This is starting to get really annoying. I'm trying to limit my use of the Advanced task Killer, but it seems like some apps REALLY LIKE being on and running - especially after a reboot.
I have NEVER used the FM Radio app, but it's always on - WHY?
Others, like YouTube and Key Ring, I use, but not very often - why would they be running after a reboot?

I am triying to use PutYourBootHereWithAudio like before and it runs through all the steps fine but the phone reboots with the old (or new) htc startup still...I downloaded htc sync before hand as that is what worked for me in the past, anyone else get this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Garmin-Asus A10 that i wanted to change its font using Type Fresh app. When the font changed the app required a reboot,, but when the phone rebooted it became unable to boot after the garmin-asus logo anymore !!
I tried a hard reset using the volume keys pressed with the power button but it displays "**WIPE USERDATA**" on the top left corner and nothing happened.There is an option to hold the volume up key with the power button that displays " USB POLLING MODE " in a blue screen.
My phone now is not able to boot properly and freezes on the startup logo.
In cm9-alpha, I have some apps that should run on startup: Smart Rotator, LBE Privacy Guard, Plug In Launcher, and probably some others. They don't.
Now, some apps start on startup: my alarm program comes to mind.
There were two problems. One is that one app, LBE Privacy Guard, refuses to start for some reason. The second problem was that I had sync turned off, so I thought other programs weren't starting. The hack/workaround for this is to use Llama to start LBE on startup, then to run the Android Intent that shows the desktop, then to kill Llama (because there's no reason to keep it running). Note that when setting up this profile, you *cannot* test it before saving it. Otherwise, llama will kill itself and the action list won't be saved.
LBE has been fixed. But I've noticed that after restoring apps from titanium backup, they don't run on startup. I think they need to be run manually once so they register their hooks with the OS. After running applications manually once, they do run when they're supposed to.
Anyone else notice all of the default startup apps when the phone is booted? Is this to help speed up the launch of the app? Is there a way to disable the startup apps?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBig problem, I was using my phone and it ended up crashing and stalling. Took phone battery out and put back in to restart the unit. Now on startup it shows me the galaxy s gt1m900 scrren, then turns off. If the power is plugged in, it will loop continiously. No clue how to get it back up and running, I did manage to get to the "downloading - do not turn off phone" screen but thats as different of a result i could get..

Until I activate the Advanced Task Killer and shut them all down, the thing runs like a hog. I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Is there any way to modify the startup files?

Mine always has a lot of stuff running that I don't use (e.g. Corporate Calendar and Voice Dialing) and I would like to keep these apps from starting at all. Even when I kill them with the task killer they automatically open back up at some point. I'm just concerned about battery usage.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing a weird problem. On startu,p while the notification bar is displaying "preparing sd card" and "preparing phone storage" a strange tone is played. It sounds like a ringtone preview...but it doesn't sound pleasant. It makes you believe that there is an error somewhere, but there is no verbal notification. I recently updated several apps at once and installed a new one. I thought this may be the problem, but I still have the sound after uninstalling new app.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately, I've had to uninstall several apps that I liked because they force start on boot and my Droid was becoming completely laggy because of too many apps starting on boot. I understand that some apps/widgets need to start on boot, but others its completely unnecessary. At a minimum, make an option in settings to let the user decide if we want it to start on boot up.
I just uninstalled Note Everything, Estrong File manager and Weatherbug because they were starting on boot. I love MixZing and I am kind of annoyed that it starts on boot, but its an app I "need" so I can't uninstall it. I'll probably email all these devs and ask about giving the option not to start on boot.
I've got a couple apps that I like that don't run at boot and should. (master volume control and SMS scheduler) Is there an app that will let me run like batch file or other to specify what programs run at boot? I see a few that will let me ignore/skip apps at boot, but nothing that will let me add...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted a few days ago and did the forever S-off. I have ROM Manager loaded and was poking around in the system. I downloaded Skyraider and ROM Manager asked me to reboot. Not thinking it wouldn't let me know what it was doing when in recovery before doing something the rom had been applied. Now the Phone has for 40+ minutes been at the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
I have read not to pull the battery but The power Button and Volume button do nothing so I could really use some suggestions. As a little more info I have not flashed the radio yet so it was a 1.x radio that a 2.2 rom was just seemingly applied to.
Bricked or recoverable? I have a Nandroid backup if someone can help me get back to that point...
I would like to change the boot animation on my droid incredible I saw these 2 threads on here. I downloaded all the zip files and I've been trying to change the boot animation with terminal emulator. I'd like to change to the boot animation with the droid peeing on the apple logo. I'm have no knowledge of programming and the more I read these the more confused I become. Has anyone been able to change the boot animation using terminal emulator? Ever time I try to change it the apps keeps telling me "permission denied."

I'm trying to boot up the galaxohero rom,I indeed successfully restore the gapps before, but now, it didn't work anymore. I'm using the recovery 4.2 image and i'm sure i have done everything as the how to odin guide said, but it still couldn't restore the g.apps, the restore was aborted after a few sec. I have even formatted the storage card and start again. For my successful attempt, i use the old methods with a g.apps directory, but now I'm using II5.tar to restore, and it didn't work anymore.

I know there are a few "startup manager" apps that allow to modify startup behaviour, but most of them require root access and moreover they also require auto start at boot permission to work.
I'd just like a way to figure out which of my apps have that permission so I can decide which is worth keeping and which to uninstall.
Seems fairly straight forward Settings > Apps > Uninstall. But is there any reason, or a good idea to boot into recovery mode and wipe cache?

I have always come to android central for news and tips and guidelines, as my experience is limited I could not add any value to posts, I accidentally booted in safe mode, I than restarted my phone, the safe mode was gone but now my apps are missing and confused in the app drawer, I do not know how this happened is there a way to do a system recovery of some sorts so that the phone is like it was before?
