Aug 14, 2010There was a thread like this prior to the site going down today. I can't find it and I liked it, thought I'd try to restore it. Now that we have S-off what apps are recommended?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?
Does it bother anybody else that you can't delete the pre-loaded apps? I don't tweet, will never tweet lol. But damned if I can remove the tweet apps from my list of apps to keep down on clutter. There are several others that can go by the wayside as well, if I could figure out how.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used mybackup to backup my apps, then did the update.zip install. I restored my apps just fine. What I'm worried about is my apps not receiving updates from the market when they're available. Does anyone know if I'll get the updates or not?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLike, I have Advance task killer and all but when I end the programs when I turn the phone on, why do some just start up again? For ex: When I'm done with Pandora and go to ATK, Mixing and Doubletab are apparently running. Why does that happen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone know why some applications don't seem to show up in the app market? specifically two that i cant find are bodyfitness, and drivesafe.ly both I can find on appbrain and their websites, but they are both unavailable from the market on my DINC. Could they be apps that arent available for android 2.1+?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out what the advantage is to installing to the SD rather than to built in storage.Since my phone has 8GB of internal storage, apps are small, and videos/music are big, wouldn't it make more sense to install the apps to the internal memory, and store media to a 32GB micro sdhc?
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor the last few days i have several apps that dont want to install, or uninstall, or update.I tried deleting them via appbrain, and that hasnt changed anything, i tried canceling their updates or installs in the market, but that hasnt worked,i tried shutting the phone off, i tried a battery pull.every time though when i boot back up these 4 apps keep trying to install and i cant seem to cancel them no matter what, any ideas?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Incredible arrives tomorrow (finally!).How much memory does it have for installed apps?I've been going through appbrain and already have selected 41 apps for 57MB and I'm just getting started. What's the limit?
When Froyo comes out, we can install apps to the SD card? Will that allow us to install more apps?
I must say this is the happiest I have been with a phone purchase and I purchase a new phone 1 - 2 times a year.I have been going through the apps store since yesterday and have downloaded a ton. The ones I have kept so far are as follow.
Calorie Counter
ES Task Manager
ES File Explorer
SkyDroid (Golf GPS)
Google Goggles
Google Maps Update
Golf Channel
Movies (app)
PKT Auctions Ebay
ShopSavvy
TMZ
Zedge
What about you?
I know there are quite a few app threads, but instead of searching through them all (and some of them are pretty long) I'm hoping to get some help in an easy to find place.I'm traveling next week for work but plan on doing some sightseeing and that kind of stuff as well. What apps out there would be cool and/or useful to have while you're traveling?
View 13 Replies View RelatedWe are all desperately waiting for the Incredible to come out. This excess amount of time has given me an opportunity to seek out which apps I will eventually download.
-Where's my Droid
-Pandora
-Google Goggles
-Gameboid
-PDAnet
Are apps only stored on SD or are they on internal or both?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanted to know why certain apps just start up on their own. To clarify, I'm not talking about apps that start up on boot up. I referring to ones that start at random. For example, every so often Pandora will start playing even though it was on pause. This has happen when I'm in another app. So there is no way that I pressed on the Pandora app to play. In addition, when I try to kill apps that are running in processes. Their will be some that I have not opened that day or in a while. I going through Astro and try killing apps that I don't need to use on a regular bases. Does anyone have any ideas?
Device: HTC Incredible
OS: 2.1 with HTC Sence
Updated to 2.2 with the RUU and a factory reset. I backed up all apps with Astro App Back-Up. Now the apps are no longer in the market app list. Will they still update with out being on the list? Only new apps I've downloaded since 2.2 are actually on the market list.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis may be a dumb question but, If I move an app to the sd card through froyo like say Homerun Baseball 3D, and then do a factory data reset, will I have to reinstall the game and lose all my achievements or will it be on the SD card and untouched?
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I was thinking about the fact that Verizon changed the phone I purchased by adding apps with the froyo update. Can you deny the update to froyo? Not that I know of without getting the popup every half an hour. I purchased this phone outright when it came out and want to get a droid 2 and was thinking about ways the exchange this phone. I guess what I am trying to say is; can I go to Verizon and say that they either need to change my phone back to the purchased item or take a return and give me a refund?I am ASSUMING this and wanted to know if anyone knows of any laws about this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Droid Inc just got the 2.2 update last night. I use Advanced Task Killer quite a bit and one thing I immediately noticed is that a lot of programs keep launching themselves in the background. I never saw this happen with 2.1 other than sometimes when I would wake up in the morning, Gesture Search or CityID might be running. Now, I can go into Advanced Task Killer and kill everything and within 5 minutes I can go back in there and have between 10 and 15 apps running. They always seem to be mostly the same ones. Here are the ones that are currently running:
- Gesture Search
- Engadget (This one starts up within about 10 seconds after I kill it)*
- TiKL - Touch to Talk (Beta)*
- Layar*
- Amazon MP3 (this must be something that came with 2.2)
- Svox Classic
- Voice Dialer
- Internet (I use Dolphin)
- AppBrain App Market*
- The Weather Channel*
- Startup Cleaner 2.0*
- EasyTether*
- Handcent SMS*
I uninstalled all the apps on that list with an (*) next to them and then reinstalled them to see if that helped at all. It helped for some of them but I have the following apps still startup after I reboot my phone and let everything finish loading. The ones with an (*) below are ones that the Startup Cleaner 2.0 kills on startup.
- Startup Cleaner 2.0*
- Amazon MP3*
- TiKL - Touch to Talk (Beta)*
- Handcent SMS*
- Gesture Search
- Footprints
- Facebook*
- Google Search
Handcent loads back up in about 15 seconds after it is killed. TiKL loads back up in about 30 seconds. If I wait about 5 minutes after killing everything that is running, I get the following apps running:
- Gesture Search
- News
- Startup Cleaner 2.0
- Handcent SMS
- TiKL
These all load without me doing anything on my phone. None of this happened with 2.1. This is driving me nuts.
I know that some people in here are against Task Killers but I have all necessary programs on my Ignore list. I also disagree with some peoples thoughts that even though a task killer shows low memory, it doesn't mean you are low on memory. Anytime my phone starts running slow, I can guarantee that Advanced Task Killer will show less than 100MB of available memory. That's how it's been every time my phone has run slow.
Which games and apps do you guys like the best? i need to download some new ones
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any free or paid apps to make the Dinc louder the basic player is not loud enough for me as my blackberry was, I don't want to spend big bucks for headphones..
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is starting to get really annoying. I'm trying to limit my use of the Advanced task Killer, but it seems like some apps REALLY LIKE being on and running - especially after a reboot.
I have NEVER used the FM Radio app, but it's always on - WHY?
Others, like YouTube and Key Ring, I use, but not very often - why would they be running after a reboot?
I want to backup my apps and do a factory reset, but I did this one time with my orginal Droid and the apps restored, but they never showed up in the Market as downloaded and I never got updates for them Is there any way around this?
View 17 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to create folders on the "all programs" page you get when you push the widgets/apps button next to Phone? I'd like to push that button and then maybe see a games folder at the top and a media folder for camera apps and media players. Maybe a news/reference folder for my dictionaries, reference and news apps. The rest of the stuff I'd like to just leave there open and accessible.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I charged my battery last night and unplugged it 8AM. About 30min commute using it to play music, then exited and stored it (since I can't bring my phone into work). Left @5PM and once again played some music on the way home. I have made no calls, no texting at all, and now noticed that I'm at 16% and dropping fast (7:25PM). I have read most of the battery threads and have blue tooth, mobile, and GPS turned off. Under running services I have:
Mail: Mail Service
Calender: ObexService
Touch Input:Touch Input
Google: GTalkService
Sync Service: SyncService
Messages: Transaction Service
HTC Message Up loader: UploadMessageService
Battery Widget: BatteryWidgetUpdate
Are these killing my battery, and which ones can I kill off? Which app can tell me who the resource (battery, etc) hogs are?
What uses that 8g that came with the Dinc. It doesn't look like anything uses it by default. Where does the OS store installed apps?
