x10.
View 3 Replies View Related"Unable to open connection to server." That's the message I'm getting from my Droid every time I try to set up a connection to my web hosts SMTP server using IMAP. The settings I put in the Droid work fine on my laptop and on my blackberry.
I've tries using ports 25, 1025, 465 and 587. I even tried 143 and 585. Anyone have any clue why this is happening? Anyone else having trouble with SMTP/IMAP connections to their email server? Right now I can't send emails from the Droid and that's a HUGE problem.
My Gmail account works great, and I have my aol and yahoo acounts set up no problem (well the yahoo was a little problem but got it to work so thats all that matters). I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.

On wifi, everything works, but I can't seem to setup the APN or use the appropriate information. View 3 Replies View RelatedWell I encountered a really weird and not pleasent experience with my x10 today. I had it charging overnight like probably everyone who has one does and than I unplugged it to get started for the day. However, when I unplugged it from the usb cord, the screen got locked and flashed. So I turned it off and turned it back on. Well when it came back on, I had LOST everything that I had setup on my 3 screens! No icons, no nothing! Everything was gone except for the wallpaper or theme, which was the same I had setup. I did have ADW setup as my launcher, but all my launchers were gone as well. When I held down the center button, which would normally bring up my launcher option, it brought me to the homescreen.
So now I have to go through and resetup all of the icons and screens. Not a big ordeal, but what is troubling me is why did it even happen?
I want to use our company WiFi to connect to net on x10. I have configured basic WiFi setting and i can see all computers on LAN. We are using proxy for Internet browsing but there is no provision to enter proxy IP details for WiFi. Earlier I was using SE P990i and it had provision to configure proxy which I could not find in X10.

I've set up an email account on my mini pro (NOT gmail or exchange) and it all works fine updating my inbox manually , however, I cant find any settings to automatically retrieve my emails periodically ( as far I can see auto sync refers to gmail or sony sync or road sync for exchange). Is there any way to auto sync an individual email account ?
