I would like to start MyActivity class when the user clicks on the search button on the handset.
Are there any strategies you can suggest for this? Any code examples would be very useful.

I am working on an application where I need to go to the next Screen form the Main Actvity when I Click on the Image Button of the Main Activity Screen. I had searched a bit on Net regarding this and found something like the OnClickListener method. I am still stuck for what exactly I want to do actually.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my Droid for almost a month now and i love it,,, but there are a couple of really annoying things that it does, and i was wondering if it was just me, or if anyone else has these problems too...
I will hit the unlock button on the top and start to do my pattern, and all the sudden, it says that i lifted my finger... and takes two tries out....
I will hit the unlock button and start my pattern and the screen will shut off like there is no activity and i will have to hit the unlock button again, and start over.
Oh and how about this, tried both handcent and stock messaging app, i regularly have periods of long delay from both receiving and sending text messages, i will be sending one text and get a text sending overload message also.... then i will have periods of sending and receiving the exact same text 10-15 times in a row.... this happens all of the time and its extremely annoying....
Is there any way, with root access, to change the search button to make it bring up the camera app instead of the search app? i have never used the search feature, nor do i plan too, however i use the camera quite a bit and would like to have instant (well, close too) access to it. *just to verify, i am talking about the hardware, led backlit, search button...obviously not the onscreen search button...just wanted to be 100% clear

After i press the button(which has an onClickListener) the application cracks and tells me on the screen of the emulator : "The application... has stopped unexpectably.Try again" and i have a "Force close", which of course closes the application.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to update my HTC Magic phone to the CyanogenMod v3.4.6 - stable, updated 6/24. This went all to plan and the phone restarted perfectly. After some playing around i noticed the screen won't auto rotate anymore on the Magic and decided to try out another rom. From the Android Build Downloads site.Now i went for the Haykuro because there was a nice how to with it. Now this went terrible wrong and the phone won't start up anymore. I tried the ION BUILD Haykuro R2 after this but now the phone keeps haning in the HTC boot up screen.
Nothing i seem to do helps. I tried using the HTC flassing your phone back to factory system image. But the HTC boot up screen keeps popping up and holding it there. Instead of the old Android logo.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to implement my own phone call handling UI. What I want to do is, if a call comes in, the incoming telephone number and a picture are displayed, and, if I press a button, the incoming call will be accepted/answered.
Sadly, the code does not work. At first, an exception is thrown if I press my answer button:
ActivityNotFoundException: No Activity found to handle Intent {act=android.intent.action.ANSWER
Then I added an entry in the AndroidManifest.xml: I run the app again, there is no exception anymore. However, I doubt the incoming call is not really accepted. Because if the press the Android's screen answer button (green button), the incoming call is accepted and a green in call icon is also displayed on the upper left corner of the emulator screen, while my app doesn't.
I also read the Phone app's source code in android source. There is method such as acceptCall() in the Phone class. But these codes seem difficult for me to use, because there are many imports declaration in the code, such as :

import com.android.internal.telephony.CallerInfo;
import com.android.internal.telephony.CallerInfoAsyncQuery;

I have this nice view that renders these menu buttons and when they click a particular button (Trapped in an onTouch event) I want to start the "clicked" activity. It seems that there from my view startActivity method is uncallable. So that leads me to believe that there is no way to do this, in which case I guess I am asking, what do I do here when I want this menu to have a view that animates drawables and can get touches to know what "button" was pressed to know what activity to start?

But it is still the same...The main problem is double/triple initialization of the application, i know that there are other means to preserve the values in resumed applications. Also it is needed that the applications stays running in background as the main functionality is the streaming of internet radio.
