My soft button on the bottom right has been temperamental lately. Most of the time it works, but sometimes it is completely unresponsive. The screen above it is fine and everything else works. No separation that I notice.

After 10 years of Blackberry I made the switch to a Droid X six days ago.
Twice in the last 6 days my phone has shut down and become completely unresponsive.
The first time was the first time I powered it off. When I attempted to power it on the phone would only show me the Motorola logo and do nothing else.
A battery pull fixed it.
The second time it went dead was as I unhooked it from my computer USB...it's a PC and I "dismounted" the phone manually first...but then...nothing....
A battery pull fixed it again.
So. That's a long way of asking: is two 'dead' experiences in 6 days leading to two battery pulls normal? Should I take it back while I can?
I have a Motorola Milestone on Telus with 2.1-update1.I'm using WPA at home and WPA2 Enterprise at work. Until recently, my WiFi was working perfectly. Then I noticed that I haven't connected to WiFi in some time so I tried and failed.Options > Scan doesn't do anything. It doesn't connect. It sits there doing nothing. And the WiFi networks don't have problems. I've tested them against an HTC Dream and a Magic. Both work fine. I tried the WiFi Manager app but it doesn't have any scan results. It just shows both - the work and home WiFis - in the list. Scanning doesn't change anything.I have restarted my phone multiple times with no results.I have rooted my phone using Easy Root hoping that would help. It didn't.Anyone experiencing similar problems? Any possible workarounds?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I've searched the forum database and the internet at large and can't seem to find anyone with 'exactly' my problem. My Eve has been problematic since I got it 3 months ago. I perform at least 10 battery pulls a day to get it to 'wake up' because nothing else works. It started to get really cranky on Friday night but it continued working -- very slowly -- but I kept getting error msgs (don't ask me, can't remember!) The battery dies, so I plugged it in overnight. Since then it turns on, shows the Rogers screen, gets to the Android screen with the light scrolling across the letters, then hangs there. Twice I somehow managed to get it to a screen that said ARM11 has failed and gave me 2 options, volume down or volume up. I tried each of these once, same thing. Today it somehow got to! EMERGENCY MODE but was then completely unresponsive while showing this text.
I called Rogers and he suggested I do an update but that it would erase all my info. I was desperate and tried this, but to no avail. Did not do anything different to my phone. As I sit here typing, the Android screen is scrolling sideways, doing it's thing. Meanwhile I have no cell phone. Apparently Rogers doesn't replace it (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). They ship it on my behalf to LG who assesses and decides if they will replace or inform Rogers to inform me that it needs to be repaired, then LG charges me $30 for the assesment. Could take 2-3 weeks -- they will give me an old flip phone to use for that time. Meanwhile no discount on the monthly Data/Cell phone plan. It's kind of striking a nerve. I'm considering sending it back and buying a used iPhone 3G for $300 and if I get the Eve back, I'll sell it over the internet.
Before, when I pressed the search button (the one with the magnifying glass) it cued up the google search bar. Now, after theming, the search button does nothing from the homescreen, but does still work while in applications, the browser, the market, etc. I am running launcher pro, deodexed w/ revolution.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then the End Call button will refuse to work (it doesn't even get highlighted when pressed), usually for up to 5 seconds. As you can imagine this can make ending a conversation considerably awkward. Any ideas as to what would be causing this? I first thought it could be the proximity sensor/screen lock, but the screen would have to turn off when this is in effect, which it doesn't. I can see the screen perfectly, I just can't interact with the End Call button. Is there any other way to end calls?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Captivate for a few weeks now. I've noticed since day one that the search button 'hard button' on the lower right of the phone, mysteriously 'pressed itself'. The first few times I figured I pushed it on accident with my pinky or something. That Is Not The Case. I know I'm not going crazy but every once in awhile, the hard button lights will go on and the vibrate (I have vibrate set to on) will go on and the search will pop up. All on it's own. This happens at least 5 times a day. If not more. It doesn't do it on any one specific page, it does it no matter what I'm doing on my phone. Sometimes I'll literally watch it just laying in my hand when my phone is on and the search will pop up.

alright. Here's what i would like to know. I bought this phone just recently. And i love it. I want to find out one thing. The landscape orientation does not have the send or search button. The phone is from TIM.
I'm curious why anyone would use the Google Search box (and take up that home screen space) when all you have to do is press the magnifying glass for the same feature (and on any home screen, without having to scroll back to the widget). A long-press opens voice search, so I see no benefit in even using the widget at all.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an activity which starts with a progress bar and I do not want the progress bar to go away until the processing is done, I have set the dialog to be setCancelable(false) so now user cannot cancel it with back but there are several other situations which hides the dialog for eg pressing 'search'.On clicking of 'search' button the search box and keyboard pops up,back button hides it and shows my activity which is always in the background but the dialog is gone.I can disable the search button but ideally I would want dialog to come back when the activity comes in foreground again. Any ideas how to do it?

Its really annoying when your search results are all for American sites. The stock desire browser uses co.UK but I much prefer Dolphin HD.
