I add a contact on my EVO and it does not show up when I log into my gmail account online from my PC. I even logged out of my account on-line - no go. What the heck am I doing wrong?
I checked my phone and under the Sync settings the contacts and Gmail is checked.

I don't get this Gmail app. It doesn't seem to sync properly with my Gmail account. First off, sometimes the main screen will show "Inbox (1)" or whatever number to indicate I have email, but there are no emails when I tap "Inbox" (but there *are* emails on the website, so they are really in my inbox). This may also be related to the label syncing options. I have them all set to "sync all" because I assume this means it will keep everything synced no matter how old it is, and if you specify a number of days, then it just syncs as far back as that many days. But this seems to cause a problem too, in that sometimes I have email on the website, but the phone isn't detecting it.
Finally, both times I've tried to send an email, it won't work. The email ends up as "sending" in the Outbox, but never gets sent. And yes there is a data connection. I see no reason why it shouldn't send immediately. I didn't expect the Gmail app, of all things, to be so problematic on an Android phone!
when clicking on a link in an email (gmail on droid), the droid doesn't follow the full link. for example, in a facebook email, the link will only go as far as my facebook homepage, and not to the actual conversation or post that the link is for.

View 3 Replies View Relatedso i have gone thru everything i can find on this forum but i am at my wits end. i have been able to get my outlook contacts into my gmail account (the csv import worked reasonably well). what i don't understand is that i can view a contact in gmail and see phone numbers, address, email, etc. when i view on the G1 all i get is their email. what am i doing wrong? yes, i have gone in the "display groups" settings and tried all options. anybody else having this problem? BTW, so far i like the functionality of the starcontacts application.

Everything seemed smooth about it until I walked into a store a couple of weeks ago and started playing with an Expire X10 which was set up for testing...Since one of my major points of interest (actually THE major point of interest) in a phone is PIM and contacts I tried adding a new contact and I was very surprised to see that the phone was asking me to enter my Gmail ID (or something like that...)Now, I don't have a Gmail account and neither am I planning to start one since I'm happy with my private email service; is it just outright impossible to get my contact list working without a gmail account? Or can something be done to use off-the-cloud contacts like a regular phone? The same goes also for the calendar app: can I use it offline without linking it to a google account? I understand that keeping my phone offline and off-the-cloud will make it a crippled phone, but I just can't afford any data plan. Does the majority of apps require a gmail account to work? If not, which ones do? And finally, am I gonna be able to read my emails on my phone even though I don't have a Gmail account?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI realize that the Incredible will bring in your Gmail contacts during phone setup so I have all of them currently organized in Gmail as Last Name First Name in the single Name field as Gmail currently doesn't have two separate fields for first and last name. Does the phone itself have fields for first and last name and if so does it make more sense to reorganize my Gmail contacts so the phone can recognize what is the first name and what is the last name?

I go in to send an email to the group and it had them all set up for me nice and neatly. Then it asks me for an account and gmail isnt even an option.
I really dont want to have to add my gmail account under the email accounts section then id have two email apps if you know what i mean.

Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... The phone doesn't show my flagged emails and if I flag an email using the phone they don't show up in Outlook. The album showed up in the gallery and all was well, but whenever I transfer new pictures into said folder, the pictures are not updated in the phone gallery. I deleted the album in my gallery and the pictures off my phone in hopes that all of the new pictures will show up if I transfer the pictures again from my computer to my phone. Now the album isn't even shown in the gallery. I've selected the option to show all content on the device but the album is still not showing.

Here is my issue. When I read or delete an email from my phone, it doesn't reflect in gmail when I login. It still shows as unread. Whenever I get new emails on the phone, it will say I have 5, but I only have 1 because I already read the other 4. But I cannot see them and can only view them then from gmail online. Never had this issue live past a *228 and reboot. I have cleared cache, tried reflash. Everything. Even went back to a working NAND and still same issue. I am using Aloysius v11 MAPS.

Is there a way to get the Google account or the Gmail address (no password) which have been signed to the device. the closest thing I saw is using AccountManager and Account but this is only for Android class 5 or higher and I'm developing for class 3. from my understanding this is for online services which I do not need - I'm only want the Gmail address.
