I am always changing the volume accidentaly, especially while I am streaming Pandora or slacker when my screen is locked. Also I keep accidentaly turning my ringer down. Is there a way to totally disable the volume buttons or at least make them less annoying?

I searched for and found a thread from back in 2009 with no answer to this question. I'm hoping something may have changed since then. Basically I don't want the volume keys to work at all when the phone is locked. My volume is always lower when the phone comes out of my pocket than it was when I put it in.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wondering, on 1.5, the Ringer/Alerts volume was locked together so however loud the Ringer volume was, the notification volume would be the same. Since upgrading to 2.1 OTA, they are no longer linked together. Is there any way I can link them back together so they are they same volume without having to individually change each one? It's kind of annoying when I set my Ringer volume to low, and all of the sudden I get a text and it's almost 3 times as loud.

I knew the button was broken when I bought it and I didn't really care for a while, but tonight when I was trying to fiddle with it, I accidentally popped it out. Is it worth opening the phone to try to solder it back on?Also, how do I navigate through the recovery menu without a volume down button?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen the phone is locked, but the screen is on, if you hold down the search button for a couple of seconds and then say something, the voice search will run. when you unlock the phone, you will see the results. when the screen is off however, it doesn't work. it only happens with the screen on and the phone locked. i thought that none of the buttons should work when the phone is locked?

This would be useful when controlling my phone from my PC via Teamviewer (I already see the phone screen in my PC, so having the other one ON is pointless) or when wanting to listen to some music coming from a video.
Since the 2.1 OTA update, my Droid Eris has been a little slower and little buggy. Which I'm not that concerned about. But today, I cannot drag down to unlock my screen. When I hit menu, it does nothing. Is there another way to shut down the phone when you cannot unlock the screen?
'Sorry if this is an utter newb question, but I think if I can power down an restart the phone, I may be able to unlock my screen.

The screen says "slide to unlock the phone and answer the call" but if I want the call to go to voicemail I Have to let it keep ringing. also how do I get music from Itunes into the Eris?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI listen to Slacker Radio a lot and I noticed that even though my screen will be locked, the volume rocker on the side of the phone will still be active to change the volume for the music. I'm kinda on the fence about whether I like this or not (sometimes it's annoying to unlock the screen just to change the volume by a notch or two, but I also don't want to change the volume by accident when it's in my pocket), but either way, is it supposed to be like this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried AutoLock and LockBot and maybe I didn't set an option correctly, but I can't seem to get a password or pattern unlock after a reboot/power off/on cycle.Both work fine during normal power on operations, but when I power cycle the phone it just comes up with the normal swipe unlock right into an open Eris with no password/pattern required. Kind of defeats the purpose by allow a bypass of the security.Maybe I'm missing something here or having a Homer moment.

He is now attempting to flash nonsensycal 8.2 Black. Well he downloaded the rom but when he tries to power up the phone using volume up it just boots up regular. He doesn't get the options for Nand Backup Reboot Flash etc. Volume down works but he gets a different set of menu items.

The only issue I have is I keep bumping the volume buttons. Why don't they have an option to Lock the volume by pushing both buttons at one time? Push both of item again and but unlocks the volume.

I made a mp3 as my text message tone...its only 6 or 7 seconds long..but, the problem I am encountering is that when my phone is idle and my text message tone goes off upon receipt of a new text...I am finding myself using the unlock button to awaken the phone..swiping my finger on the screen to unlock the phone, and then going to the message icon to FINALLY disable the text message tone from continuing.
Is there a way for the phone to recognize that I am touching it, using the lock button on top of the phone or the volume keys..or SOMETHING other than having to actually wake, unlock, and enter the message area?
