My company's exchange server is similar to mail.company.com/exchange, but when I put in that address, it removes the "/exchange" and it gives me an error saying "Unable to open connection to server". Is there a way around this, or am I stuck without the ability to sync my work email?

i recently brought the xperia x10 and i can not add my hotmail account it keeps coming up with unable to open connection to the server. i was able to add my gmail account though.

I have exchange set up on my Droid through the email program that comes with the phone.. Its been working fine until this weekend, really. 3 separate times, it's failed to load my inbox or sync new messages, and it pops up with the unable to open connection to server message.Ive quadruple checked all of my settings, removed my account, re-added my account, refreshed it, and still, it wont sync my inbox and it still shows that message. I even tried installing touchdown, and touchdown wouldnt sync my email either? I didnt like how it kept my contacts all separate from my gmail contacts, so I went ahead and uninstalled it. I REALLY just want to use the regular exchange email program..But get this, I am able to sync my sent mail though, and Im able to SEND email messages, just not receive them.
We have our own exchange server for our company, and we have 4 other people in our office running exchange on their phones, (2 Motorola Droids, 1 Droid X, and an HTC 6800...) Nobody else is having issues with their phones syncing their email so I know this isnt an exchange issue, but a phone issue instead.Ive run an update (just the *228) on my phone, reset it like 3 times, killed all the apps, and it still wont sync my inbox (just my sent mail..) And again, it'll send email but wont receive it.I know calling or going into a verizon store will be a waste of time.
"Unable to open connection to server." That's the message I'm getting from my Droid every time I try to set up a connection to my web hosts SMTP server using IMAP. The settings I put in the Droid work fine on my laptop and on my blackberry.
I've tries using ports 25, 1025, 465 and 587. I even tried 143 and 585. Anyone have any clue why this is happening? Anyone else having trouble with SMTP/IMAP connections to their email server? Right now I can't send emails from the Droid and that's a HUGE problem.
I got my Incredible on April 29th and setup my Exchange email account and was able to send and receive with no problems. Contacts and calendar synced with no problems. Everything was fine for about a week then I noticed I was no longer receiving emails. I could send with no problems and contacts and calendar still synced ok, I just could not get emails using wither WiFi or Verizon's network. I went into the account settings and activesync settings and see an error message that said "error occurred on the computer running the exchange server". Deleting and recreating the account on the Incredible seems to work, but for only about 7-10 days then right back in the same boat. I do not think the phone is the issue as I had a Droid and had the almost identical problem.
On the Droid I did not see the error message but I would stop receiving emails after about a week. I have tried Touchdown and it's almost the same issue, except that the error is something along the lines of "mail queued on the server". Again, removing and reinstalling the account in Touchdown resolves the issue for about another week. I called our corp help desk folks and it was a wasted phone call. All I got from them was we don't support mobile devices via activesync and wouldn't talk about it anymore, so I am leaning toward something on our mail server causing the issue. My only problem with that answer is that we also have other users here with iPhones and Windows mobile devices and they are not having any problems, and they are also connected via activesync.
so I've been using email for a while now, gmail account, today its telling me "unable to open connection to server" and I don't think I changed any settings, any idea what's going on?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded K9, having read on here what a good email program it is. I can't get the thing to work with my Yahoo.co.uk account. It's Pop 3. The account works ok with the standard HTC email program, but when I try to set it up using K9, I get "Setup could not finish Cannot connect to server (Unable to open connection to POP server)." I've googled it, I tried setting it up without using wifi, and tried changing settings to IMAP and port numbers, but just can't get anywhere with it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have searched all over. Moxier seems to work great for those that can get it to work. I am trying to get it to work with my personal email account on roadrunner. Regardless of what servers/settings I use, it still says to provide detailed server information.Anyone have any luck setting this up? I don't want to pay for an exchange program as the entire reason I went from a Centro to Moment was to be able to push emails and contacts back to Outlook. Can anyone help? I don't want to trade this back under the 30 day program as I don't know if the Pre will work or not. I don't know of any other phones that have the features this one does.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the Samsung fascinate which runs android 2.1 (eria) and found online before i bought it that the phone could support 2 exchange server emails. i have set up my first email through the setup and selected exchange as the server. now the problem arises, when i go into link up my other exchange email account i enter in the info then click automatic setup, it brings me to manual setup automatically everytime and wont allow me to select exchange as the server. it only gives me the options of imap and pop3, neither of these thus far will work and link my second email, i called my it dept and got the port numbers and all that when entering them into the imap and pop3 setup but it will not work. is there anyway around this or how do i setup to exchange server emails on this device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Incredible running 2.1 when it was first released, setup my Exchange ActiveSync account, and noticed that my only option under Mail Size Limit is to download Headers Only. This got annoying very quickly, as I have to click 'Get Remaining' on every single email, regardless of the size. I researched this issue when the phone first came out and came up with nothing on it, and two other guys at work with the Droid Eris on 1.5 don't have this issue, they get the full range of size options to download.
Fast forward to today, one of the guys with the Eris installed the update to Android 2.1, and now he has the exact same problem I do. When I saw his issue, I started to research it again now that a month or so has passed, but I still can't seem to find any documentation or reports of similar issues.
Anybody else see this behavior with 2.1 + Exchange? I can't see it being a problem server-side since it works under 1.5, but my phone can download the whole message if I setup a regular POP account.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 2 gmail accounts. Unfortunately, one of them is for my calendar and contacts and the other is for my personal e-mail. As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. I know this is confusing but i dont know how else to explian it.

I am sure it has to do with a certificate (Equifax one).At work when I get it on the wifi it makes me install a certificate and it will be on exchange fine, actually thats how i set it up. But one cell data or anything else it won't sync.On 2.1 it synced fine.

Is VLC Setup Helper supposed to be open on the computer to establish a connection with my phone? When I'm playing a file in VLC, and open up the phone's app, it won't connect until I open up "VLC Setup Helper". It just seems a hassle to always remember to open up VLC Setup Helper all the time.
Been reading hotmail is now available to be setup as an exchange account. I've been readying have successfully been able to setup their droid phones this way but heard EVO users were having difficulties. I was not able to sync with the hotmail exchange account and wanted to see if any other Evo users have been successful.

I am looking for a way to automate my Android phone connecting to an SSH server when the phone connects to an unsecured wifi network. My understanding is that this is adequate to keep my traffic from being sniffed by DroidSheep (Android), FireSheep (Windows), or other packet sniffers.

I am just wondering if anyone else is having an issue when trying to connect to Google? I have had zero luck since I purchased the phone yesterday. Signing in... Your phone is communicating with Google servers and setting up your account. This may take up to five minutes. Then two minutes into it the screen goes blank and I get this message: Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care.
Well, after 2 calls to customers care I am still getting the same error. I have full internet access, data capability and even setup my gmail account as the email to use. I can send and receive email/sms/mms, calls, etc... Anyone else have something for me to try before returning the phone to Sprint? (it was purchased at BB).
I'm having trouble sending emails with my pop email account (cox communications). I receive emails fine. However, I get a message stating "unable to send email." I tried deleting and setting up the account again. It seems to accept the pop/outgoing information. However, I get a message after submitting the SMTP information stating "unable to connect to the mail server, server not responding." Is there another email program I could try?

I have attempted all three of these things, but I still can't add my gmail account. The "Can't connect to server" message still pops, even when trying to sign in through the YouTube app.
I am trying to set up an exchange server on a customers Motorola droid that they had purchased from us the other day, he brought in the HTTPS URL as well as his username and password, but when I put it in it gets hung up on authenticating the incoming server information it always comes back with unable to connect to incoming server. when i put the info into my web browser on my laptop I am able to connect fine.

I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.
