Is there anyway to disable me having to push the unlock button on the top? My droid already has a lock on the screen the little swipe thing. I dont need two. I would rather do the swipe thing on the screen the button lock is sort of a pain the but.

After having an IPhone 4s for two years i decided to switch to a galaxy s4 to see what it was like. My first touch screen device was a cheap rubbish MID rocketchip tablet running android 1.7. Every since then and seeing my friend using his HTC wildfire and how laggy it is in things like scrolling i always though iphone was better until i got the S4, realising that with the latest android scrolling was smooth (although can still be laggy at times but rarely) and with all its customization etc i don't like iphones as much as i did but don't completely dislike them just don't think i'd go back to one. That said i do miss some of the apps that i can't get on android.
Anyway whilst i love the galaxy s4 i found what you could say in a design flaw but it's also a good design at the same time. Samsung as positioned the lock/power button on the right side of the phone. Which ok is more natural when holding the phone and other phones are the same too but i've noticed a problem although it could just be me. Whenever i play a game or use any app in landscape mode i've found myself accidently pressing the lock button so i have to make sure that i haven't placed my finger on top of it as where it's placed is natural for my fingers to hold the phone in landscape mode. As i say might just be me that can't hold it properly. Anyway i was wondering if there is a way i could disable the power button in landscape mode so that if i press it, it won't do anything. I was thinking of using tasker but doesn't seem to be away to disable buttons.

It was an awesome feature on 2.1 on the droidx... now in froyo it's gone?Am I the only person that doesn't have monkeys in my pocket accidentally activating my phone? When I turn it on, I want it on, not "ready to be unlocked".

Just makes one more thing to do to bring it up from sleeping.Guess I will see what happens with accidental screen touches.From what I see you'd have to hit the on/off button(unlikely) or the home page button(more likely) to get it to come out of resting. Screen touches do not wake it.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just got my Milestone from Telus here in Canada. When the phone powers up, two 'sliding' buttons appear. A green one on the left to unlock the phone, and another one on the right to silence it.
When holding the phone in one hand, the green unlock button is too low on the screen for a comfortable flick with the thumb. If it were on the upper third of the screen instead of the lower third, this would be much easier.
Any way to move it higher on the screen?
I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
My phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen!

View 45 Replies View RelatedReceived my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?

I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.

I really like the pattern unlock that android has, but I don't like having to both slide to unlock, then pattern unlock. Any way to disable the first slide lock only? I've searched, an found a few old threads but nothing helpful. Applications like nolock, disable both lock screens.
