In the Youtube App on Captivate:I tried to search for this song "being a dickhead's cool" , and it just won't show the search results. When I try to change the SafeSearch settings, the option is grayed out. WTF, I feel like I have an Apple phone. PS, funny song by the way.

But I don't use it, have no reason to use it, and it takes up memory. I've been to the (lack of) settings and can't find anything.I am rooted, but not familiar enough with it to know how to remove the application manually.Using a task killer works for a few minutes, but it takes less than 5 minutes to return on its own.

With Jellybean comes Google Now, the Android equivalent of Siri. I have been experimenting with this and have discovered that despite my Google account settings being set to safe search filter off, and that I have turned off the Block Offensive Words option in settings, Google Now filters things by default.
For example, if I say 'Images of Large Hadron Collider' Google Now will duly serve me image results as requested, but if for example I say 'Images of furious sweaty butt sex' it just provides me with a web search and I subsequently have to select images myself. Even when I do, it takes me through to images that have quite clearly been filtered. Not only this, but if I were to request images of something where there were mixed images of clean and not so clean, it would only serve me up the filtered pics.
So my question; is there a way to turn off the safe search elements so that my internet can be delivered to me as I wish, or do I have to put up with Google not showing me what I have requested? (which isn't furious sweaty butt sex)
I am a new android/captivate buyer. Try as I might (googled for a few hours) I could not find anything on the Captivate and it's Hd playback. My question is: Is there a way I can play Youtube HD on my Captivate via stream? (and NO I don't mean High Quality I mean straight up HD *720p*.).

So I'm an Android Newb. Just get my captivate yesterday. I got my wife one and myself one. Among the many questions I have, the most concerning is, why does my youtube app freeze, and have to be force closed, when I try to log into my account? I used my wife's and I'm able to log in no problem. The only difference is I have a few different apps then her, but the problem has occurred since I purchased the phone. Is there anyway to uninstall and reinstall this native application? I've even tried logging into someone elses app and the same thing happens!

I saw this on a Captivate at the ATT store and it didn't look like there was a way to hide it. This would definitely keep me from upgrading from my current version, 4.3.0. When I touch it, either on 3g or wifi, it tries to refresh and comes back with the same message. All of my other data-related things work. It is just this widget. I have tried removing it from the desktop and then placing it there again, and this does nothing to help either. I have rebooted the phone numerous times as well. Again, this didn't help.
is anybody else having a problem with their youtube app widget after the "gps fix" update? after the update i noticed it only had the search option (little magnifying glass) and no longer the upload video (little camcorder) button on the widget. after i add the widget and use with the phone for a little bit (sometimes for less than 5 minutes) the widget will change itself back to having the upload button option but at that point the search and upload buttons just highlight orange when i press them and then it does nothing. sometimes im able to click on the video being promoted on the widget and it will open and play but for the most part the widget is un-clickable. im not sure if it has anything to do with me downloading launcher pro but i had that on my last captivate before i exchanged it and currently my phone is all stock haven't rooted it or anything yet.

It tells me that it attempts to upload, fails right away and then attempts again in 1 min, etc and so the cycle goes.
My phone died this morning on the way to work. When I charged the battery a bit and turned it back on, it was in safe mode. I've restarted the phone multiple times and it's still in safe mode. I have also shut it down completely and then restarted it, but to no avail. AND I have removed the battery and still, nothing. How can I disable safe mode?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my Captivate for a few weeks now. I've noticed since day one that the search button 'hard button' on the lower right of the phone, mysteriously 'pressed itself'. The first few times I figured I pushed it on accident with my pinky or something. That Is Not The Case. I know I'm not going crazy but every once in awhile, the hard button lights will go on and the vibrate (I have vibrate set to on) will go on and the search will pop up. All on it's own. This happens at least 5 times a day. If not more. It doesn't do it on any one specific page, it does it no matter what I'm doing on my phone. Sometimes I'll literally watch it just laying in my hand when my phone is on and the search will pop up.

On my BB I could start typing any info associated with a contact ie. company, first name, last name, phone number and it would automatically start showing any contacts that matched as I typed. On my Captivate I can only search phone number and name. My problem is that I have so many business contacts that I often forget the people's names associated with the business' I work with. Is there a setting that I can change that would allow me to search any info I have in a contact, or is this just how the Captivate searches.

I can get email addresses out of our GAL on exchange no problem. I can't figure out how to search the company directory/GAL for phone numbers though.
Just got a captivate yesterday and coming from an Incredible so far there are some things I really like about this phone and a couple not so much. One thing I can't figure out is how to disable the default email viewer? I am getting 2 notifications every time a email comes in. I get one in my gmail launcher and another in the notification bar. The one in the notification bar takes me to the email viewer that is blue and black and is the one I want to turn off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an AT&T Captivate with a 200 MB data plan. I want to have an easy toggle switch to disable any data transfer that counts toward that 200 MB. So far I've only done mild browsing/email and navigation off wireless, yet I've already used 67 Mb in 4-5 days. Anybody else having similar experiences?
I've tried the APNDroid widget set to "Red", but when I disable Wifi, the 3G icon pops right up in the notification bar and 3G seems to work normally. I've also tried the JuiceDefender "Toggle Mobile Data" and tapped it to make it yellow "ON", and again the 3G pops up when I disable WiFi. Anybody having any luck disabling 3G? Also, it would be nice to still get push gmail, which seems like it wouldn't using much data.
I've noticed when the phone goes into standby mode (press the right power button), the 3G eventually turns off. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? I'm assuming I can't get any notifications (i.e. Instant Messenger clients, Google Voice, etc.) while the 3G is off, but not sure. I'm also assuming 3G goes into sleep mode, as when I power the phone up I don't see the 3G icon (is that assumption correct?).

That being said, I've installed handcent mms and curious, is there a way I can disable the native mms app on the phone? It's rather annoying having to delete two different sets of notices and messages.
