HTC Incredible :: Local Outgoing Calls Don't Show Contact Info

I have all of my contacts stored as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. When I am within my own area code, I have always only dialed the last seven digits (no area code). When I do this, my Incredible doesn't recognize it as a stored contact.
I've tried storing it in different ways, xxx-xxx-xxxx, xxxxxxxxx, etc, but I do not seem to be able to make it hapen.
From what I've read, one solution is to dial the area code everytime, but who wants to do that in a local setting? Very annoying every smartphone I've ever had prior to this was able to interpret the last seven as the contact when the phone is in the default area code (and yes, mine is set to my area code).

Just received my Desire yesterday and I cant keep my hands off it. Anyways this is my problem...
Since I travel and change my SIM quite often, the nos. of my contacts have been saved with the country codes so that I dont have to keep adding digits when I have to make calls. So because of this when I receive Local Calls ie calls without country codes it says unknown contact even though this contact is saved in the phone.
Example: 00974 123456 is saved in my fone....00974 is the country code and phone no. is 123456. When i receive a local call from this no. it shows 123456, and hence the Desire is not recognizing the contact.
All contacts are saved in phone memory.

so i have gone thru everything i can find on this forum but i am at my wits end. i have been able to get my outlook contacts into my gmail account (the csv import worked reasonably well). what i don't understand is that i can view a contact in gmail and see phone numbers, address, email, etc. when i view on the G1 all i get is their email. what am i doing wrong? yes, i have gone in the "display groups" settings and tried all options. anybody else having this problem? BTW, so far i like the functionality of the starcontacts application.

Three times in the last week contact info has disappeared from my google contacts/phone (Incredible). Twice, with different contacts, the home phone numbers just disappeared from both the phone and my google account. Last Saturday I entered a completely new contact info for a friend (incl. a picture) and on Sunday the contact was gone both from my phone and my google account. I always enter this information on my computer via google contacts and then it does get successfully synced to my Incredible and is available for a while.
When the contact disappears it's gone both from my phone and my google account info, it doesn't show in "all contacts" either - it's gone for good. I have created a groupd called "New Friends" where these contacts were placed. I belive they are still also automatically part of "My Contacts". It's been easy to notice the disappearance since I only have a few contacts in this "New Friends" group. I worry about this happening, esp if it's not easy to notice. I've seen other threads with this type of problem over the years when I searched, but there doesn't seem to be a solution for this rather serious problem.

I have 3 favorites to call. One directly dials the phone number when I hit the contact. The other 2 just bring up the contact info and I have to select the phone number to call them. I have the primary set OK on one, but I still just get the contact info rather than dialing the number automtically. The other I have the wrong number set as primary but I don't know how to change the primary from cell to home.

So this morning I decided to use the Backup Assistant for the first time & set it up through my Verizon, got the pin & proceeded to BU my contacts. When I went back to the contacts on my phone there where other names, numbers & email addresses mixed in with my contacts (at least 10 or more). I just started deleting them not thinking much about it, but now I'm a little concerned. I ran the Backup again and it worked fine. Any one experience this or have any ideas? I searched and can't find any info on this glitch.

I, obviously, pre-ordered the DI and I'm trying to get everything in my Gmail ready so that when I get the phone I can streamline the whole setup process. What's the best way to combine contact info from My Verizon/Backup Assistant and contacts in Gmail? Should I start manually combining names, numbers, addresses, and emails in My Verizon? Is Gmail better at syncing and management or can all this be done in the phone with People? What about groups? Will those translate if I set up groups in Gmail and/or My Verizon?

I recently switched from T-mobile to Verizon, and just picked up my nice shiny new HTC Incredible phone. It works great, with one exception.Whenever I get an incoming call, the phone just shows that I have an incoming call but doesn't show the caller's phone number, or the name if they are one of my contacst. It doesn't matter if the call is coming from a land line, a Verizon mobile phone, or whether or not they are on of my contacts, each time all it shows is incoming call, and nothing esle.I probably have some setting screwed up, but so far I can't find it.

I was wondering if the X10 can do the same as my last android Hero, which basically link the facebook info contact to my related phone contact, including the picture. I guess this wont need any hardware, but software. Has this improvement being asked or is it planned for future updates?

On my Nexus One, when adding contacts in the phone or in Gmail, they would show up on both the phone and Gmail contacts on my PC. With my Incredible, when I add contacts in Gmail, they show up on my phone, but not vice versa. How can I add contacts to my phone so that they will become Gmail contacts?

I've gotten some complaints about the sound quality of my Evo compared to other cell phones on outgoing calls. And reviews have mentioned that the phone aspect of the Evo is not its strong suit.Is it possible that future updates could improve sound quality? Or is that strictly a hardware issue?

I have specific pix assigned to each of my friends and family for their contact picture; however when they call me or I call them the picture that is displayed is blurry! But in reality the picture in the photo gallery is crystal clear.

Does anyone know why some contact pictures are blurry when they show up on caller i.d. and some aren't? Some of the pictures that are blurry are from facebook and from my pictures album. Although, not all facebook contacts come in blurry. some are perfect? This may sound like a small problem but an annoying one! Does anyone know why are how to fix this?

It will take incoming calls, send and receive sms and use data just fine but when I go to make an outgoing call I get this screen. The only way to fix it is to reboot the phone. Once I had to reboot twice in a row.

I'm experiencing an odd quirk where my outgoing calls will often drop when I put the phone to my ear to talk or listen. Oddly, they don't seem to drop when I keep it on speakerphone and this doesn't seem to be an issue at all with incoming calls.Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?Also, I've found this doesn't seem to happen when I use the menu and go to a different screen while the call is connected.

On android, is it possible to listen for all outgoing call events? i.e. my code get invoked when users make an out-going phone call? One possible way is to periodically pull call-log database for that information. But I would like to know if i can register for a notification when outgoing call happens?

Anyone know if there is there a method to quickly withhold your number for outgoing calls as and when neccessary? Currently I do it via home/menu/settings/call settings/additional call settings/caller ID *phew* Ideally I would like to be able to toggle caller ID on/off from one of the homescreens..is that possible?

I have started developing a tool, which should react on an outgoing call or sms and also to be started at boot time. The start at boot time does work properly, but I'm not able to receive the broadcasts for the outgoing calls.
Who can tell me, what is wrong with my code? For this, I added two receivers in my manifest and implemented the broadcast receivers:

I'm new to smartphones in general because I refused to buy one, they're destroying the world we live in, and now I can't focus on a simple face-to-face conversation without getting distracted by this silly device. But what's done is done. Recently a job opportunity left me no choice. I've been selling iPhones and Droid RAZRs by the truckload on eBay. I was an iPhreak until about christmas when I obtained a few Galaxy S3s to refurbish and sell, and after unlocking one of these i535s to work on Cricket for my girlfriend, I attempted a similar method to get one functioning on AT&T. Using DFS CDMA tool, I've gained the ability to send and receive SMS, as well as receive calls using my AT&T SIM card, but when I attempt to call out (any number), com.android.phone FCs and I'm returned to the home screen. I don't need mobile data, or MMS. I'd just like my phone to function as a phone, not simply a "hand computer".
My question: How can I make outgoing calls with AT&T on a VZW SGS3?
Rooted with an unlocked bootloader. Willing to flash, but insist on remaining rooted. ICS 4.0.4, I535VRLF2.

About once a week I need to do a battery pull on my DROID because both incoming and outgoing calls are silent. I'm not sure if the caller on the other end can hear me or not.In the meantime, I've switched my vocoder options back to the factory default to see if maybe that helps. Really, it's a shot in the dark, but it's a start.
