Does anyone know of a 3rd party app that can be used to search the stock email program on the Droid? Through research have found that it is not possible within the app itself, but was not sure if anyone know of an app that allows you to search by recipient, size, date, etc? Coming from a blackberry, that is one of my most missed features.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using the stock HTC e-mail program on my Droid Incredible to access my Gmail account. Up until recently, I would get a single notification for each new e-mail message that came in. Now when I get a notification that an e-mail has come in I get a follow-up notification every five minutes or so until I open my e-mail program. This started happening even though I didn't change any settings. I have been unable to find a setting either in HTC's e-mail or in Gmail to undo this. I think, but am not sure, that this started up when I upgraded to 2.3.4.

Without having to backup the entire data partition, is there a program that will backup 'private' applications. For example, I am using Astro File Manager. When I go to Application Manager/Backup, some programs are listed as private so I can't select them to backup.

Some people say that the only way to get push notifications is to use the gmail app or a 3rd party app, and some people say you can use the stock HTC app and set things up through Exchange. Then some more people say that even setting it up through Exchange is a "pull" account as well, not push.However, what I don't see is hard core proof to back any of this up. I would imagine that there is documentation out there somewhere of what exactly is driving the email collection in the HTC Sense email app, and whether or not it is different for Exchange accounts.
I have a Galaxy Nexus with Stock 4.0.4 ROM and a Transformer Prime also with the stock ASUS firmware (4.0.3), The company where I work has a mail server that supports exchange (Kerio Connect) At that server I have (because I need it that way) 2 different accounts, I need one of those accounts to synchronize everything; contacts, mail, calendar, and the other one to synchronize only calendar appointments.
If I configure the first account everything works just fine. But, when I configure the second account, I start receiving login errors for both accounts every certain time, the apps shows me the option to update my account credentials and when I do it works for the moment but after a while it fails again. If I delete whichever of the two accounts the other works fine.
I have not tested this scenario against other email servers, so I'm not sure if this a problem with my server or if this is an Android problem.
Both accounts are configured as Exchange accounts from Settings menu.
I have never been able to sync past calendar events using the stock 2.1 Exchange (Outlook) sync. I only get past events for the last month. Yes, I have "sync all events" turned on. Any calendar event older than 30 days will not display or sync.
I spent 1.5 hours with Motorolla tech support today (live chat) trying to solve this to no avail. The tech said the problem is on my company's Exchange server. I said the bug is in Android 2.1. Example: my iPod touch syncs everything with the Exchange server including past events.
Just now I installed Touchdown on my Droid X. Everything sync'ed - all events, past, present and future. They display nicely in the Touchdown calendar display.
These past events still will not display in any of the stock calendars.
I just updated to 2.2 (Sapphire1.0.0) from the Sapphire 0.8.4. Everything is cool, except my work email which is an exchange account wants to give my email server a bunch of security permissions I am not comfortable with. Has anyone else had this issue, and is there a "work around" for it?

I could not get Touchdown to work either until I discovered my Microsoft ISA server, in front of my Exchange 2003 server, was not setup right. Once I got that setup ISA Server 2004: Supporting Both Basic and Forms-based Authentication with a Single External IP Address and Web Listener (v1.1) the sync started working greatThe benefits of Touchdown are immense and I am no longer interested in Froyo handling of Exchange email. I am an IT guy and will recommend this program to all my android folks.

That doesn't make any sense to me and defeats the purpose of having corporate contacts. How do I make sure my exchange email account shows up as one of the options?

I do not see a way to sort my inbox by "From" to group those emails together. I got spoiled on my BB Storm being able to touch and hold the sender and it would sort all emails. Is there a way to do this on the Droid?
Also, when I go into my "Sent" folder, all emails are shown by the person that the emails are from, which is ME, impossible to see who I sent the email to and have to look at the subject and open the email to have any idea about the content. There's got to be a way to change this to view by who the email was sent to, which is usually what you're looking for anyway.
When i setup my email signature the address ends up being sent in the email as a hyperlink.But if the recipient clicks it it is an invalid link.Im on exchange 2007.Anyone else have this issue?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid X that is upgraded to 2.2 but I noticed this weekend that I didn't receive emails on Saturday until I pinged the server on Sunday night. When I was on 2.1 this wasn't an issue and I'm noticing now it is.
Settings right now are:
Data Delivery:
1. Background data is OFF
2. Email and Corp Sync: Data Push
Battery Manager:
1. Now in Performance mode, I turned off Custom this morning.
I might have solved my own problem by changing to "Performance Mode".
Haven't done the update yet. I'm not just talking about text sigs, but .jpg also. This has always been an irritation that I counldn't have my .jpg sig when sending from my phone.

My company requires PIN locking and remote wipe in order to sync, but it seems nearly impossible to find out of this is a supported feature within 2.0. Has anyone tried this with a similar set of Exchange policies that may have tested 2.0 or the Droid itself?

I can't turn this off and following the notification does nothing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my first Android phone, a Droid 2.I previously had the original BlackBerry Storm which when I first got it I loved but after a very short time I came to hate for it's crappy interfaces terrible performance and so on. But one thing that it did very well was work with my corporate exchange email.I use rules to move new email from the inbox to folders that really help me to keep my email organized, which is very important since I get 200-300 emails on a normal day and many more when there are emergencies at work. As each was moved to the appropriate folder I would get my notification on my BB and could go read the mail. However now that I am using Froyo, I find that it can see all of my emails and shows the correct folders and so forth but I only get notifications for email that is in the inbox. This does not work well especially when I have a customer emailing me with an emergency.
Is there a way to setup my rules so that they wait for 6 hours (or whatever time I select) before they are moved to one of the other folders so that I can still get my notifications on my Droid 2 but still keep the mailbox relatively organized?I hate the idea of running the rule manually because Outlook requires you to select each one individually and since I have about 50 rules this is a hassle, another option would be to make the rules Client Side only but I cannot seem to find a way to do this either so if anybody can give me instructions on this that would be great.Of course if you have a way that you use for this that works better please let me know as I am open to suggestions, these are just the options that I have come up on my own.
I've unrooted from Bugless Beast v.4 to a stock 2.1 via How To: Unroot the Motorola Droid | TheUnlockr. So basically I used RSDLite and did the steps listed on that site. I used their .sbf file as well. Everything seems to work except one thing. I cant update or install Facebook, Maps, and Goggles. If you look at the comments in that link, you'll see that a couple of people have the same issue. It says "installation error". "Package file not signed correctly".
I unrooted because I need to send my phone in for a replacement and I'm not trying to void my warranty. When I go into about phone it says:

Since upgrading to 2.2, I had to remove and re-add my Exchange email account to get rid of the required security code input (as most users have). Since doing this, even with it set to Push, and to default to Fetch every 15 min if Push is not available, I have to manually hit Refresh to retrieve new email. This is also happening with a co-worker's DroidX, but not with another co-worker's phone, which is a different model.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I had 2 versions of Gallery and Music Player when I was running 2.0.1 and downloaded the apk's for the 2.1 Gallery and Music apps. When I upgraded to 2.1 OS I figured the 2.0 apps would be wiped out. It appears that they have until you look deeper. I have only one icon for the stock music app but noticed that when I press the button on my headset it would start and pause music other than what was qeued in the music app.
When I go to 'manage apps' I have 2 music apps listed (both say ver 7). One is 580kb and the other 4kb, giving the impression that the 4kb version is nothing really, but there are definately two versions running at times hence the whole 2 different songs playing at once deal when I press the headset button. I'm reluctant to try deleting anything as I am not sure how I can verify that any of the files floating around right now for the music application are the current version and don't wanna complicate life if I delete something that causes a problem.
I lost all my applications which I guess is ok because I only paid for two. My questions is can I totally wipe my sdcard to get it back to stock as well? It has a bunch of stuff from my 2.1 before I wiped it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince the gmail app is facing sync issues, I have decided to switch to the stock email app that droid X has. The only problem with it is that it doesn't combine the similar conversations like gmail does, so if you have 8 emails exchanged with someone, it will show as 8 different messages rather than just one which is the case with gmail. Does anyone know how to fix this? I checked the settings but couldn't find anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving serious issues setting up Google Apps corporate email on my DX. POP and SMTP settings, email add, password all checked and rechecked for accuracy. Still no dice. Am being told by Google Apps support that I need to hard reset the device, setup corporate Google Apps email first, and then reinstall and re-setup everything else. This seems like a hail mary approach to me, and one that I'm still not sure is going to work.
