In the past there was a "do not save searches" setting you could select in preferences, but it doesn't exist now. Aug 15, 2012Why doesn't autocorrect work/appear when I'm typing in my browser (Chrome or Default) and also, more annoyingly, when I'm typing in Google Now search?
I have tried this with both the android keyboard and with Swiftkey 3 (which I use normally). I have read in a couple of other forums that the problem was fixed in an ICS minor point update but I did not find that to be the case. In fact, I'm now running a (relatively) stock JB ROM and it's still a problem.
Of note: autocorrect would appear on the old google search before I got Google Now...

With Jellybean comes Google Now, the Android equivalent of Siri. I have been experimenting with this and have discovered that despite my Google account settings being set to safe search filter off, and that I have turned off the Block Offensive Words option in settings, Google Now filters things by default.
For example, if I say 'Images of Large Hadron Collider' Google Now will duly serve me image results as requested, but if for example I say 'Images of furious sweaty butt sex' it just provides me with a web search and I subsequently have to select images myself. Even when I do, it takes me through to images that have quite clearly been filtered. Not only this, but if I were to request images of something where there were mixed images of clean and not so clean, it would only serve me up the filtered pics.
So my question; is there a way to turn off the safe search elements so that my internet can be delivered to me as I wish, or do I have to put up with Google not showing me what I have requested? (which isn't furious sweaty butt sex)

General :: How To Disable Google Now
Oct 3, 2013I've recently switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy 4. While there are a few issues in adjusting, one major annoyance I am finding is something called 'Google Now' popping up wanting setup. Frankly I'm sick of this doing so and want it to go away, but I don't know how. I've disabled Google notifications and push, but it still keeps coming up - it just seems random with no pattern as to what I am using or doing. I can't delete it because it's not in Apps. There seems to be nothing about how to get rid of it on the 'net unless it's installed - which it's not.
I throw this phone into a wall. I'm loving 90% of it, except for all the maddening and idiotic notifications, prompts, and insistence to install useless rubbish I don't want... such as Google Now.

Apr 4, 2013This has been a rather annoying issue for quite a while. Whenever I use the commands like "Listen to (Artist or Song)" or "Play (Artist or Song)" it never seems to recognize it. Instead it just does web search of what I said, I'm not sure where the problem is in it though. I have Poweramp and Play Music installed with plenty of music on file.

Jan 24, 2013I just got a Galaxy S3 yesterday and the first time I turned it on I used my work wifi connection. This operates via a proxy which makes any website think I'm in another country (varies from country to country depending which server has the least load).
Unfortunately, now whenever I do a Google search it defaults to google.de. I only connected to the work wifi when I turned it on, since then I've been acessing at home or using my 3G connection. I live in England so this is very annoying.
Is there any way I can stop Google going to the German site? I tried clearing everything in the browser but this didn't work.
Bit of further info: If I go to Settings > Google > Search, there is a tick-box that says "Search on google.com" and underneath that it says "Using www.google.com instead of your local domain (www.google.de)".
There has to be a way of changing that setting, surely!
General :: Can Change Voice Search To Celsius Without Using Google Now?
Dec 7, 2012I know I can change the Google Now card settings to celcius and it also changes the voice search. But I don't want to use Google Now since I have no good use for it and on my leaked firmware it is a battery drainer.
When I disable Google Now after making the change to celcius it resets all card settings to default and the voice search goes back also.
