Motorola Droid X :: Search Button Won't Search From Homescreen
Nov 15, 2010Before, when I pressed the search button (the one with the magnifying glass) it cued up the google search bar. Now, after theming, the search button does nothing from the homescreen, but does still work while in applications, the browser, the market, etc. I am running launcher pro, deodexed w/ revolution.

Nov 7, 2010I couldn't find anything on this so here we go.We all have the hard button for "Search".is it possible to have it search EVERYTHING but not give you Google suggestions first? (I can uncheck Google in the settings, but I want those suggestions as well, just not to clutter the top of the search) Let's say I want to find a Pizza place down the street from me.It's very possible it's already in my contacts, so when I type in "Johnny G's", I'd rather see any possible contacts first, and google searches after.But instead I get all google and youtube suggestions first and have to scroll through a long list to see if the contact is in my phone.This is the same for Songs and Artists as well.ALSO, anybody have a problem using the search button in Landscape?I type in something, then hit the back button to drop the keyboard, and it returns me back to the home screen.This works for dropping the keyboard in text messages because it's quicker than Holding the menu button.

Aug 2, 2010When the phone is locked, but the screen is on, if you hold down the search button for a couple of seconds and then say something, the voice search will run. when you unlock the phone, you will see the results. when the screen is off however, it doesn't work. it only happens with the screen on and the phone locked. i thought that none of the buttons should work when the phone is locked?

Jul 23, 2010I wanted to put this in the droid X section because the default way of searching contacts is horrible. I installed gesture search last night and now one of my few gripes with the phone is solved. I hated having to having to hold the options button to bring up a keyboard and then having to clear my last entry to start another search.

Jun 24, 2010I have a question regarding a feature that just seemed to disappear from Handcent SMS.
Before, when I composed a message in the app or using quick compose (long press search button), there would be a drop down list of possible choices when I began typing in the "To:" field. For example, if I typed "k", it would show names beginning with "k". But now the feature is gone and it really sucks when I want to compose a text.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is it Handcent's problem or a software problem (v2.1 bug?), and does anyone know how to fix it?

Oct 10, 2010I just installed the latest DialerOne (1.2.7.1) from the Market and find that the new simultaneous search of the call log and contacts is annoying in that it places call log entries at the top of the list, and tapping on them brings up the call history for that contact instead of listing their numbers so you can choose one to dial. I don't see any way to turn this off.Am I missing something?It would seem natural to have the ability to limit the search to the screen presented (search only the call log when the call log is displayed, or search only the contacts when contacts are displayed), but I have Dialer One display the call log by default, so that I can quickly call a recently called contact, or just start dialing to search, so this wouldn't work for me either.I would much rather go back to the way it used to be. Of course, I figured I didn't need to backup the previous version because after all, what could change? Now I have this, and the coloring of the digits on the keypad is weird, even after adjusting it as much as possible.

I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.

Sep 29, 2010I've had my Captivate for a few weeks now. I've noticed since day one that the search button 'hard button' on the lower right of the phone, mysteriously 'pressed itself'. The first few times I figured I pushed it on accident with my pinky or something. That Is Not The Case. I know I'm not going crazy but every once in awhile, the hard button lights will go on and the vibrate (I have vibrate set to on) will go on and the search will pop up. All on it's own. This happens at least 5 times a day. If not more. It doesn't do it on any one specific page, it does it no matter what I'm doing on my phone. Sometimes I'll literally watch it just laying in my hand when my phone is on and the search will pop up.
