I'm not sure why, but ever since I set up my exchange email account on my motorola droid, it constantly prompts me to "Update Security Settings" in the notification bar and makes an obnoxious beeping sound. I can't turn this off and following the notification does nothing.

My company is upgrading to exchange 2010 (from 2003) and ever since I moved my mailbox to 2010, every time I reboot I get a notification prompt to "Update Security Settings". This happens every time I reboot no matter how many times I accept it. I've tried deleting and re-adding the account, and it continues to come back every time I reboot.
The annoying part is that it doesn't seem to sync properly until a few minutes AFTER I've accepted these changes. It doesn't seem like this should be happening.
I have a co-worker using an iPhone 5 giving me greef for this not working on my phone so i need to get this worked out lol.
I have a Galaxy Nexus running JB (4.1.1) . For a while my exchange email worked fine. However now, it will not sync. I attempted to reset up the account, however the "Exchange requires security settings update" message that we are suppose to get at the end of the setup (which appears the first time) does not re-appear on any inital setups.
One of our faculity (i work at a university) has this same phone and had issues with it when she upgraded. It was only after a hard reset of the phone did the message appear, which we then accepted and it started syncing the mail as it should.
I really don't want to reset my phone, so is there a way to "reset" the security settings so that it prompts me, or someplace i can go to enable it to get my email to work?
I use nexus one, otherwise known as a google phone, and just got the 2.2.1 update. Upon updating I got a request for a security update for the Email app. It wants to be able to:
1. Erase all data (perform a factory reset, deleting all of your data without any confirmation)
2. Limit password (reset the types of passwords you are allowed to use)
3. Watch login attempts (monitor failed attempts to login to the device, to perform some action)
4. Force Lock (control when the device locks, requiring you re-enter its password)
Call me paranoid, but this, especially no.1 seems suspect. Why would an email client need this extreme set of privileges? My spidey sense is pinging louder than a gaydar next to a drag queen. Can anyone confirm if this is a legit update or if I just downloaded a trojan horse of some sort?
Like many other people, I have the issue where I cannot connect to my exchange e-mail because of security settings. I was able to resolve the issue the first time by using Lockpicker. I had to reset my phone, root, and install fresh rom again. Now I am trying to use lockpicker again, but it doesn't work anymore. I have tried everything I can think of and have searched extensively. Touchdown can connect, but there is no way I am paying for that when I was able to get the stock email app working the first time.

It always worked fine before but now it keeps saying we need to update our security settings. When you click it though it just disappears and then comes back later. It receives e-mails fine, but Outlook doesn't want to send e-mails anymore for some reason.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did the manual OTA update to 2.1 and once I re-setup my exchange account it enforced the security policy (no surprise there thank god for LockPicker!). The Pattern Unlock stayed as well. So I would have to pattern unlock THEN input the 4 digit alphanumeric (major PITA) So after installing lockpicker I only had to pattern unlock - no problem.
Well I've had the dreaded "no-audio" bug a couple times since upgrading so I decided to try a hard reset before pursuing a warranty replacement. This time I did the same thing, setup my Exchange account and installed LockPicker. Now I do NOT have the pattern unlock. Under Security -> Screen Unlock Pattern I only have "Change Unlock Password" and there doesn't appear to be any way to enable the Pattern unlock.
Here is where it gets interesting. My friend has an Eris as well, is on the same exchange server and got 2.1. He is in the same boat that I was PRE 2.1 upgrade where he has the pattern unlock AND the password (I hipped him to LockPicker) and is now where I was with only the Pattern Unlock. Under his Security -> Screen unlock it is the same as mine, with only "Change Unlock Password".
Now not have the pattern unlock is not the end of the world, I just liked having that small bit of security...just curious if anyone can find a way, short of another hard reset, to get Pattern Unlock back. I'm guessing that the issue is that I didn't enable pattern unlock before setting up Exchange and allowing it to enforce that security policy.
I just updated to 2.2 (Sapphire1.0.0) from the Sapphire 0.8.4. Everything is cool, except my work email which is an exchange account wants to give my email server a bunch of security permissions I am not comfortable with. Has anyone else had this issue, and is there a "work around" for it?

I could not get Touchdown to work either until I discovered my Microsoft ISA server, in front of my Exchange 2003 server, was not setup right. Once I got that setup ISA Server 2004: Supporting Both Basic and Forms-based Authentication with a Single External IP Address and Web Listener (v1.1) the sync started working greatThe benefits of Touchdown are immense and I am no longer interested in Froyo handling of Exchange email. I am an IT guy and will recommend this program to all my android folks.

That doesn't make any sense to me and defeats the purpose of having corporate contacts. How do I make sure my exchange email account shows up as one of the options?

I do not see a way to sort my inbox by "From" to group those emails together. I got spoiled on my BB Storm being able to touch and hold the sender and it would sort all emails. Is there a way to do this on the Droid?
Also, when I go into my "Sent" folder, all emails are shown by the person that the emails are from, which is ME, impossible to see who I sent the email to and have to look at the subject and open the email to have any idea about the content. There's got to be a way to change this to view by who the email was sent to, which is usually what you're looking for anyway.
When i setup my email signature the address ends up being sent in the email as a hyperlink.But if the recipient clicks it it is an invalid link.Im on exchange 2007.Anyone else have this issue?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid X that is upgraded to 2.2 but I noticed this weekend that I didn't receive emails on Saturday until I pinged the server on Sunday night. When I was on 2.1 this wasn't an issue and I'm noticing now it is.
Settings right now are:
Data Delivery:
1. Background data is OFF
2. Email and Corp Sync: Data Push
Battery Manager:
1. Now in Performance mode, I turned off Custom this morning.
I might have solved my own problem by changing to "Performance Mode".
Haven't done the update yet. I'm not just talking about text sigs, but .jpg also. This has always been an irritation that I counldn't have my .jpg sig when sending from my phone.

My company requires PIN locking and remote wipe in order to sync, but it seems nearly impossible to find out of this is a supported feature within 2.0. Has anyone tried this with a similar set of Exchange policies that may have tested 2.0 or the Droid itself?

Even when I try to refresh my corporate email doesn't update. I have it set on Push, so the email should automatically flush into my inbox. I have two other gmail accounts synced to the SF and they work fine.

Since the Froyo update I've had every Droid Incredible phone(the only droids at our facility) have this same exact issue. The phones will just randomly stop getting emails. But once the user goes into "Email" it refreshes itself and they started getting all of their emails. I even tried a different email app to see if there was something that at least worked. "Improved Email" seemed to do the trick until that too stopped getting emails all of a sudden too and the only way to reset that is to reboot the phone, and then all of the emails will come through on boot up. I am at a loss as to what is causing this. All of our other smart phones(non droid phones) are running fine. It seems as soon as the Froyo update hit these phones, email has been a struggle since.

Using TouchDown it will sync the calendar but not the mail.Tried switching auto sync data on and off, deleting and reinstating account, restarting phone - in various combinations nothing works.
When I was setting up an additional account this morning it asked me how often do I want it to check for new mail. I chose every hour but I now want to change it to something else and I have searched the settings and cannot find that option anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find that option?

If i go to security, there's an option under security called Change screen lock. I go to that, but the option for None and Pattern are both grayed out saying Disabled by remote phone administrator. what is that all about and how do I get rid of this? It's annoying and I don't need it.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI just got my first Android phone, a Droid 2.I previously had the original BlackBerry Storm which when I first got it I loved but after a very short time I came to hate for it's crappy interfaces terrible performance and so on. But one thing that it did very well was work with my corporate exchange email.I use rules to move new email from the inbox to folders that really help me to keep my email organized, which is very important since I get 200-300 emails on a normal day and many more when there are emergencies at work. As each was moved to the appropriate folder I would get my notification on my BB and could go read the mail. However now that I am using Froyo, I find that it can see all of my emails and shows the correct folders and so forth but I only get notifications for email that is in the inbox. This does not work well especially when I have a customer emailing me with an emergency.
Is there a way to setup my rules so that they wait for 6 hours (or whatever time I select) before they are moved to one of the other folders so that I can still get my notifications on my Droid 2 but still keep the mailbox relatively organized?I hate the idea of running the rule manually because Outlook requires you to select each one individually and since I have about 50 rules this is a hassle, another option would be to make the rules Client Side only but I cannot seem to find a way to do this either so if anybody can give me instructions on this that would be great.Of course if you have a way that you use for this that works better please let me know as I am open to suggestions, these are just the options that I have come up on my own.
Since upgrading to 2.2, I had to remove and re-add my Exchange email account to get rid of the required security code input (as most users have). Since doing this, even with it set to Push, and to default to Fetch every 15 min if Push is not available, I have to manually hit Refresh to retrieve new email. This is also happening with a co-worker's DroidX, but not with another co-worker's phone, which is a different model.

Corporate Outlook/Exchange Sync - Push
I called and spoke with a tech at Motorola and said with the next OTA for the Droid 2 (which just happened) it was supposed to fix it, however it didn't. Does anyone on the inside have any insight as to what's going on? I'm back to using Improved Email for instant push delivery of my Exchange messages.
I did get the OTA the other day, and the version number did change, but nothing of significance.
Really starting to get pissed with this phone with I mostly use it for my job and e-mail. I shouldn't have to rely on a third party application for delivery of my e-mail. G-Mail works fine, but Exchange works about 5% of the time without me having to go in a do a manual refresh...then 10-20 messages pop up.

Ever since 2.1 OTA I can't get my sync settings to stick.I want it to push items as they arrive. I check that box, but when I exit out, it goes back to manual. I've tried changing this in the email settings and in the main sync settings.This is driving me crazy- I keep missing my work emails!Also- I have never figured out how to get my vibrating notifications back after the OTA. If my ringer is on vibrate, the only notification I have that an item arrived is my LED.Finally- has anyone found the fix to the multiple notification email bug? I still get 3-4 notifications for one email when my ringer is on ring.

I've been trying a number of roms, but can't get any of them to connect to my work exchange account which is a dealbreaker for me. I thought 2.1 added the password unlock feature, but all the roms are saying "Exchange ActiveSync server requires security features your phone does not support" and I believe they've all been 2.1. What am I doing wrong?

Strange, I thought but I set one up and it turns out to be the ScreenLock password. Usually the phone asks for a pattern to be drawn to unlock it etc etc now I have to put in the password I was asked to set up instead. When I go into the phone security settings I cannot disable the password or change it back to the pattern method...? I prefer the pattern method as it's much easier to input than the little keyboard to put in password, and I can turn it off when I'm at home.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Milestone (aka Droid). I've managed to set up my Milestone to sync my work contacts and calandar via exchange. However, I cannot get my email for some reason - and there's no error message to point me in the right direction. I've tried sending emails too, and that doesn't work. They just sit in my outbox, no matter how many times I refresh. Obviously, I've tried all the obvious things - double checked my settings (which must be ok, given my Calander and Contacts synced, plus I can get to the global address book). I've tried to refresh the mailbox, but nothing happens. When I go to 'Accounts' there is an orange line next to my work account, which perhaps means something is wrong. I wondered if it's perhaps my work's firewall blocking me but again, if I can get into my calander and contacts.
