I understand how to use the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications process to clear settings for applications. Unfortunately, I managed to set .xls files to open with the included QuickOffice on my Droid. QuickOffice is not listed in the Manage Applications list. Does anyone know a method to reset this file open binding?

I have a S3 and every time I select always open for a video or whatever it just tells me to reset the application settings. How do I make something always open with a app so I don't have to always select just once?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have 3 different pdf viewer apps downloaded including the documents to go one that was 15 bucks. the problem is, there are certain types of pdf attachments that still wont open (they are text pdfs), picture pdfs do work. it says "this attachment cannot be displayed" after it tries to fetch it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to write an application that has a built in .pdf file. Once the application is run it must open up the "Choose default application" menu and the user must be able to choose which application they would like to open the pdf file with.
So basically it must export the .pdf to an external (default) pdf reader. If the mobile doesn't have a default pdf reader then it must send the user to the download page of adobe reader.
Is there an app to open files in yahoo and gmail?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI saw a thread where a user removed several apps after rooting the droid x and then successfully did a factory reset. I proceeded to remove the same apps using Titanium Backup. Before doing so, I saved the whole system/apps folder to the sd card in case i wanted to reinstall any later. I figured the reason these apps were installed in the system folder is so users couldn't touch them (assuming they weren't rooted). So just as a test, I tried reinstalling CityID using Root Explorer, and it installed it in the data/app folder (which uses the 8GB of internal memory). 1.) Can we effectively uninstall all the apps from the system folder and then reinstall them manually onto the 8GB of internal memory using root explorer, so we are no longer using our RAM space? 2.) Anyone feel brave enough to try doing this with a factory reset to see what happens? 3.) Another question I've seen asked and not answered is whether 'freezing' an application with Titanium will cause any harm with a factory reset (for something with a known issue like Backup Assistant), or would the app be re-enabled since the factory reset would blow away Titanium?

and all it did was create some "blank" 1kb PNG files in the screenshot folder.

1. Can't open any of MS Office 2007 files like docx,xlsx, pptx. Do I have to buy Officesuit or documents to go, or quickoffice programs to open these? Any other free softwares that anyone know about? These are really show stoppers to me.
2. Is there anyway to copy entire email (Text part) and save it as a file or txt memo? Or can you highlight a paragraph in email, and save it as a text of copy to memo file? No luck so far, I can't even select desired part of email text...
3. Can you easily capture a screenshot and save it as a jpg file?
Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View Relatedafter my update i noticed programs opening in the background all the time. between this, the choppy everything, and pandora never closing, i decided to do the hard reset. after that, i just had to reinstall apps. now its smooth and faster than ever. so, the issue ATK still shows apps open that were not open before. i kill them and check in 20 and sometimes things like Skype and pandora are open but i never started the app. i am thinking that the ATK isnt working. to even push this idea more, now when i surf the net, i close it with the ATK. it says its closed but when i open the internet again, its on the same page i left it on. why not my home page as before. i did set my home page.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI did a factory reset because i thought it would fix a number of problems i had before and after the 2.1 OTA.
1. HTC's weather app wouldn't update on it's own or manually (sometimes) (not a force close issue)
2. Mobile network issue. Places where i would get 3-4 bars got 1-2 (sometimes 3) and the "D" under 3G mostly changes to the up down arrow. This was on 1.5 and might have to wait maybe another day to see if this continue on 2.1.
3. apps is my main issue. I know all the apps are in the download section on the market and i saved my apps in the SD card but when I reinstalled, scores and profiles from different apps and not there. Is there a way to restore the apps to where there they where before the factory reset instead of the apps acting like it's been just downloaded.
When i open my application manager, it forces closes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI uploaded about 50 pictures from iPhoto (using a Mac) just to see what they looked like and then later formatted the Droid's SD card, so the pictures were no longer there.
Now, if I mount the Droid via USB and view the file structure there is a folder named /albumthumbs which contains 50 files, presumably for the 50 pictures a had on the SD card.
To me, these file, unless linking to actual photos stored on the SD card, take up extra space in the phone's memory (not worried about the SD card). I wonder if I can safely delete them (just the files...not the folder)?

View 3 Replies View RelatedNo matter what I do I am unable to open a file, either in my app's data directory or on the sdcard and also in a folder on the sdcard. To test I placed a test.txt file in all three directories.When I do listfiles, I get the correct list of files set in an array. I've even tried getting the list and filtering out a specific file and try opening it that way and just trying the first item in the array. Is there some security that may be set that is making it so I cant open files? This is not the emulator, it is on a device.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAs advised by the experts, I did a factory reset when my phone went wacky on me. I didn't actually have Froyo installed when this happened, but as soon as I did the reset, I received a system prompt concerning the available upgrade and took it. My phone works better now, but but battery performance is about the same.
I have also been advised that battery performance (as in better than ever), among other things works best with a clean install, not the upgrade. Since I did a factory reset before taking the upgrade, I wonder if this is equivalent to a clean install, or if the clean install would still be worth my effort. If it's the latter, there is only one resource for clean install files which I have been referred to, which cannot help me because I don't have an XP machine available (I did try it on Windows 7). If a clean install is, in any case, the best option, are there any Win7 installation files available for Froyo?
