On my Nexus One, when adding contacts in the phone or in Gmail, they would show up on both the phone and Gmail contacts on my PC. With my Incredible, when I add contacts in Gmail, they show up on my phone, but not vice versa. How can I add contacts to my phone so that they will become Gmail contacts?

im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
so i have gone thru everything i can find on this forum but i am at my wits end. i have been able to get my outlook contacts into my gmail account (the csv import worked reasonably well). what i don't understand is that i can view a contact in gmail and see phone numbers, address, email, etc. when i view on the G1 all i get is their email. what am i doing wrong? yes, i have gone in the "display groups" settings and tried all options. anybody else having this problem? BTW, so far i like the functionality of the starcontacts application.

I checked my phone and under the Sync settings the contacts and Gmail is checked.

Some of the pictures that are blurry are from facebook and from my pictures album. Although, not all facebook contacts come in blurry. some are perfect? This may sound like a small problem but an annoying one! Does anyone know why are how to fix this?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have all of my contacts stored as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. When I am within my own area code, I have always only dialed the last seven digits (no area code). When I do this, my Incredible doesn't recognize it as a stored contact.
I've tried storing it in different ways, xxx-xxx-xxxx, xxxxxxxxx, etc, but I do not seem to be able to make it hapen.
From what I've read, one solution is to dial the area code everytime, but who wants to do that in a local setting? Very annoying every smartphone I've ever had prior to this was able to interpret the last seven as the contact when the phone is in the default area code (and yes, mine is set to my area code).
Set up my Incredible yesterday.Everythings working well except one weird issue.It appears that it pooled ALL of the contacts exchange contacts, Facebook phone numbers/emails, and every single gmail address I've ever emailed before.When I compose a new text, and select the little person icon to find who to send it to, it brings up a list of at least 3,000 contacts.Everything from unsubscribe email addresses to craigslist to 5 different phone numbers listed for someone off Facebook.Is there anyway to prevent this or remove it? In "People" it's correct, only shows the contacts from my Exchange server and everything looks good. But going to compose a new text (or typing a new gmail email) it brings up EVERYTHING.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I'm overlooking something simple. At some point I had an option to save new contacts as a phone contact or a gmail contact. But I've lost that option. Now whenever I enter a new number in my phone I have to manually enter it into my gmail account as well. (Lets not even get into the pain in the butt Google Apps account which will NOT sync my contacts from my personal domain) What am I missing here? I've already lost one gals number that I really wanted to call when I did a factory reset and forgot to manually put it in gmail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI realize that the Incredible will bring in your Gmail contacts during phone setup so I have all of them currently organized in Gmail as Last Name First Name in the single Name field as Gmail currently doesn't have two separate fields for first and last name. Does the phone itself have fields for first and last name and if so does it make more sense to reorganize my Gmail contacts so the phone can recognize what is the first name and what is the last name?

If I want to send an email to "Jonathon Blackburn" i start typing "jonat" and a list of emails comes up like: Jonathon Blackburn <jonblack@ Jonathon Blackburn <jonathon@ But the rest of the contact info is cut off, so I do not know which email I am selecting and whether it is office of home, etc. Is there a way to change the font/setting so that it includes the entire email address and whether it is a work or home address?

However, at the first application launch, I would like to create a sort of wizard to guide the end-users through the configuration. I need to show the EditTextPreference edit dialog programatically. I, obviously, pre-ordered the DI and I'm trying to get everything in my Gmail ready so that when I get the phone I can streamline the whole setup process. What's the best way to combine contact info from My Verizon/Backup Assistant and contacts in Gmail? Should I start manually combining names, numbers, addresses, and emails in My Verizon? Is Gmail better at syncing and management or can all this be done in the phone with People? What about groups? Will those translate if I set up groups in Gmail and/or My Verizon?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Droid 2, and have been liking it, till today, when I had to manually enter a contact on the phone. I have the latest OTA upgrade.
I found two problems:
(1) Once the Name field goes beyond a certain length, Contacts just edits one entry. I did not attempt a bunch of edits to figure out where the field length trigger for this occurs. However it occurred with two different contacts I wanted to enter, "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Wake Forest" & "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Raleigh". I could start a new contact, but one would just overwrite the other when I clicked save (including the name).
(2) When you task switch with the home button to the browser with a new contact opened, with information in it, and you then switch back to the Contacts app, your new entry is gone!
I won't compare it to other phones, but I am looking a solution or a confirmation this problem has existed forever, and google doesn't plan to fix it.
For the last handful of days, I just realized my mail stopped pushing to my phone. I have to manually refresh my mail. I know I disabled my Twitter sync, since it was causing that com.bg type error but wonder why my mail is no longer being pushes. My Yahoo and Exchange seem to push fine but not gmail. Since I switched to "Home", I think my gmail push mail stopped...

When I am in SMS messaging, most of my conversations have contact names on them, but on a few, it shows only the number. The number is clearly the number listed on the contact in my contact list, but the messaging app(stock) doesnt seem to recognize it. This is weird, because in the LauncherPro Messaging widget, it shows the names correctly, but when I go into the SMS messaging app, it doesnt recognize the contact.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is what my Contacts look like in Gmail (See below). I imported phone numbers from old phone to the group "Phone Contacts" then got rid of old people and moved them to "Old Phone Contacts". I have it set to only show the 98 Phone Contacts in my contacts on the Droid. (Display Options - Only select "Phone Contacts") Then Facebook only updates those contacts. Then I tried to add a contact on the phone. New Contact --> then selected my google account to add it to. It would then add it to "My Contacts" and not a specific group. So when I go to my contacts in the phone i do not see the new contact because it is not in the "Phone Contacts" group.
See the problem? I tried to see if I could add the new contact to the group on setup of the contact. Nope. Any ideas on how best to do this? It is a real bummer.

I am new to both android and NeXus One. I have pictures for my contacts. when i place a call, the picture of that contact wont show up in the box; it has the green robot instead. when i end my call, the picture shows up for one second.. is it a software problem, or android just does it that way?
