HTC Incredible : Want To Update Apps?
Sep 3, 2010
Updated to 2.2 with the RUU and a factory reset. I backed up all apps with Astro App Back-Up. Now the apps are no longer in the market app list. Will they still update with out being on the list? Only new apps I've downloaded since 2.2 are actually on the market list.

I'm trying to install a new rom, and make it a nice clean fresh install. I wipe the cache, I flash the rom. As soon as I log in with my gmail account during setup, the phone downloads all the apps I had and the wall paper and a bunch of other stuff.
I do not want it to do this. I really really want to restore what I want when I want. Thats why I bought Titanium Backup. Does anyone have any ideas on:
1. Why this happens,
2. How to make it stop?

I have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.
Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?

So one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.

I just saw a video of a Verizon guy that got FROYO already. They were showing the changes included in 2.2 and it had the option to update all the apps at the same time or something similar. I thought that was art of 2.2.

I tried the AppBackupReinstall app when I switched EVOs and reinstalled all my apps. But now when I go into the Market it doesn't show any as installed so it doesn't check for updates. The only ones it shows are the purchased apps or the ones I installed from the Market. I can even download the same apps that are already installed and it will download and overwrite them. Any way to back up free apps so they can be reinstalled AND show up in your Market Downloads?

I recently upgraded to a 16G SD card in my N1. I backed up the entire contents of my old 4g card and put them on the new card. Ever since, I have not been able to update any apps that have ever resided on my SD card, even if they are now located on the phone. In an effort to resolve this, I uninstalled the afflicted apps, and now I cannot even download them again! I simply get "installation unsuccessful." Anyone have a fix for this? Got a long road trip coming up and I'd really like the use of some of these apps!

Other than searching for an app we already have installed, how else do we know there is an update for certain apps?

Someone mentioned this elsewhere but thought I'd put this up. Some apps will tell you when you open them that a new update is available, some won't and some don't tell you about the update consistently. I found a way to see if your apps are updated...

I have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?

During the last few days I've been unable to update or install any apps on my UK Nexus 1. I keep getting "Download Unsuccessful"This did coincide with me switching to Gmail instead of Google Mail but I switched it back and things still don't work so I don't think that this is the answer. I have plenty of room on the phone & SD card.

So I got my N1 today and installed apps w/ no problem. After I manually updated to 2.2, whenever I try and download an app it says "Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item." If I go to settings, SD Card & phone storage settings, it says I have 158MB available space under Internal phone storage. So I have plenty of room to install things, what's the deal?

I installed Fresh Evo 0.3 on a stock Evo and everything was fine and dandy. ES File Explorer worked, ROM Manager, everything, etc. I then decided to flash the latest radio update as well. Upon the reboot, all my settings got lost, I had to redo my email, etc but the radio got updated. It also looks like all the apps Fresh 0.3 included now went missing. Did I do something wrong or it this a bug?

I was wondering if app updates only show up once you've been in the "Market" or will the notification come up if you haven't opened the market for quite some time?I'm thinking the only time I've received a notification is when I'm in the Market. Is that the case?Other times, I do not get notification, then I'm in Market and I choose "downloads" from the menu and it tells me some of my apps have updates available on my list of downloads. Still no notification.

Atrack Dog doesn't work too well in 2.1. I have 2.1 and the OTA patch for it. What is the best app updater now in 2.1? I like staying on top of the versions for the applications in my hero. What are you guys using.

I am working on an app that will be shipped on some phones. I have been thinking about how to update them once a new version is ready. How that would work for a pre-installed app? As an initial thought I think I could pop up a message letting the user know there is a new version ready, but if I could avoid unnecessary request to the server it would be better. If a google engineer comes across this please give me a hint as you do this for Google Maps.

I have had my droid for a couple of days now, and just recently have started to get more into it. Went to the app store and noticed there was an update for a couple of the apps that I had installed. that got me wondering, what if i have a large amount of apps, I would then have to search for them individually in the store to update them! This seems like it would be a total pain. Im I just doing something wrong, like a setting or a menu im not seeing? Or is there an app that can find updates for apps that I have installed? Ive seen app managers but all fail to mention any sort of automatic updates of any kind.
